Ch. 102Dreadlords = telecom scammers

Herad used the small Arcane Golem to destroy an Orc camp and silenced Ulthalesh after rejecting its promises. The next morning, he arranged to meet the Wildhammer Dwarves’ incoming Gryphons at Quel’Lithien Lodge, where the Windrunners were warmly welcomed by the Rangers.

  • Herad’s small Arcane Golem harvested Orcs and Ogres for two hours, leaving the camp in ruins before Herad departed with Ulthalesh.
  • Herad concluded that the Arcane Golem could wield Ulthalesh safely, then sealed the artifact’s speech after it tried to tempt him with promises of conquest.
  • The White Hawkstrider inspected the small Arcane Golem, ate its food, and went outside to play with the other birds.
  • Herad received Jindi’s message that the Wildhammer Dwarves’ Gryphons were already on their way to Quel’Thalas.
  • Herad brought Lireesa Windrunner, Alleria, and Sylvanas to Quel’Lithien Lodge, where the Rangers greeted their former commanders and warmly welcomed Lireesa.

Ch. 103Gryphons acquired

The Windrunner family received four gryphons from the Wildhammer Dwarves, and Lireesa Windrunner successfully tested one while Herad planned how to support gryphon breeding and repay the dwarves. Inspired by the gryphons’ flight, Herad abandoned his Arcane Golem Warhorse idea and decided to pursue magical levitation technology for a flight module.

  • The Windrunner family and the Wildhammer Dwarves completed the gryphon handover and exchanged beast-taming knowledge.
  • Lireesa Windrunner rode a gryphon on a successful test flight, cheering the watching rangers and delighting Herad.
  • The Windrunner family settled the four gryphons in Windrunner Village, where Herad considered expanding the pasture gradually to feed them.
  • Herad traveled to the Wildhammer Dwarves with gnome and goblin engineers to begin setting up the promised aerial bomb production line.
  • After hearing Lirath and his playmates praise flying over riding, Herad decided to seek magical levitation technology and build a Flight Module for an arcane golem.

Ch. 104Raid on the Dark Portal

Herad attacked the Orc forces guarding the Dark Portal with a Small Arcane Golem and elite fire elementals. The battle continued as the Orcs' rage-empowered warriors charged the golem and were cut down by its artifact scythe.

  • Herad searched Medivh's books for magical levitation technology, found none, and decided to visit Draenor through the Dark Portal.
  • Herad flew to the Black Morass, circled the Dark Portal, and confirmed that only ordinary Orc troops were stationed nearby.
  • Herad deployed the Small Arcane Golem with an artifact scythe and summoned elite fire elementals to attack the Orc camp.
  • The fire elementals set the Orcs' houses ablaze while the golem cut through the defenders with its scythe.
  • Some Orcs awakened their rage energy and charged the golem, but its Bladestorm sliced them apart.

Ch. 105Seizing Control of the Dark Portal

Herad sent Fire Elementals through the Dark Portal, overwhelming the Orcs defending it while he maintained the summoning array. After the array collapsed, he approached the portal himself to investigate the world beyond.

  • Doomhammer, Ulthalesh, and the Fire Elementals fought the Orcs as the Fire Elementals proved the main force driving them back.
  • Herad sent the Fire Elementals through the Dark Portal to scout while avoiding entering before he knew what awaited on the other side.
  • Herad summoned varied fire elemental creatures, including a Lava Hound wearing a valuable metal collar, and decided to claim the collar after the creature died.
  • The Lava Hound tore through Orcs Infantry, then followed its kind through the Dark Portal into the unknown world.
  • After his summoning array began to collapse, Herad walked toward the Dark Portal and examined its immense stone frame.

Ch. 106Draenor without elemental power

Herad crossed the Dark Portal into Draenor and discovered that sealed elemental power had weakened him and his Doomhammer. After the fire elementals and Small Arcane Golem fought the orcs, Herad ordered a retreat through the portal, while he worried that finding Gul'dan might mean entering the dangerous Tomb of Sargeras.

  • Herad arrived in Hellfire Peninsula and saw that the land was only mildly corrupted, though the fire elemental army had set nearby forests ablaze.
  • Herad tested Draenor's sealed elemental power and found that he could barely conjure a flame and had lost much of his strength.
  • Herad realized that he needed Gul'dan and the Cipher of Damnation to restore elemental power, but feared Gul'dan had already entered the Tomb of Sargeras.
  • The Small Arcane Golem and Ulthalesh kept fighting as the fire elemental army suffered heavy losses against the orcs.
  • Herad spotted another orc army assembling in the Blasted Lands and ordered his forces to retreat through the Dark Portal.
  • The orcs failed to stop the retreat, and their warlord chose not to pursue the enemy through the portal.

Ch. 107Hand it over!

Herad captured a Black Knight near Karazhan and used him to locate the buried demonic sword Apocalypse in the Badlands. After Apocalypse corrupted the Black Knight, an Arcane Scavenger knocked him down and seized the sword.

  • Herad escaped the Orcs’ battlefield on an Arcane Rocket while the Orcs blamed the strange deaths and flying object on ghosts from the haunted Mage Tower.
  • Herad found a Black Knight pinned by Arcane Scavengers near Karazhan, chained him to the rocket, and flew north over Blackrock Spire.
  • Herad released the Black Knight in the Badlands, where the Black Knight sensed and dug up Apocalypse from its shallow grave.
  • The Black Knight took Apocalypse and became corrupted, imagining he would kill Herad, obtain more Artifacts, kill Medivh, and conquer the world.
  • An Arcane Scavenger slapped the Black Knight down and took Apocalypse from him.

Ch. 108The terrifying demon sword Apocalypse

Herad brought the demon sword Apocalypse to Searing Gorge to destroy it, after learning how its curses had devastated civilizations and corrupted its wielders. A Blackrock Orc patrol attacked, and the Small Arcane Golem wielding Apocalypse and Ulthalesh slaughtered most of them before Herad continued toward the gorge’s lava pools.

  • Herad considered Apocalypse’s history of spreading plague, famine, fear, and betrayal, and decided it needed to be destroyed.
  • Herad chose Searing Gorge for the attempt, avoiding the Badlands because he hoped its land could one day be reclaimed.
  • Herad activated Ice Barrier against Searing Gorge’s extreme heat, drawing the attention of a Blackrock Orc patrol.
  • The Small Arcane Golem charged the Blackrock Orc Worg riders with Apocalypse and Ulthalesh, killing most of them with Bladestorm and frightening the survivors into fleeing.
  • Herad headed for the deepest part of Searing Gorge to try destroying Apocalypse in the lava pools.

Ch. 109Apocalypse, the Indestructible Demon Sword

Herad failed to destroy Apocalypse in Searing Gorge and sealed it in a thorium sword case. He then set out with the Black Knight to find more artifacts in Tirisfal Glades, including Tyr's Silver Hand and Strom'kar, the Warbreaker.

  • Herad had fire elementals heat Apocalypse in a magma pool, but the sword remained intact.
  • Herad retrieved Apocalypse and sealed it inside a thick thorium sword case.
  • Herad decided to travel to Tirisfal Glades to collect Tyr's Silver Hand and Strom'kar, the Warbreaker.
  • Herad relied on the Black Knight to help locate Tyr's Tomb in the Whispering Forest.

Ch. 110Trouble at Tyr's Tomb

Herad uncovered Tyr's Tomb in the Whispering Forest and sent a swarm of fire elementals inside to fight its shadow creatures. As the battle raged, the Small Arcane Golem used Apocalypse to drain the life force of a powerful Faceless One.

  • The Black Knight sensed an Artifact, and Herad followed him through the Whispering Forest as shadow creatures attacked.
  • Herad used Earth Rift to open the ground and expose the buried entrance to Tyr's Tomb.
  • Herad bound the Black Knight and sent hundreds of fire elementals into the tomb to clear out its shadow creatures.
  • The fire elementals fought through the tomb, while Lava Turtles concentrated their flames on the powerful Faceless Ones.
  • The Small Arcane Golem attacked a huge Faceless One with Ulthalesh and Apocalypse, then drained its life force with the demonic sword.

Ch. 111Such a Huge Silver Hand

Herad and his forces slaughtered the Faceless Ones in the Central Hall and recovered the Silver Hand, which the Arcane Scavenger wielded to clear the hall. They entered the underground passage and found Zakaaz’s corpse, which the Fire Elementals were already attacking to prevent its resurrection.

  • The Small Arcane Golem used Apocalypse to drain the Faceless One leader’s vitality, and Ulthalesh killed it and unleashed a deadly crimson blade beam against another Faceless One.
  • The Fire Elementals held back the Faceless Ones while Herad summoned reinforcements, and the army pushed into the Central Hall.
  • Herad broke the shadow chains binding the Silver Hand with Arcane Missiles, and the falling hammer crushed many shadow creatures.
  • The Arcane Scavenger picked up the Silver Hand and used it to kill the remaining Faceless Ones before entering the underground passage.
  • Herad found the Fire Elementals attacking Zakaaz’s corpse, which had to remain dead to prevent the destruction of the Kingdom of Lordaeron.

Ch. 112The Dragon Aspects took matters into their own hands

Herad brought Alexstrasza to Tyr’s Tomb, where the Dragon Aspects learned that Zakaaz had killed Tyr and moved the Faceless One’s corpse to the north pole. The Aspects began preparing to destroy Zakaaz, with Malygos placing an arcane crystal in the corpse’s wound.

  • Herad asked Alexstrasza to help dispose of Zakaaz’s corpse and told her he had found where Tyr fell.
  • Alexstrasza entered Tyr’s Tomb and pulled Zakaaz’s corpse from the underground cavern.
  • Malygos arrived, vented his anger on Zakaaz’s corpse, and opened a Portal to the north polar region.
  • Nozdormu and Ysera joined them, and Nozdormu confirmed Zakaaz was powerful and had killed Tyr.
  • Malygos removed Strom'kar, the Warbreaker from Zakaaz’s wound and inserted a purplish-black crystal orb.

Ch. 113Target: Tomb of Sargeras

Malygos’s arcane bomb destroyed Zakaaz’s corpse, and the Dragon Aspects purified its remains while reforging Strom’kar, the Warbreaker. Herad then led them to the southern Broken Isles to deal with Sargeras’s buried avatar, where they arrived above a battle between Gul’dan’s servants and Horde-loyal Orcs.

  • Malygos detonated an arcane bomb that shattered Zakaaz’s corpse, and the Dragon Aspects burned its fragments until nothing remained.
  • The Dragon Aspects reforged Strom’kar, the Warbreaker, but its altered appearance made Herad abandon the idea of giving it to Sir Lothar.
  • Herad warned the Dragon Aspects that Aegwynn had carelessly buried Sargeras’s avatar, whose fel-corrupted corpse threatened the Broken Isles.
  • Malygos located Gul’dan’s forces and teleported the group to a temple, where Gul’dan’s servants and Horde-loyal Orcs were fighting.
  • Herad prepared to eliminate the enemies below while the Dragon Aspects watched without attacking the mortals.

Ch. 114The death of Gul'dan

Herad trapped the Orcs at the Temple and entered after Gul'dan, who was fighting demons drawn to Sargeras's buried avatar. Gul'dan was killed by a Doomguard, and Herad sent his Fire Elementals to defeat the Doomguard as it attacked the elves.

  • Herad killed the Orc guards, stationed Arcane Scavengers and Fire Elementals at the Temple entrance, and had the Small Arcane Golem destroy the Orc ships.
  • Herad entered the Temple and found Gul'dan's forces battling demons summoned by the corpse of Sargeras's avatar.
  • A Doomguard overpowered Gul'dan, consumed his lifesaving charms, and beheaded him.
  • The Doomguard attacked Herad and the elves, but Herad's Fire Elementals burned its wings and brought it down.
  • Herad's Fire Elementals engulfed the grounded Doomguard, preventing it from returning to the Twisting Nether.

Ch. 115The Skull of Gul'dan Acquired

Herad acquired the Skull of Gul'dan and learned that Gul'dan's soul had turned it into an artifact. After opening the Tomb of Sargeras's first underground level, the group found corrupted titan-forged, and Alexstrasza's dragonfire destroyed most of them but left the Maiden of Vigilance alive.

  • Herad examined the Skull of Gul'dan, learned from Malygos how artifact souls formed, and discovered Gul'dan's lingering obsessions and willingness to answer questions.
  • Herad hid the skull on his belt and used Gul'dan's stolen memories to find the mechanism that opened the passage to the first underground level.
  • Herad and the Dragon Aspects entered a vast Titan-built hall and found the fel-corrupted Maiden of Vigilance and her titan-forged underlings.
  • Alexstrasza swept the titan-forged into a pile and burned away their fel with dragonfire, destroying most of them.
  • Alexstrasza found the badly damaged Maiden of Vigilance alive, and the group expected her to repair herself.

Ch. 116Purifying the Fallen Avatar

Herad took the Scepter of Sargeras and brought the Maiden of Virtue from Karazhan to help the Dragon Aspects purify the Maiden of Vigilance and the Fallen Avatar. The chapter left the two holy Titan-forged working together against the fel corruption beneath the island.

  • The Maiden of Vigilance recovered after Alexstrasza purified her with dragonfire, while Herad examined the Eye and Scepter of Sargeras.
  • Herad took the Scepter of Sargeras, whose fel energy had been purified, while the Dragon Aspects considered how to cleanse the still-corrupted Eye.
  • The Maiden of Vigilance showed Herad the Fallen Avatar suspended deep underground, where its fel corruption had tainted the cavern and threatened the island.
  • Herad used the Scepter of Sargeras to teleport to Karazhan and invited the Maiden of Virtue to help.
  • The Maiden of Virtue eagerly crossed the portal and joined the Maiden of Vigilance in purifying the evil.

Ch. 117Searching for the Draenei

Herad and Alleria searched Shadowmoon Valley for the Draenei, hoping to find survivors before the Orcs could slaughter them. Their Gryphon spotted a dead Draenei among evidence of an ongoing Orc hunt, and they continued searching.

  • The Red Dragon Queen urged Herad to find the Draenei so they could settle on unused land, and he ended his vigil over the Fallen Avatar's purification.
  • Herad took Alleria through the Dark Portal and teleported them to the northern edge of Shadowmoon Valley to search discreetly by Gryphon.
  • Herad explained to Alleria that the Draenei had split from the Eredar over joining the Burning Legion, and she instructed the Gryphon to look for their distinctive features.
  • The Gryphon spotted a dead male Draenei hanging from a tree, while the pair saw Orc search parties and more Draenei victims nearby.
  • Alleria urged the Gryphon to keep looking, and it flew onward more carefully.

Ch. 118Temple of Karabor

Herad and Alleria rescued Draenei refugees from Fel Orcs and sent them through a portal to safety on Azeroth. They then watched the Temple of Karabor, hoping to find the Broken resistance fighters, but left when the fighters did not appear.

  • Herad explained that the red-skinned Fel Orcs had gone mad from drinking too much demon blood, then he and Alleria killed the attackers threatening the Draenei.
  • Herad asked the refugees where they could go, and when they had no safe destination, he opened a Portal to Azeroth and sent them through.
  • Herad and Alleria flew to the Temple of Karabor to seek information from the Broken resistance fighters.
  • Herad and Alleria waited near the temple for several hours, but the Broken did not appear, so they decided to return the next day.

Ch. 119Assault on the Temple of Karabor

Herad and Alleria devised a plan to draw the elusive Broken out by attacking the Orc-held Temple of Karabor. Herad led a small Draenei force armed with firearms and mortars in a devastating opening bombardment, leaving the Orcs reeling as the battle began.

  • The Broken attacked the Orc garrison inside the Temple of Karabor, killing more than a dozen guards before vanishing into the wilderness.
  • Herad and Alleria discussed how to reach the cautious Broken, and Alleria proposed attacking the temple to force them to respond.
  • Two days later, Herad brought fewer than three hundred Draenei armed with heavy machine guns, grenade launchers, and mortars to the temple.
  • Herad urged the Draenei to take revenge, and they advanced to a firing position about a thousand meters from the temple.
  • The Draenei mortars bombarded the temple’s stairway, killing many Orc guards and prompting furious roars from within.

Ch. 120Taking the Temple of Karabor

Akama watched Draenei refugees attack the Temple of Karabor, then led the Ashtongue Tribe into battle when they returned the next morning. The Draenei and Broken retook the temple and raised its purple banner, restoring its defenses to their control.

  • Akama observed the Draenei refugees bombard the Temple of Karabor, then stayed hidden as they fled through a portal after running out of ammunition.
  • Herad planned a second assault for the next day after criticizing the Broken for not joining the battle.
  • The Draenei refugees advanced up the temple stairs, with the Small Arcane Golem breaking through buildings held by Orc defenders.
  • Akama committed the Ashtongue Tribe to the fight, and his warriors attacked the Orcs from the sides while the refugees pressed forward.
  • The Draenei and Broken defeated the remaining Orc defenders, tore down the Horde banner, and raised the purple banner over the temple.

Ch. 121The Draenei's High Technology

Herad examined the Temple of Karabor’s defenses and learned how the Draenei’s powerful technology worked, while Akama struggled to operate it and contact Prophet Velen. Velen reported that he had escaped the Burning Legion’s pursuit for now, and Akama trusted him to survive without help.

  • Akama spent half an hour activating the Temple of Karabor’s defense system, prompting Herad to point out that its cumbersome operation left the Draenei vulnerable.
  • Herad inspected the Arcane Furnace and questioned Akama about its slow startup, while Akama failed to reach Prophet Velen on his Magical Communication Device.
  • Akama activated the temple’s layered magic barrier and floating crystal Death Ray weapons, demonstrating how they melted large boulders.
  • Akama received a message saying Prophet Velen had put distance between himself and the pursuing Burning Legion, and he assured Herad that Velen could survive without their help.
