A score of six was more or less a passing grade, while an eight was certainly a good result!
At least, that was how Karin saw it. He had not reached the Third Ring long ago, and as a high elf, his mental strength was naturally weaker than that of humans, dwarves, and gnomes!
He had originally thought he would only score a seven, or even a six. This result was somewhat unexpected.
After saying goodbye to the gnome mage, Karin returned to The Pig and the Whistle in a fairly good mood!
Business at the tavern was brisk, with nearly every seat occupied. Soriel the dwarf was busy serving the customers!
Several drunks seemed to be discussing the mental strength test!
After all, this was Dalaran. Even people who knew nothing about magic would know a little about such things!
"Have you heard about the exceptionally talented young mage who turned up this time?"
"Yes, word's spread everywhere. Apparently, he's from Stormwind City, and he isn't even fourteen yet!"
"I heard his mental strength test result was a ten. A full ten!"
The drunks chattered away, and Karin could not help pricking up his ears.
Having only just taken the mental strength test himself, he knew very well what scoring a ten meant... Even giving it his all, he had only managed an eight, while reaching ten would require at least 50% more mental strength than he had!
And the boy was reportedly not even fourteen...
In other words, either he was entirely made up...
Or he was a monster!
The drunks continued their discussion.
"What was that kid mage's name? Any of you remember?"
"Well... I seem to have forgotten..."
"Wait, I remember... I think it was 'Khadgar'!"
Karin's mouth fell open involuntarily and stayed that way
