Background / History

Wu Zhangkong was once a Shrek Academy prodigy and a disciple of Zhuo Shi, the Crimson Dragon Douluo. He and his junior sister Shen Yi trained under the same master. His potential was regarded as extraordinary; Heavenly Phoenix Douluo later stated that he could likely have become a Titled Douluo had heartbreak not cost him years of cultivation. 187 218

While at Shrek Academy, Wu Zhangkong fell in love with Long Bing, an Inner Court disciple who had been secretly placed in the academy by her father, Dark Hummingbird of the Holy Spirit Cult. Forced by her father's control to steal academy intelligence, Long Bing was exposed and expelled. Wu Zhangkong left Shrek Academy with her, feeling he had failed Zhuo Shi. 225

Dark Hummingbird later pursued the couple and attempted to recruit Wu Zhangkong as an Evil Soul Master. Wu Zhangkong refused; Long Bing shielded him from Dark Hummingbird's fatal attack and died in his place. Wu Zhangkong sealed her body in ice and buried her in Heaven Dou City before eventually becoming a teacher at Eastsea Academy. Her death left him with an enduring hatred of Evil Soul Masters and the Holy Spirit Cult. 225

At Eastsea Academy, he became the homeroom teacher of the poorly ranked Class Five, then personally developed its most promising students into Class Zero. His students' success, particularly Yao Xuan's potential, motivated him to consider reconciling with Shrek Academy and Zhuo Shi. 57 70 218 238

After Yao Xuan became Lord of the World, he resurrected Long Bing from her preserved body and remnant soul. Wu Zhangkong and Long Bing traveled together, married at the Great Yao Royal Soul Master Academy, and became teachers there.
