Ye Yang was furious too. "Exactly! That asshole! I'd already run all the way back to my base, and he still charged under the turret to kill me. No honor at all!"
Zhao Fei nodded, wholeheartedly agreeing with both of them. "Exactly, and that asshole teammate too! He saw three people ganging up on me and actually ran away instead of saving me. Fuck, not a shred of team spirit! If it were you guys, you'd definitely charge in to save me even if it killed you!"
There was no denying that the three of them had stayed gaming buddies for so long for a reason.
After playing for so long and constantly getting killed, Ji Xiangzhou didn't want to play anymore. "I'm done. I'm heading back."
Ye Yang asked, "Back? Back where? You're going home? Didn't you say you hated going home?"
As he remembered it, Brother Zhou really disliked going home. On previous weekends off, he would rather go home with him and squeeze into his place than return to the Ji Family's huge villa.
Who knew what his problem was.
Ji Xiangzhou looked up. "I'm going back to get my allowance. I'm broke."
He really wasn't going back to snoop into Ji Xiangnian and that sister-in-law who had fallen into his lap.
Ye Yang, however, didn't believe Ji Xiangzhou's explanation. "Hehe, Brother Zhou, tell me the truth. Did suddenly getting a sister-in-law shock you so much that you want to go back and get the gossip?"
Ji Xiangzhou looked up, his gaze a little uneasy, and asked coldly, "Am I the kind of person who's that nosy?"
Zhao Fei chimed in, "Yeah, you are nosy. There was that one time before-whenever people in class started gossiping, you could wake right up from a dead sleep. You never missed a single piece of class gossip."
Ji Xiangzhou disagreed. "Why am I wasting so much breath on you two? I'm heading back. Remember to send me the weekend homework the teachers assigned. I'm off."
With that, Ji Xiangzhou swung his backpack behind him, slung it over one shoulder, turned, and strode out of the bubble tea shop.
Meanwhile, Fang Ning had been about to return to the Ji Family's huge villa, but a phone call from her manager summoned her to the agency.
The agency was downtown, not too far away. It only took half an hour to get there by car.
The agency the original owner had signed with was a small one, and the company wasn't large.
Sister Qing said there was a TV drama opportunity the company had previously secured for her, along with some follow-up matters she needed to discuss. It couldn't be explained in a few words over the phone, so she asked her to come over.
She really didn't know much about the original owner's affairs either, so she went over.
But as soon as she walked inside, a man stopped her.
The man looked like a makeup artist. He wore leather pants and had dyed yellow hair, with elaborate makeup and a face covered in cosmetics, even heavier than the makeup on hers.
The instant their eyes met, his expression changed, but it quickly returned to normal. He gave Fang Ning an indifferent once-over. "Fang Ning, you're here. It's been so long since we last saw you, I thought you'd forgotten our little company after latching onto someone rich."
The words were so malicious that Fang Ning instinctively frowned, then reached out to the system, which she hadn't contacted in a long time.
[System, system, who is this guy?]
The system had just woken up. It yawned and began introducing him to Fang Ning. [Yu Qin, the original owner's coworker and suitor.]
When Fang Ning didn't speak, Yu Qin felt quite annoyed. He had never understood what exactly she had to be so stuck-up about.
Wasn't it just that her family had a little lousy money? And she was a little good-looking.
What was so great about that?
The thought that someone like her had rejected him made Yu Qin even more indignant.
Yu Qin couldn't help continuing his snide remarks.
"Fine, now that you've married someone rich, you won't even acknowledge your coworkers. Fine, fine. How could someone like me possibly deserve to speak to a rich man's wife like you? You're out of my league."
But Fang Ning still ignored Yu Qin and continued listening to the system's explanation.
[He saw that the original owner was pretty and came from a wealthy family, so he kept trying to pursue her and live off her. But the original owner didn't like him. Her reason for rejecting him was that he was too effeminate, and she didn't like men without abs.]
[So, being rejected was bad enough, but being rejected by the original owner for a reason like that made him even angrier.]
At the system's words, Fang Ning almost laughed. Although the original owner's views on love differed from hers, they were surprisingly alike in other respects. For example, they both liked men with abs, and they both had sharp tongues.
Picturing the original owner rejecting this mediocre yet overconfident man was amusing enough to make her want to laugh.
[And Yu Qin believed that if he couldn't have her, he should destroy her. During the period after the original owner rejected him, he was always either making snide remarks about her in front of other people or calling her a gold digger.]
Fang Ning didn't have the temper or patience to deal nicely with someone like that. Going straight on the offensive was the way to go.
Fang Ning looked up and smiled faintly, her voice perfectly even. "Mr. Yu, you've actually got it wrong. My husband isn't really all that rich. But he is richer than you-that much is true."
Those words struck Yu Qin right where it hurt, shattering his composure on the spot. His face went dark, then pale.
There happened to be other staff nearby, so Yu Qin couldn't throw a fit on the spot. The changes in his expression were quite a sight.
Just as he could no longer hold himself together and was about to lose his temper.
Fang Ning waved, ready to make her escape. "Sorry, Mr. Yu, I still have things to discuss with Sister Qing, so I'll be going. I won't stay here catching up with you."
As soon as Fang Ning left, the people nearby couldn't help speaking up on Yu Qin's behalf.
They actually disliked Fang Ning quite a bit too. They had had a minor falling-out with the original owner over something trivial before, so now they found fault with everything about her.
Before, Fang Ning had been nothing more than an obscure nobody with a little family money. They had no idea what she had to be so full of herself about.
