A contract transaction
"Twenty thousand Pound Sterling," the host stated the price directly.
This price is a bit outrageous. It should logically be around 13,000 or 14,000. It's obvious that the host wants to charge more.
Kronos wasn't going to be fooled, so he naturally wouldn't just accept any price you offered. He said, "Fifteen thousand. I'll give you a chance to make money, but that's the price. If you try to bargain further, I won't take it."
Seeing that Kronos had said so, and that the price was indeed very reasonable, the host agreed without much consideration.
"Sir, how will you pay?"
Kronos chuckled, then reached into his Cloak and handed a check to the host.
"So? Do you need to verify it?" Kronos asked.
The host smiled and said, "It's still necessary. After all, it's not a cash transaction, so both checks and bank transfers require verification."
"But it's so late, how are you going to verify it?"
"It's very simple. Just cooperate and sign the contract. If you give me a legitimate check, there won't be any problems."
He didn't say the second half of the sentence aloud: this contract would definitely come with severe Punishment, and if there were any problems, Kronos would suffer immense Affliction.
Kronos wasn't lying; the check was real, the money was real, so he said, "No problem."
Logically, such transactions should have been settled after the Trading Gathering, but given the high value of the goods, the Trading Gathering was suspended without any complaints.
The host and another person led Kronos to a secluded spot and produced a golden cross.
Kronos didn't even need the Eyes of Mystery Prying to observe it; he knew it must be Beyonder Item from the Sun Pathway.
Just as the presiding officer was drafting the contract, Kronos asked, "Is this cross for sale?"
The host paused, pen in hand, then replied, "No, I have no right to decide that."
Kronos thought he wouldn't answer, but he did, and then continued, "Can't I ask?"
"No."
"Can I buy more Beyonder Item from you?"
"Private transactions are not allowed, but you can continue to come to this Exchange Gathering; there will be a fine piece available each time."
What's the point of not being able to trade privately? Kronos will be leaving Backlund in a month or two, and he might not be able to participate next time.
But since this person is so resolute, there's probably no room for negotiation.
Kronos stopped "harassing" the host and wrote the contract much faster.
After finally completing the contract, he placed the cross on it, and both the cross and the contract shone with golden light.
After the golden light faded, he handed the contract and pen directly to Kronos.
Kronos asked doubtfully, "Shouldn't you let me see the contract before activating your ability? What if I don't agree to a certain clause? Wouldn't you have used your skill for nothing?"
The host casually remarked, "If you disagree, you don't have to buy."
The host was in a bad mood, so he didn't pay much attention to Kronos.
I originally thought that choosing this item would be a way to fool the people at the Exchange Gathering, but I didn't expect this person to ruin it.
Seeing the host's poor attitude, the person who came with him quickly explained, "It's not that we're unreasonable, it's just that we're not professionals. We've encountered people through Lawyer Pathway before."
"As long as we can accept the revised terms, they can gain the most benefits, and even steal things from us without paying any price. From then on, we never revised the terms again; if we can't accept them, then we don't do business."
Kronos almost burst out laughing; he'd really been tricked.
Such contracts are indeed easy for Lawyer Pathway to find loopholes in; if your stipulations are not strict, they can find ways to exempt themselves from liability.
If you give them a chance to revise, they'll be in deep trouble without even knowing how they got there.
Kronos glanced at the contract; it wasn't anything serious, merely stipulating that he had to pay the Pound Sterling for the transaction at the time of the deal.
The check was already in their hands, which meant that if the check was fake, they would be Punishment along with the bone.
The Punishment was indeed severe; he lost a hand.
This Punishment looks very familiar; it seems to be used to Punishment thieves and con artists.
This is making everyone feel their Affliction!
But it was nothing, so Kronos didn't hesitate at all and directly signed his name on the contract—"Klein".
It's not about making Mr. Fool a scapegoat or trying to find loopholes; the main problem is that we can't just sign Kronos directly, that would expose ourselves, wouldn't it?
The pseudonym is a minor matter. The name on the check just given wasn't even his real name. It was a withdrawal from the identity account opened by Amyrius's Secretary, so the signature was naturally Carlson Norman.
Kronos handed over a check for Carlson and then signed Klein's name on the contract—perfect.
However, this won't affect anything, because this contract is, after all, a mystical contract, which is actually connected to the aura of the signatory, not their name.
Therefore, even if Kronos simply places a dot on it, the contract is considered successfully signed; there's no need to write his real name.
Seeing that Kronos readily signed the contract, the host felt reassured and handed him the Demigod's bone.
Kronos did not set the bone, but instead gestured for him to place it on a nearby stone. Both men were puzzled, but they did as Kronos instructed.
Kronos believed that the first thing to do now was to examine the area thoroughly with the Eyes of Mystery Prying.
When dealing with people on the Error Pathway, you can never be too careful. If there's a Worm of Time among them that Parasitism you, you're doomed.
They looked at it carefully for a long time, so long that the two people next to them finally realized what was going on.
The host was still very angry and was about to argue, which clearly showed a lack of trust.
But the person next to him stopped him; they couldn't just argue there.
After several rounds of inspection, Kronos finally dared to pick up the box, then gently closed the lid and put it inside his Cloak.
Then a sarcastic voice was heard. "If you're a coward, don't take it! You dare to take it back? Aren't you afraid I'll tamper with it?"
Kronos turned his head and saw that it was the host who was speaking. From those words, Kronos knew what the host was talking about.
Kronos chuckled lightly, "You're not suited to your current Pathway." Then he turned and left.
"What does he mean by that?" the host said angrily to the person next to him.
The man shook his head and asked, "So, are you still going to host this Exchange Gathering? There are people waiting for you over there."
"Go to hell!"
Kronos quickly returned to the shed, and as soon as he entered, he attracted everyone's attention.
One of them asked directly, "Brother, is the deal done?"
Kronos nodded without saying a word.
"Where's the moderator? Aren't Exchange Gathering?"
Kronos didn't know the answer to this question either, so he could only say, "I don't know either. They should be here soon."
Not long after, a person emerged from the woods. Judging from his physique, this was not the previous host, but another person who had come with Kronos.
He walked to the host's seat and said, "The previous host wasn't feeling well, so I'll take over."
Kronos laughed; he truly hadn't expected that his single remark would drive him away.
However, if an Beyonder entered this path through the Error Pathway would have such a mindset, then this Sequence is indeed not very suitable for him. Instead, the Red Priest or the Tyrant might be more appropriate.
Kronos's words were indeed somewhat sarcastic, but they also contained genuinely sincere advice.
Seeing Kronos's smile, everyone in the shed knew something must have happened and they were all quite curious, but no one in the know said anything, and they weren't close to him, so no one asked.
"Now that the best items have been sold, let's continue the Exchange Gathering and not waste any more time on other things," the new host said.
Everyone present nodded in agreement. It was getting late, and if they didn't start now, there was no need to wait until later.
Seeing that everyone agreed, the host said directly, "Alright, let's begin now."
The start was a bit rushed, but it didn't affect anything; one person immediately stood up.
"Everyone here, I would like to purchase a fully grown Mind Dragon, whether in person or from informational sources. Does anyone have what I need?"
The Mind Dragon? Kronos is very familiar with this name; he even wrote about it before.
This is thanks to "Miss Justice" Audrey. The original Lord of the Mysteries describes the Potion Formula for the Visionary's Sequence in great detail, so Kronos once carefully recalled them and even copied them again.
This Mind Dragon is one of the important materials.
The primary material for Sequence 5, the Dreamwalker, requires the complete brain of Adult Mind Dragon, while the secondary material requires the blood of Adult Mind Dragon.
The Visionary"Pathway is somewhat clearly oriented, likely inseparable from the scope of the Psychology Alchemists.
However, the act of collecting materials outside is somewhat suspicious. After all, the Psychology Alchemists relies on the Twilight Hermit Order, and with Adam around, this organization is quite wealthy.
