"A little chicken robot?"
Yang Yi smacked his lips, finding the name a little funny.
"It's Xiaoji!"
The barrel-shaped robot immediately responded with a correction.
Its audio sensors seemed intact, and rather sensitive. Its hearing was almost as good as Yang Yi's.
"No need. He isn't a test subject."
Su Na finally answered.
Her words carried far more weight than Yang Yi's, like higher-priority commands that the robot would obey.
But this robot clearly wasn't just a program. It would even make snide remarks about certain behavior.
"Doctor, Xiaoji recommends carrying your ID card with you. Otherwise, you may get locked up or even fined."
It rolled over to Su Na on the wheels beneath it, completely ignoring Yang Yi as it led the way for her.
Yang Yi didn't mind. He wasn't about to argue with artificial idiocy.
But he never lowered the flintlock in his hand, keeping it pointed toward Xiaoji Robot, whether deliberately or otherwise, and even walking ahead of Su Na.
He had put the Penitent Armor into his Ring.
The two entered the airtight security door one after the other, first undergoing disinfection in the airlock between the doors. The process was rather perfunctory, though, since nothing came out of the nozzles.
A few minutes later, they entered the Laboratory proper.
The conditions here were much worse than outside, presumably due to the darkness's encroachment.
Only when Yang Yi and Su Na entered did the light from the containers they carried truly dispel the darkness.
The Laboratory's lights were on, but they couldn't dispel the darkness.
As a result, the laboratory equipment inside-microscopes, analytical balances, centrifuges, and some instruments Yang Yi couldn't name-had all developed rust.
Once laboratory instruments like these corroded and rusted, losing their precision, their effectiveness would be greatly diminished. They might
