Background / History

Reincarnation and the Third Shinobi World War

Xuandou lived a previous life in which he knew the Naruto story. After being struck by a transport truck, he reincarnated as an Uchiha and eventually awakened his old memories. His foreknowledge allowed him to recognize Sunagakure’s preparations around Kikyo Mountain as a potentially decisive threat to Konoha 1 4.

During a reconnaissance mission with Kurenai Yuhi, Xuandou fought Sunagakure pursuers and rescued her after she was poisoned. He isolated their jōnin captain, killed him through Sharingan-assisted deception, and burned the body before treating Kurenai in a hidden cave. Konoha’s standard antidote proved ineffective against the Sand Desire Flower Poison 7 8.

Xuandou subsequently commanded Konoha’s campaign against Sunagakure, carried the war into the Land of Wind, and forced an unequal treaty. The other major villages then pursued peace, ending the Third Shinobi World War and earning him the title “Hero Who Ended the War.” The campaign produced 5.6 billion ryo in assets, half of which he distributed to the participating clans 17 21 22.

Clan Leadership and Departure from Konoha

After returning, Xuandou rejected Fugaku’s offer of the Military Police directorship and future support, declaring that he would contest the clan leadership himself. Elder Zongyan backed him, and Xuandou later confirmed that he had become Clan Head 22 28.

His leadership brought open conflict with Root and Danzō. Xuandou denied their authority to investigate him and later killed Danzō. The Uchiha eventually left Konoha through a Family Migration Card and established themselves in the Land of Hot Water, where Xuandou ruled Hidden Xuan Village 32 110 450.

During the Nine-Tails catastrophe, he arrived too late to save Minato but protected Kushina and sealed the beast’s chakra back into her. His later relationship with Kushina produced their son Hanyu 49 104 134.

Building Xuanyin

Xuandou repelled Kumogakure’s attempt to impose tribute and mission restrictions on his new village. He later consolidated the Land of Hot Water, replacing its officials with dependent allies and legally establishing Hidden Xuan Village as the country’s national military organization 110 111 151.

His expansion combined conquest, covert manipulation, and administrative integration. He secured Mei Terumi’s rule in Kirigakure, had Shisui turn the Raikage into an obedient subordinate, and staged intervention in the Land of the Moon before accepting its leadership. His takeover of the Land of Iron installed officials and ninja across its cities, towns, and villages 134 163 210 253.

After ascending the Land of Fire’s throne, Xuandou chose consolidation over an immediate final advance against the Land of Wind. Shortages of trained administrators constrained expansion, while he also intended to gather his enemies together before confronting the greater Ōtsutsuki threat 346 347.

The Ōtsutsuki and the Pure Land

Shion foresaw Xuandou dying against white-robed invaders as the Shinobi World collapsed. His response was to seek further evolution, cultivate the God Tree, and prepare to oppose the Ōtsutsuki rather than abandon the world 203 263 406.

Against Isshiki, Xuandou initially struggled to counter Sukunahikona’s concealment. Eida eventually broke through Isshiki’s shinjutsu protection, allowing Xuandou to trap him in genjutsu. Xuandou later absorbed Isshiki’s escaping soul with the Coiling Dragon Staff and prepared the God Tree Fruit for Eida’s evolution 399 400 402 406.

In the Pure Land, Xuandou confronted Danzō’s anti-Uchiha organization and fought manifestations of the Otherworld Shinigami. He later brought Hagoromo, Hamura, and Asura under the Uchiha banner. His next strategy was to use an Identity Card to enter the Ōtsutsuki Clan under a plausible identity 450 453 456 470 473.

Appearance

• Hair and eyes: Black hair and naturally black eyes; his Sharingan manifests as scarlet eyes 8 216.
• Build: Broad-backed and firmly muscled 257.
• Usual clothing: Often wears dark casual clothes, with the Erotic Gourd and Time-Stop Demon Blade at his waist 111 230.
• Later physical changes: Divine Marrow transforms his blood to gold and produces an aura that resonates with the world 467.
• Combat manifestations: Opening the Eight Gates reddens his skin and raises his temperature; the Eighth Gate surrounds him with blood-red vapor 160 456.

Personality

Xuandou is ambitious, confrontational, and unwilling to accept authority merely because of rank or tradition. He challenges Fugaku’s succession, rejects Danzō’s jurisdiction, and refuses Kaguya’s proposal to flee the Ōtsutsuki. His confidence is tempered by awareness that older Ōtsutsuki remain dangerous even after his bloodline becomes purer than theirs 22 32 289 406.

His methods are frequently ruthless. He orders retaliatory plunder, tortures a Sunagakure envoy, feeds prisoners to the God Tree, and engineers political dependence through staged warfare. His pursuit of women can also be coercive: he threatens Sara with force and makes the resurrection of Hikari’s parents conditional on her bearing his children 17 18 163 210 309 442.

With his family and loyal retainers, he can be affectionate and protective. He checks on pregnant partners, praises and disciplines his children, indulges his daughters, and respects Zongyan’s contributions. He nevertheless dislikes administrative work and hopes to leave government to Mitianxia so that he can travel with his family 238 314 331 411 443.

Despite relying heavily on overwhelming strength, Xuandou recognizes weaknesses when exposed. He uses difficult fights as training and avoids an enemy’s strongest attacks rather than insisting on a direct clash 161 224 457.
