Kakashi Hatake had a bellyful of questions, but for the moment, he did not know where to begin.
Tsunade urged Naraku on with her eyes, signaling for him to hurry up and explain exactly what had happened. How had sending him out on a single mission led to this?
He had stirred up so much trouble!
"Let me think. Where should I start?"
Naraku rubbed his chin, then his eyes suddenly lit up. "Right, let's start with the mission the Third Hokage sent me on back then. That was my first encounter with Obito, but even after the fight ended and I nearly killed him, I still didn't know who he was."
"The Third Hokage?"
"Nearly killed him?"
Tsunade and Kakashi had focused on completely different points.
What puzzled Tsunade was that the Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi was involved in this too.
As for Kakashi, his concern was the crucial matter of Naraku nearly killing his best friend.
"Oh, because Wood Release appeared back then, I even made a special report to the Third Hokage. Danzo ended up taking the blame. We all thought he was pulling something behind the scenes, but it looks like we wronged him."
How was Wood Release involved too?!
Looking utterly puzzled, Tsunade slapped the table. "Give me the details! Don't leave out the important parts!"
"All right, all right!"
Helplessly, Naraku started from the beginning and recounted every detail of Obito's sudden attack while he was out on his mission.
"That's more or less what happened. Obito wasn't dead at the time, but his injuries were so severe that I thought he was certain to die. Who knew I'd run into him again on this trip to the Land of Water?"
