Biodata
| Feature | Value |
|---|---|
| Name | Satoru Gojo (五条悟) |
| Alias(es) | “The strongest jujutsu sorcerer” 12 |
| Gender | Male |
| Affiliation | Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu High School; Jujutsu Society 20 24 |
| Occupation/Role | Jujutsu sorcerer; teacher of Tokyo Jujutsu High’s first-year class 12 24 |
| Status | Alive; overseeing the Goodwill Event’s individual competition 48 50 |
| First Appearance | Mentioned in Yagami Jue’s thoughts 4; first appears in person receiving Ijichi’s report 12 |
Background / History
Gojo previously faced Toji Fushiguro, who nearly killed him by driving a blade through his throat. Reports of Yagami Jue’s extraordinary strength without cursed energy remind him of Toji, as does Jue’s concealed presence during their eventual duel 12 20 23.
At Tokyo Jujutsu High, Gojo teaches the first-year students and receives field reports from Kiyotaka Ijichi. His authority does not translate into obedience to Jujutsu Headquarters: he openly dismisses the higher-ups and is willing to protect a promising student against their wishes 12 20 24.
Appearance
- Build: Tall 12.
- Hair: Spiky white hair 12 16.
- Eyes: Brilliant blue eyes, revealed when he lowers or loses his blindfold 19 23.
- Usual accessory: A black blindfold; occasionally wears black sunglasses instead 12 27.
- Clothing: Wears a sharp black suit during the Kyoto visit and Goodwill Event 29 41 47.
Personality
Gojo is casual, theatrical, and deliberately provocative. He lounges while eating sweets, calls himself the “strongest teacher,” and greets Principal Gakuganji with jokes about his remaining lifespan. Even Jue’s insults usually draw amusement rather than anger 12 20 22 24 41.
Unusual strength excites him. Jue’s zero-cursed-energy body rekindles his fighting spirit, and he challenges the boy to test whether physical force can overcome Limitless. After losing their wager, his surprise turns into admiration rather than resentment 19 22 23.
His playful manner can turn sharply threatening. He promises lethal retaliation against anyone who harms Jue and threatens Gakuganji over covert attacks. He also authorizes killing Junpei Yoshino if the boy refuses to cooperate with a retrieval mission, showing a ruthless approach to perceived threats 24 37 38.
Abilities & Skills
Limitless
Gojo’s defensive technique slows an approaching attack until it is infinitely close to stopping. Jue’s opening punch halts approximately one centimeter from his nose 23.
- Blocks Jue’s repeated, sonic-boom-producing punches, including attacks enhanced by the First Gate 23.
- Trembles under Jue’s increased physical force, but remains intact during the initial exchange 23.
- Briefly cracks under an axe kick delivered while Jue uses the Toji Fushiguro Heavenly Restriction experience card. The crack heals immediately, though the recoil drives Gojo into the ground 23.
- Can be switched off; Jue notices it is inactive when Gojo puts an arm around his shoulders 37.
- Later ripples when the evolved Jue angrily slaps Gojo’s shoulder, prompting Gojo to complain that it hurt 47.
Six Eyes
Gojo’s Six Eyes allow him to inspect cursed-energy traces and assess unusual physical phenomena even while wearing his blindfold 16 19.
- Identifies the absence of cursed residue in Jue’s destruction and distinguishes it from a sonic boom produced by physical kinetic energy 16 19.
- Confirms to Masamichi Yaga that Jue possesses no cursed energy 20.
- Detects spatial distortion caused by the heat from Jue’s evolving body 37.
- Has demonstrated limits: Jue’s experience-card-enhanced concealment briefly breaks Gojo’s tracking, and the subsequent axe kick is too fast for him to follow fully 23.
Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue
Blue generates a powerful attractive force. During the duel, its pull threatens to tear Jue’s body apart, though Jue withstands it through his enhanced constitution 23.
- Uses attraction to counter Jue at close range 23.
- Fires a blast at an apparent attack from behind, only to discover that the target is an afterimage 23.
Curtains and Barriers
Gojo establishes a Curtain around Sugisawa High School’s athletic field before fighting Jue, with the students evacuated beforehand 23.
- Reinforces Jujutsu High’s underground confinement room with more than a dozen layers of barriers to contain Jue’s evolution 37.
- Those barriers develop spiderweb-like cracks during the twenty-four-hour transformation 37.
Rapid Movement and Aerial Mobility
Gojo repeatedly appears or vanishes almost instantaneously and is explicitly described teleporting onto the Goodwill Event stage 16 19 20 48.
- Travels rapidly to investigate incidents in Sendai 16 19.
- Descends from the sky when intervening in Jue’s fight with Kenjaku 47.
Equipment / Items
- Black blindfold — His usual eye covering and the target of his wager with Jue. A shock wave tears it off during their duel; Gojo retrieves and puts it back on afterward 23.
- Black sunglasses — An alternative to the blindfold, worn while discussing the Roppongi incident and preparing to visit Kyoto 27 29.
- Heaven-Reversing Cloud fragment — Temporarily holds and displays the fingernail-sized fragment offered as the individual competition’s prize. It is described as capable of nullifying cursed techniques 48.
Relationships
- Yagami Jue — Student, sparring opponent, and protected charge. Gojo’s fascination develops into admiration after Jue wins their blindfold wager. Their dealings remain contentious, particularly over unpaid money and interrupted bounty opportunities 22 23 24 37 47.
- Yuji Itadori — First-year student. Gojo arranges his return to Jujutsu High after he swallows Sukuna’s Finger and later includes him in observing Jue’s battle at the Zenin estate 24 29 31.
- Megumi Fushiguro — First-year student and source of information about Jue. Gojo challenges Megumi’s assumption that Jue’s solo attack on the Zenin Clan is suicidal 19 24 29.
- Nobara Kugisaki — Welcomes her as the final first-year student and proposes a celebratory meal in Ginza 24.
- Masamichi Yaga — Principal and colleague. They discuss Jue’s capabilities, the bounty on his head, and the consequences of his conflict with the higher-ups 20 27.
- Kiyotaka Ijichi — Field contact who reports Jue’s exorcisms and the disappearance of Sukuna’s Finger 12 16.
- Toji Fushiguro — Former opponent who nearly killed him; the reference point for Gojo’s early assessment of Jue’s body 12 20 23.
- Principal Gakuganji — Adversarial colleague. Gojo mocks him, threatens retaliation for targeting Jue, and disputes his faith in inherited bloodlines and cursed techniques 37 41 50.
- Jujutsu higher-ups — Authorities Gojo openly defies. He rejects their control over him and negotiates on Jue’s behalf, although their pursuit of Jue continues 20 22 24 27 39.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Investigation in Sendai
Ijichi’s reports draw Gojo’s attention to a boy exorcising cursed spirits through physical force alone. Gojo arrives too late to intercept Jue after the police-cordon escape, then inspects the devastation at Sugisawa Third High School and learns his name from Megumi 12 16 19.
After discussing Jue’s resemblance to Toji and the five-hundred-million-yen bounty with Yaga, Gojo leaves to find him. He approaches Jue directly in his classroom and proposes a fight, denying that he has come as an executioner for the higher-ups 20 22.
Blindfold Wager and Protection
| Wager element | Terms / Outcome |
|---|---|
| Jue’s victory condition | Make Gojo remove his blindfold 23. |
| Reward for victory | Gojo promises protection and freedom from interference by the higher-ups 23 24. |
| Penalty for defeat | Jue must attend Jujutsu High as Gojo’s student 23. |
| Result | Jue’s enhanced axe kick briefly cracks Limitless; the resulting shock wave tears off the blindfold. Gojo rises unharmed but accepts the wager’s loss 23 24. |
Jue demands that Gojo obtain the bounty money as proof of his protection. Gojo agrees to pursue payment and asks Jue to help bring Itadori and Megumi back to Jujutsu High. Several days later, the money remains unpaid; Gojo blames the higher-ups’ stinginess and paperwork 24.
Jue’s Conflict with Jujutsu Society
Following the Roppongi destruction, Gojo questions the limits of Jue’s body and dismisses Yaga’s alarm over the higher-ups’ response. He subsequently takes the first-year students to Kyoto to watch Jue confront the Zenin Clan, then steps down from the perimeter wall when Jue calls for cleanup 27 29 31 32.
Gojo later observes Jue overwhelming Mahito with the Third Gate and notes that his body can make space resonate 34.
Evolution and Junpei Retrieval
Gojo warns Kyoto’s students that Jue is under his personal instruction and threatens Gakuganji against further covert attacks. When Jue becomes dormant during his evolution, Gojo recognizes the danger, orders careful transport to underground confinement, and reinforces the room 37.
After Jue awakens, Gojo buys him barbecue and briefs him on disappearances connected to Junpei. He assigns Junpei’s retrieval, agrees to a hundred-million-yen payment for catching Mahito, and warns that the cursed spirit’s technique directly touches the soul 38.
Kyoto Goodwill Event
Gojo uses the valuable Heaven-Reversing Cloud fragment to interest Jue in competing, while warning that Gakuganji has ordered Kyoto’s students to execute him. He announces the forest exorcism contest and its reward: a reasonable demand from the winning team to the losers 40 42.
His intervention in Jue’s battle with Kenjaku gives Kenjaku an opportunity to escape through Opening Gate. Gojo stops Jue from pursuing, explaining that the escape route is Kenjaku’s home turf, and later reports applying for a twenty-million-yen bonus 47.
After the interrupted team contest, Gojo presents the fragment as the individual competition’s first-place prize and personally watches over the event. During Jue’s victory over Noritoshi Kamo, he mocks Gakuganji’s reliance on bloodlines and cursed techniques 48 50.
