The Black Emperor Card in hand
"According to that kid, he put forward our church's proposal at today's meeting, and many people agreed, but the attitude of the key figures is not clear."
"First is Earl Wolf's older brother, Kask Wolf. His attitude is unclear; he hasn't expressed any opinion and remains neutral."
"Then there's Portland, who's firmly opposed. Kronos means there's absolutely no room for compromise."
Horamick had already closed his book and was listening to Ikanser's words.
"If you're just here to report this Information to me, you probably can't continue to be in charge of this matter." Horamick's tone was gentle, but his words were stern.
"Of course not, Archbishop. I've already inquired. That Kask is a politician; he doesn't have a strong desire for other things. So if we help him in this regard, he shouldn't refuse our request."
"We now have nearly 50% support, and with his support as well, we might be able to bypass Portland and get this done directly, thus avoiding facing that old man."
Horamick nodded and asked, "We don't have many connections in this area. Have you figured out what to do?"
When it came to this issue, Ikanser was completely stumped.
"I haven't decided yet. I know some people in Backlund, but none of them are capable of making this happen."
Yes, as the Captain of the Machinery Hivemind, everyone he knows is from the Extraordinary World. Even if it's just about finding a way to extend Kask's life, Ikanser would dare to say he'd try. But getting a promotion is really a bit difficult for him.
Horamick's tone remained as gentle as ever. "Don't you want to think things through? You come here to steal missions, just for a little bit of credit. Aren't you stupid?"
Ikanser didn't dare to say anything, just standing there, accepting whatever beatings and scoldings came from her.
After a long pause, Horamick said, "I'll handle this. Let's get this settled as soon as possible, lest things get complicated."
Upon hearing the Archbishop's words, Ikanser's face lit up with joy. With Horamick's status, negotiating this matter was practically a sure thing.
"What's so funny? You're happy that someone of my status is getting involved in this kind of thing?"
That one sentence immediately wiped the smile off Ikanser's face, and she reverted to her previous submissive and defiant demeanor.
That expression made Horamick laugh in exasperation, and he chuckled and cursed, "Get lost!"
Upon hearing this, Ikanser didn't say a word and turned to leave.
Just then, Horamick added, "Remember to give that little Argel Family a little treat; don't leave him empty-handed, even the dumbest person would complain."
"Uh..." Ikanser hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but then stopped.
Horamick noticed this too, and said directly, "Just say what you want to say, don't beat around the bush."
"That kid just asked me if there were any of Roselle's things in the Church, like he was asking for something, so I ignored him."
"It's fine to show it to him, but he definitely can't leave. Each Roselle Memorial Exhibition brings in a considerable amount of income." The Archbishop concluded the matter.
"Yes, Archbishop, I understand."
A while later, Kronos met Ikanser again.
"There are indeed some of Roselle's things in the Church, but I can't give you any of them. You can only take a look, and I can only lend them to you for a few days at most."
On the surface, Kronos looked disappointed, but inside he was very happy because this was exactly what he wanted to achieve; he had just thought he had no chance.
Seeing Kronos's disappointed expression, Ikanser had a change of heart and comforted him, "I can lend you some more time. You're probably only doing this for Roselle's materials. I'll give you enough time to copy a copy."
In Ikanser's view, what value did Roselle's "relics" have in terms of preservation? The only interesting thing about them was the manuscripts, and Kronos's only target was these things.
Kronos hesitated for a moment, then nodded and said, "Those manuscripts will do. I'll Replication a copy and send it back to you later. Is that alright?"
Ikanser nodded; in any case, it wouldn't cause any loss to Saint Hilleran Cathedral.
Following Ikanser, Kronos arrived at the storeroom of the Saint Hilarion Church.
Kronos was completely bewildered. He truly hadn't expected that Emperor Roselle's belongings would be placed here. Even if they were just some odds and ends, unworthy of the Church's Treasury, it was still inexplicable that they would be stored in such a storage room.
Finally, Kronos followed Ikanser to a place covered by a cloth, Ikanser pointed to a pile of things covered by a cloth in front of them.
"It's right here. Take whatever you want, but remember to bring it back later. These are all treasures from our Church, so don't lose them."
Kronos never expected that Ikanser could say such things without batting an eye. He just stared at Ikanser blankly, then looked around at the surroundings.
Kronos didn't speak, but Ikanser had already deduced what he wanted to say from his actions. After a while, he couldn't hold back any longer and fled in panic.
Before leaving, he left with the words, "Remember to come back sometime!"
Kronos watched Ikanser's flustered steps, a slight smile appearing on his lips.
Now that no one was watching, Kronos could finally take a good look at this pile of "junk".
The cloth covering the clutter was lifted, revealing a small mountain of miscellaneous items.
It was all everyday items, like bedding and dishes, but the most conspicuous thing was the gold-colored Flush Toilet.
Although the placement was rather haphazard, it was clear that someone had still organized these items into categories.
So Kronos ignored these everyday items and went straight to the pile of books.
These books not only contain Roselle's own diaries and manuscripts, but also books that Roselle had read and collected in the past. Kronos flipped through them and found that they were all legitimate contents.
These include not only leisure reading materials such as novels, but also some literary works with higher literary merit, as well as many professional books, not limited to mechanical engineering, but also covering many other fields.
After flipping through a few books, Kronos felt he could pack them all up and take them with him, since they were all valuable pieces of knowledge.
So Kronos ultimately chose to take all the books and manuscripts with him.
Before moving out, he specifically looked for it and found the "plagiarism notebook" and the bookmarks inside.
This is the most important thing; you always need to confirm it beforehand before making a decision. Otherwise, it would be quite amusing if you brought back hundreds of books without any clear purpose.
Kronos couldn't move so many books himself, so he had to call for help, not only his own cart driver but also two people from the Church.
Finally, looking at the carriage piled high with books, Kronos decided to walk home himself; it wasn't far anyway.
Kronos's Villa wasn't far away, and when he walked home, the Servants and coachmen had already carried all his books into the hall.
When he first received these books, Kronos was so excited that he couldn't wait to fly home and study the new Blasphemy Card. But after taking a walk outside for a while, his mood gradually calmed down.
Kronos squatted in his living room, facing a pile of books, slowly flipping through them.
Of all these books, only one or two were actually useful; he was just picking those out.
Finally, Kronos produced several of the booklets, including Emperor Roselle's "plagiarized" creative manual, his own whimsical ideas, and many famous "Roselle's Diaries."
As for the rest, Kronos pointed to them and said to the Servants, "Record down all these books. If they are for sale outside, buy a copy. If not, make a copy by hand."
Many of these books are still being published and are still available for purchase, but some have indeed become unique items.
Emperor Roselle's achievements were quite remarkable, and it's impossible that only his poetry and novels have been passed down to posterity. He also published some works in the fields of science and politics, but these were no longer printed after his forced death, so they are no longer available for purchase.
However, these books are quite interesting, and Kronos believes they are worth studying carefully, as they might yield some new discoveries.
After giving his instructions, Kronos took the items and went into his room to begin his research.
Compared to the Black Emperor Card, these manuscripts were completely unappealing, so as soon as they entered the room, Kronos tossed them aside.
Kronos pulled out the bookmark depicting Emperor Roselle from the book. From the outside, the bookmark was nothing special; it was just one of those common bookmarks featuring the image of Emperor Roselle. If Kronos hadn't read the original book, he wouldn't have noticed anything special about it.
Kronos didn't need to try to break the seal like Klein did, because he already knew. He simply looked at the bookmark and said in Ancient Feysac, "Bernadette!"
After a short while, the bookmark in Kronos's hand sank slightly, and then it generated an invisible vortex that frantically absorbed Kronos's spirit.
A clear light gradually rose from the bookmark, and the image of Emperor Roselle on the outside was transformed.
He sat on Ancient stone throne, wearing a black crown inlaid with various jewels. He wore black armor and a matching cloak, held a scepter in his hand, and gazed ahead with indifferent eyes.
In the bottom left corner of the bookmark, glittering Starlight coalesced into a line of text:
"Sequence 0: Black Emperor!"
