Background / History

Origin and Life as Na'er

Gu Yuena is the Silver Dragon King, one of the two beings who inherited portions of the Dragon God's thoughts, knowledge, and legacy. The account introduced during her first appearance attributes the Dragon God's division into gold and silver halves to the Five Great God Kings. Before becoming the soul beasts' leader against the Divine Realm, she had virtually no independent experience of life 6.

Jiang Mingyuan and Tang Wulin found her alone in human form, with her power sealed and her memories missing. Knowing only the name Na'er, she could not explain where she came from or where she belonged. Jiang Mingyuan offered her a home until she recovered her memories or her family found her 6.

Na'er lived with Jiang Mingyuan for three years and became his adopted younger sister. When she announced that her family had found her, he encouraged her to return to them. Before they parted, he gave her a handmade phoenix pendant, and they promised to visit each other 8 9.

Return and Spirit Pagoda Infiltration

At their reunion in Qin Yu's office, Na'er introduced herself as Gu Yuena. She presented Zi Ji as her aunt, “Gu Yue Yinhan,” and introduced Leng Yaozhu as her teacher. Unlike the divided identity discussed in Jiang Mingyuan's thoughts, this Gu Yuena had never split herself into separate personalities or sacrificed thirty percent of her essence 22 55.

Her apprenticeship under Leng Yaozhu served a concealed political purpose: she intended to use her teacher's position to gain control of the Spirit Pagoda. Studying at its headquarters also separated her from Jiang Mingyuan, leaving her frustrated by the demands of the Soul Beast Revival Plan and her subordinates 23.

The Golden Tree and Soul Beast Revival

Gu Yuena accepted Ya Li's invitation to Sea God Island because she wanted to inspect the Golden Tree. She believed it might be the Douluo Plane's Life Core and considered transplanting it into the Star Dou Great Forest to restore the forest's vitality 59 60.

Her environmental plans were tied to a larger objective: overturning human dominance and placing humans under soul-beast rule. Jiang Mingyuan was explicitly exempt from the enslavement she envisioned. She also intended to conserve her divine power for the Divine Realm's eventual return rather than expend it restoring habitats herself 59.

During the visit, Jiang Mingyuan absorbed an enormous quantity of life energy and briefly aimed destructive flames at her. Despite sensing a lethal threat, she called for him to wake up and later remained at his bedside until he recovered 61 62.

Class Zero and Shrek Admission

Gu Yuena joined Class Zero after Wei Xiaofeng's departure. During a holiday, she returned to Jiang Mingyuan's Aolai City home with him and Tang Wulin. There, she helped recover a winged snake from Jiang Mingyuan's clothes and witnessed its transformation into the child later known as Jiang Xiaoyue 97 99 100.

During Shrek's entrance assessments, she and Jiang Mingyuan forced back the pressure of a mural painted with Di Tian's true dragon golden blood. She received full marks for the pressure test, bombarded the One-Eyed Giant during team combat, and supported falling stone gates with pillars raised from the ground 103 104 106.

The virtual-space trial strengthened her belief that Jiang Mingyuan was a transformed soul beast. His knowledge of the original Three-Eyed Golden Lion included details absent from Spirit Pagoda records. Although Gu Yuena disliked the Auspicious Beast's legacy, she privately resolved to obtain a body for the simulated mother after it helped Jiang Mingyuan, allowing mother and daughter to reunite 113 118.

Departure for the Star Luo Empire

An urgent message from Di Tian interrupted her time with Jiang Mingyuan at Shrek Academy. She subsequently took leave to travel to the Star Luo Empire, explaining that her duties as Soul Beast Co-ruler could keep her away for two or three months—or several years 134 135.

Before leaving, she entrusted Jiang Mingyuan's care to Tang Wulin and asked Jiang Xiaoyue not to upset him. Her farewell also exposed her continuing jealousy: she threatened Tang Wulin against pursuing Jiang Mingyuan during her absence, while Tang Wulin gave her five years to return 135.

Bonus-Scene Future

A separately labeled future bonus scene places Gu Yuena, Tang Wulin, and Jiang Mingyuan together after the defeat of Tang San, the Dragon God, the Deep Crimson Mother, the Abyss Emperor, and other God Kings. The Dragon God's departing remnant curses the Dragon Race with an overwhelming reproductive drive until they produce offspring, creating a crisis for the few surviving true dragons 128.

Appearance

Gu Yuena initially appears as a petite girl with purple eyes. After returning to Jiang Mingyuan, she uses a small portion of her immense power to accelerate her body's development, becoming taller than him even in his male form 6 22 55 64.

  • Silver hair: Qiangu Dongfeng recognizes her as the silver-haired girl accompanying Leng Yaozhu 63.
  • Dragon pupils: Her eyes display a deep, luminous draconic quality when she watches Jiang Mingyuan at night 99.
  • Height contrast: Her greater height and close behavior with Jiang Mingyuan cause outsiders to mistake her for his older sister 58.

Personality

As Na'er, Gu Yuena is lively, affectionate, and especially attached to Jiang Mingyuan. She is noticeably less warm toward others and continues to treasure the childhood stories he used to read to her. Even after resuming her responsibilities, she describes his absence as leaving her heart empty 6 8 22 55.

Her affection is also possessive and controlling. She regards Tang Wulin as a rival, resents interruptions to her time with Jiang Mingyuan, and sometimes uses her superior strength and elemental control to prevent him from leaving. These actions can distress Jiang Mingyuan; when she believes she has genuinely hurt him, she panics and apologizes 74 98 99 135.

As a ruler, she is calculating and ruthless. She infiltrates the Spirit Pagoda, secretly assigns powerful protectors to Jiang Mingyuan, and contemplates lethal retaliation against his enemies. Her loyalty to soul beasts does not make her sympathetic to every individual: she condemns the original Three-Eyed Golden Lion's sacrifice as a betrayal that damaged the Star Dou Great Forest's fortune 22 23 113.

Abilities & Skills

Elemental Control

Gu Yuena commands multiple elements with precision that astonishes Shrek's examiners. Her simultaneous manipulation of four elements exceeds what even some Soul Saints can accomplish 108.

  • Elemental bombardment: Forms hundreds of elemental light orbs into a wheel and launches them at the One-Eyed Giant 104.
  • Combined-element explosions: Collides water and fire to blast apart Jiang Mingyuan's door when she believes he is in danger 64.
  • Wind manipulation: Accelerates Jiang Mingyuan's flight, clears overgrown weeds, and gathers debris into a pile 63 97.
  • Ice manipulation: Covers a floor with frost to disrupt Jiang Mingyuan's footing 98.
  • Ground manipulation: Raises thick pillars to hold up the stone gates in Shrek's assessment 106.
  • Darkness: Envelops a classroom in darkness, preventing surveillance devices from recording images 133.
  • Fine shaping: Creates layered flowers from earth, water, wind, and fire without displaying her soul rings. Without her continued control, the arrangement would last only a few hours 108.

Spatial Control and Perception

As the complete Silver Dragon King, Gu Yuena can manipulate space and distinguish genuine spatial transportation from ordinary rapid movement 90.

  • Prepares to intervene with spatial control when Jiang Mingyuan's motorcycle approaches a vehicle 58.
  • Recognizes that Jiang Mingyuan's movement technique transports him through space rather than merely increasing his speed 90.
  • Observes Jiang Mingyuan through a cave wall during the virtual-space trial 118.

Dragon Authority and Physical Power

Her draconic identity gives her authority beyond her displayed soul-ring configuration 61 103 105.

  • Does not feel the dragon pressure Long Yeyue directs toward Jiang Mingyuan 61.
  • Joins Jiang Mingyuan in forcing back the Di Tian mural's pressure 103.
  • Causes the One-Eyed Giant to kneel upon sensing her aura, before her attack reaches it 105.
  • Can physically overpower Jiang Mingyuan despite most of her strength remaining sealed 99 100.
  • Uses her underlying power to accelerate her human body's development 55 64.

Inherited Knowledge and Instruction

Gu Yuena draws on the Dragon God's inherited wisdom to analyze bloodlines, soul beasts, and martial-soul phenomena 65 100 111.

  • Identifies Jiang Mingyuan's changes as a likely phoenix-bloodline awakening rather than ordinary martial-soul evolution 65.
  • Proposes that Jiang Xiaoyue's egg survived by absorbing Jiang Mingyuan's overflowing life force, which also altered its life form; this remains her explanation rather than a verified account 100.
  • Distinguishes Yuanen Yehui's enhanced gravitational suppression from an activated soul skill 111.
  • Teaches Jiang Mingyuan elemental control over two and a half years; his metal-control ability is also attributed to her 111 173.

Life-Sustaining Divine Power

Divine power leaking from Gu Yuena's body formed the Lake of Life and helped the Star Dou Great Forest flourish. By the time she investigates the Golden Tree, that lake is approaching depletion 59.

  • Seeks an external source of vitality to restore soul-beast habitats without exhausting her reserves 59 60.
  • Treats the Golden Tree's identity as the plane's Life Core as a conjecture, not an established discovery 60.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Silver Dragon Spear — Her spear; she considers giving it to Jiang Mingyuan when he seeks a suitable weapon 128.
  • Phoenix pendant — A handmade protective charm Jiang Mingyuan gives her before their first separation 9.
  • Storage Soul Tool — Holds Jiang Mingyuan's motorcycle when his own storage tool lacks sufficient space 59.
  • Five-element champagne rose — Begins as her four-element flower. Jiang Mingyuan adds ice and soul silver, preserves it with spatial power, and returns it to her 108 109.
  • Once Upon a Mountain — Her favorite childhood storybook, which she keeps beneath her pillow and asks Jiang Mingyuan to read again 55.

Relationships

  • Jiang Mingyuan — Adoptive older brother, childhood caregiver, and romantic interest. She secretly arranges his protection and later teaches him elemental control, but her possessiveness frequently conflicts with his wishes 8 22 98 111.
  • Tang Wulin — Childhood acquaintance, classmate, and rival for Jiang Mingyuan's affection. She initially considers having Di Tian kill him because of his Golden Dragon King aura, yet eventually entrusts Jiang Mingyuan to him during her absence 23 97 135.
  • Leng Yaozhu — Teacher and deputy master of the Spirit Pagoda. Gu Yuena becomes her disciple to gain access to the organization's leadership 22 23.
  • Zi Ji — Subordinate who poses as her aunt under the name Gu Yue Yinhan. Gu Yuena also asks her to obtain human books and arrange clothing 22 97 98.
  • Di Tian — Subordinate whose urgent summons precedes her departure from Shrek. His message uses the name “Gu Yue Tian” 103 134 135.
  • Bi Ji — Healer among her subordinates whom she consults about Jiang Mingyuan's condition 56.
  • Scarlet King and Demon Spirit — Ferocious Beasts assigned to alternate as Jiang Mingyuan's secret bodyguards after her first departure 22.
  • Jiang Xiaoyue — A child Gu Yuena comes to regard as her own. She initially proposes a parental role and imagines granting Xiaoyue a dragon bloodline after becoming the Dragon God 100 135.
  • Xu Xiaoyan — Close female classmate whom she reassures and offers to protect during Shrek's dangerous stone-gate assessment 106.
  • Ya Li — Invites Gu Yuena and Jiang Mingyuan to Sea God Island and helps care for him after the Golden Tree incident 59 61 62.
