Douyang casually tossed the katana onto the ground and shook his head. "If this were a battlefield, you'd already be a corpse."
"Damn it..."
Uchiha Kazekawa's face was full of resentment.
Douyang casually tossed the katana onto the ground and said coldly, "You lost. Don't let me see you again."
With that, he left the training ground at a brisk pace without so much as glancing at Uchiha Kazekawa.
Konoha apartments.
Kurenai Yuhi was utterly drunk.
Her cheeks were flushed, and a blush had spread over her swanlike neck as well. Beneath the sheer fabric at the chest of her long dress, her jade-like collarbones were faintly visible.
The distinctive fragrance emanating from her body left him restless.
Having dated Kurenai Yuhi for five years, Uchiha Douyang naturally knew her preferences very well.
This woman liked vodka and shochu.
Besides his ridiculously good looks, the most important reason Douyang had stood out among her many suitors and won Kurenai Yuhi over was that he catered to her tastes.
Back then, he had plied this girl with plenty of alcohol.
But was getting completely wasted before a date really a good idea?
You want me to do all the work?
That would be exhausting.
Douyang thought for a moment, slipped a hand beneath Kurenai Yuhi's knees, swept her up into his arms, and headed for the bathroom.
Let's give her a hot bath.
With that thought, Douyang placed his hand at Kurenai Yuhi's waist and slowly slid it up along her spine, his fingers settling on the zipper.
Zip.
With a faint sound, he pulled it all the way down.
The upper part of her long dress slipped down a little, but not completely.
Her snow-white shoulders came into view.
As Douyang had expected, she wasn't wearing panties.
With her skin exposed to the cold air, Kurenai Yuhi's delicate body shivered, and she seemed to instinctively hold Douyang tighter.
"Don't squirm."
Douyang placed both hands on the white sleeves covering her snow-white arms and gave them a gentle tug.
The lovely sight revealed before him made Douyang pause for a moment.
He remembered a game he had played when he was very young.
Filling balloons with water, then squeezing them over and over.
"What are you waiting for? Keep going."
Kurenai Yuhi suddenly murmured softly, wrapping her hands around the back of Douyang's head.
Douyang glanced at Kurenai Yuhi, whose slightly narrowed eyes held a hint of anticipation, and the corners of his mouth twitched.
So you weren't drunk after all. You really know how to play!
With a soft chuckle, Douyang slowly opened his mouth, lowered his head, and tasted the pomelos.
Pomelos had thick skins, plenty of flesh, and were rich in vitamins.
Eating them regularly was good for one's health.
In the dim bathroom, Kurenai Yuhi rose onto her tiptoes, touching the floor now and then. At some point, all ten of her fingers had buried themselves deep in Douyang's hair.
The next morning, Douyang was still groggy and asleep.
A masked figure suddenly appeared outside the window. Judging by the long purple hair exposed to the air, it was a woman.
Uzuki Yugao.
She had originally been in the Anbu, and after Torifu Akimichi established the Special Operations Department, she had naturally joined it.
What disappointed Uzuki Yugao, however, was that she hadn't ended up on the same team as Douyang.
Uzuki Yugao glanced at the messy bedroom, which looked as though it had been ransacked, and the corners of her mouth twitched.
It's like this every time I come. Just my luck.
Knock, knock, knock!
Uzuki Yugao knocked hard on the glass.
Although he had worked away with his head down until dawn the night before and was already exhausted in both body and mind, Douyang still heard the noise immediately and snapped his eyes open.
More than ten years as a shinobi had instilled a habit of vigilance in him; even the slightest noise would wake him.
Yugao called from outside, "Uchiha Douyang, Lord Hokage has summoned you urgently. It's an emergency."
An urgent summons? An emergency?
His ten-day vacation wasn't even over yet. For Torifu Akimichi to summon him now, something clearly out of the ordinary had happened.
At that thought, Douyang abruptly sat up.
He didn't realize that the covers over his body had fallen away completely.
"Gulp."
Yugao glanced at Douyang and swallowed involuntarily. Her head went dizzy, and she fell from the second floor.
"Hey, Yugao, are you all right?"
Douyang slapped his forehead, ran to the window, and looked down.
Lying on the grass, Yugao shot Douyang a reproachful glare, then got up and hurried away.
"That girl."
Douyang chuckled, then frowned and muttered, "At this point in time, nothing major should be happening in Konoha. An emergency assembly? Could it be related to the Moryo Rebellion?"
During the Moryo Rebellion, Kirigakure had lost Juzo Biwa, Kumogakure had lost Toroi, and Iwagakure had lost Yan Luoya.
All Three Great Shinobi Villages had an excuse to make trouble for Konoha.
Of course, those were only the reasons on the surface.
The key issue was that the Third Hokage had stepped down, yet the Fifth Hokage still hadn't been chosen. Torifu Akimichi lacked sufficient deterrent power, so it was easy to understand why the other villages would take a bite at this moment.
When he reached the rooftop of the Hokage Building, Douyang found that besides twenty shinobi from the Special Operations Department, there was also a group of shinobi from the Jonin Commander.
At the sight, Douyang's expression darkened slightly.
Summoning so many shinobi at once meant the situation was more serious than he had thought.
"I hope it's only a localized conflict and won't turn into a full-scale war."
Douyang murmured to himself.
As a shinobi who had experienced the Third Shinobi World War and fought on battlefields in all four directions, Uchiha Douyang knew the brutality of war all too well and hated it more than anyone.
Burdened with worries, Douyang walked toward Team One of the Special Operations Department.
Kakashi, Shisui, and Guy were already there.
Shisui waved in greeting. "Douyang, you're late. What were you busy with?"
Douyang didn't explain that he had just climbed out of bed and rushed straight to the Hokage Building. Instead, he asked, "Why were so many people suddenly summoned?"
Kakashi and the others shook their heads.
Even they didn't know what had happened.
Kakashi muttered quietly, "It can only be Iwagakure, Kumogakure, or Kirigakure."
Shisui nodded slightly, agreeing with Kakashi's assessment.
Those three villages had suffered heavy losses on the trip to the Land of Demons, giving them the perfect excuse to seize the opportunity and make an issue of it.
Before long, Acting Hokage Torifu Akimichi, Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi, advisory elders Mitokado Homura and Utatane Koharu, Uchiha Fugaku, Hyuga Clan head Hyuga Hiashi, and the heads of the Ino-Shika-Cho Clans arrived on the rooftop one after another.
Torifu Akimichi looked at the assembled shinobi and said in a clear voice, "An hour ago, we received urgent intelligence from the border. Kirigakure has launched a surprise attack on the Land of Fire's eastern border."
At those words, the gathering suddenly erupted into an uproar.
The border conflict reminded countless shinobi of the Third Shinobi World War, which had ended only a few years earlier, and the thought sent chills down their spines.
Kakashi, Shisui, and Guy, however, wore strange expressions.
Of the three great villages-Kumogakure, Iwagakure, and Kirigakure-Iwagakure was the strongest, followed by Kumogakure. Kirigakure was undoubtedly the weakest.
They had thought Iwagakure or Kumogakure would be the first to make trouble for Konoha. Who could have expected it to be Kirigakure, the weakest of them?
Only Douyang knew full well that Obito had already infiltrated Kirigakure.
Obito must have been behind Kirigakure's surprise attack on the eastern border, directing it from the shadows.
