Was Shimura Danzō really that harsh on Root's ninja?
Naruto Uzumaki was not very familiar with Danzo, much less Root.
Sasuke Uchiha was different, however. He knew a little about both Danzo and Root.
Back when he had still served under Obito Uchiha, he had already learned that Danzo had played a major role in the Uchiha Clan's destruction.
It would not even be an exaggeration to call Danzo the instigator.
Naturally, someone like that was Sasuke's enemy.
If he could, Sasuke would have liked nothing more than to kill Danzo himself.
Unfortunately, long before he could act, Danzo had died at the hands of the current Hokage, Shihōin Naraku.
As for Root, it had been disbanded outright following Danzo's death, and its ninja had subsequently joined the ANBU.
Now, looking at the Root ninja's remains before him and the mark behind the ear, Sasuke asked, "This information... how many people know about it?"
"Not many."
Inoichi straightened up. "I only happened to learn about it because I handled matters related to Root's dissolution back then."
"Even among the village's higher-ups, not everyone knows this secret, let alone people from other villages."
Beside them, Naruto frowned and could not help asking, "But how did someone from Root... end up in Ōtsutsuki Isshiki's hands? Wasn't Root disbanded?"
"Yes. After Root was disbanded, everyone joined the ANBU," Inoichi Yamanaka added.
But that only confused Naruto more.
After all, the Konoha Anbu were also managed very strictly.
"The timing! Pay attention to the timing, Naruto," Sasuke reminded him.
The remains before them had very likely been buried here five years ago, or even earlier, when Root was still under Danzo's control.
Sasuke's reminder made Naruto understand.
Beside them, Inoichi stared thoughtfully at the remains at his feet.
He knew more about Root
