With that, the entire guild descended into chaos, while Happy calmly said from the sidelines, "All right, all right, Natsu. Keep it under control."
But when Happy spotted Carla with Wendy, he flew over with hearts in his eyes.
"Carla, I missed you so much!"
"Hmph." Carla ignored him and turned her head away. Even so, Happy kept hovering around her, telling her about meeting Lucy.
"Here we go again. The master will be angry when he gets back," Mira said helplessly as she watched the guild dissolve into chaos.
"It's fine. This is what Fairy Tail is all about." Xi Feng merely smiled at the chaotic guild. Just then, however, he noticed a blonde girl.
"Hmm? Lucy?" Looking at Lucy, Xi Feng smiled, walked over, and asked, "Are you new here?"
Hearing someone address her, Lucy turned around, then froze. A handsome, black-haired man stood before her.
"Xi Feng! It's really you!"
"Hello," Xi Feng greeted Lucy.
"Hello... I'm Lucy." Looking at Xi Feng, Lucy seemed a little nervous. She immediately diverted her attention, pointing at the chaotic guild. "Is it really okay not to stop them?"
"Don't worry about them. You'll get used to it," Xi Feng said, shaking his head.
Bang! But just as Xi Feng finished speaking, a fireball struck him squarely in the head!
"You guys! You never learn!" Xi Feng's magic power surged as he spoke. Lucy was completely dumbfounded by now, because the guild had turned into a magical battlefield.
"All of you, stop!!!"
An enormous figure appeared and shouted.
"He's huge!" Lucy stared at the enormous figure, stunned once again.
Everyone in the guild stopped at the sound of his voice, and the entire hall fell silent.
"Oh, Master, you're here," Mira said, breaking the silence.
"Hmm? A newcomer?" Makarov noticed Lucy as well. His body slowly returned to its normal size, and he said to her, "Nice to meet you!"
"He's tiny!" Lucy looked astonished as she stared at Makarov. "Wait, the guild master is..."
"That's right." Xi Feng came to Lucy's side and told her, "This is Fairy Tail's guild master, Makarov."
"You lot!" Makarov looked at everyone in the guild. "You've caused trouble again! Look! These are all documents sent by the councilors! There are so many! Every single one is a complaint! Honestly, you lot keep getting me scolded!"
Everyone in the guild fell silent, saying nothing. Then Makarov abruptly changed his tune. "But! Those councilors are worth less than shit! Listen, all power that transcends reason is born within reason. Magic isn't some miraculous power. It takes concrete form before us through the joining of the wavelengths of the energy flowing within us and the energy flowing through nature. That requires mental strength and concentration—no, pouring your entire soul into it. That is magic! If you keep worrying about complaints from those higher-ups, you'll never advance in the magical arts. Don't fear those fools on the council. Follow the path you believe in! That's what it means to be a Fairy Tail Mage!"

Makarov's speech sent all of Fairy Tail into an uproar! It also won over the heart of their newest member, Lucy.
Though it was a bit of a mess, the guild was unexpectedly warm!
Chapter 29: Going on a Job with Lucy
Mages actually needed money quite badly. After all, they were people too, and needed food, clothing, shelter, and transportation.
As a newcomer, Lucy had only just joined Fairy Tail. Though her family was very wealthy, she had run away from home and had hardly any money on her. She needed to earn some as soon as possible, or she would probably end up sleeping on the streets! The guild did provide dormitories for its Mages, but even the relatively modest fee was more than Lucy could currently afford.
Xi Feng had planned to invite Lucy to stay at his house earlier, but after seeing that gentle, tender smile, he had said nothing more.
"What job should I take?" Looking at the jobs on the request board, Lucy was deeply torn. Extermination jobs paid well, but they were dangerous too, and would be difficult to complete with her abilities. Safer jobs, meanwhile, offered lower rewards.
"Lucy, are you getting ready to take a job?" Hearing a rich, resonant voice, Lucy turned slightly. When she saw Xi Feng, she nodded and said, "Yes, but I don't know which one to take."
"I see. Let me help you look."
"That would be great! Thank you, Xi Feng!" Lucy grew excited when she heard that he would help her.
"We're guildmates, after all," Xi Feng said lightly. He then turned to the request board. After looking for a while, he pulled down a request and said, "This one."
"Hmm?" Lucy took the request from Xi Feng and read it.
"Shirotsume Town? No way! We can get 200,000 J just for taking a book from Duke Everlue's mansion?!"
The generous reward made Lucy's eyes sparkle, but then she noticed the note at the bottom.
"Warning: a lecherous pervert. Currently hiring blonde maids."
"This job is perfect for you. You can slip right in, Lucy." Xi Feng gave her a wicked smile. Truthfully, he also wanted to see Lucy in a maid outfit.
"But... but..." Looking at the reward, Lucy wanted to refuse, yet couldn't bring herself to do it. Once again, she was torn.
"Don't worry. Leave your safety to me," Xi Feng said confidently, patting his chest.
"What?"
"Let's team up, Lucy."
"Team up?" For a moment, Lucy didn't understand what Xi Feng meant.
"Everyone in the guild is a comrade, but people who are especially close gather together and form teams. A job that's difficult for one person becomes much easier with a team."
"All right, I'll take this job." Lucy looked at the request in her hands and nodded.
"Here's to working together."

On the way to Duke Everlue's mansion, Xi Feng was looking at the scenery along the road when Lucy asked, "Xi Feng, why did you decide to team up with me?"
"Hmm." Xi Feng thought for a moment, then said, "You're beautiful, Lucy, and you seem like a nice person. I like you."
"Ah..." Lucy's face instantly turned red at his words, and her imagination ran wild. What does Xi Feng mean? Is he confessing to me? We haven't even known each other for a day! "Could you tell us why?"
"I want that book burned, no matter what. I cannot allow it to exist. And if you destroy it, I'll raise the reward to two million."
"Two million?!" Lucy was instantly shocked, and even Xi Feng was somewhat moved.
"So please, I'm counting on you."
"No problem." Xi Feng nodded, then said to Lucy, "Let's go, Lucy!"
"Right, right." Lucy came back to her senses, then asked Xi Feng, "Could you wait for me a moment?"
"What for?" Though puzzled, he still nodded.
"Mr. Melon, could I borrow a room for a little while?"
"Help yourself."
A while later, Lucy emerged from the room wearing a maid outfit, leaving Xi Feng completely stunned. Then she said in a syrupy voice, "Master... do I look pretty?"
"Well..." Looking at Lucy, Xi Feng could only smile wryly. He hadn't expected her to take him seriously and actually believe he wanted her to infiltrate the mansion.
"You do look pretty, but there's no need for this, Lucy."
"Huh? How are we supposed to sneak in otherwise?" Xi Feng's words left Lucy stunned.
"Sneak in? It's very simple."
"Simple?"
But when Lucy and Xi Feng reached Duke Everlue's mansion, Lucy finally learned just how simple it was.
Xi Feng walked up to the entrance and delivered a heavy kick to the doors. With a boom, they burst open.
"How is this sneaking in?! You're plainly barging in!" Lucy protested from beside Xi Feng.
"Who are you?! How dare you destroy the gates of the estate of someone as great as me!" Just as Xi Feng kicked open the estate's gates, Duke Everlue emerged from the ground, followed by a gorilla-like maid.
"A Fairy Tail Mage, of course!" Xi Feng glanced at Duke Everlue and threw a punch straight at him.
"How dare you attack someone as great as me!" Just as Xi Feng's fist came toward him, Duke Everlue burrowed back into the ground, evading the attack. He then emerged several dozen meters from Yun Tian and glared furiously at Xi Feng.
