On a low hill outside the city, Loa lay in the grass, his gaze piercing the night to settle on the Manor several hundred meters away.
With his eyesight, he could see the entire layout of the Manor. An arrow tower stood at each corner of the walls, with guards stationed atop them. Inside the main gate was an open clearing facing a small two-story building, flanked on either side by several single-story buildings that looked like warehouses or living quarters. A storeroom built of blue stone stood in a corner of the Manor.
Loa did not rush to act. He used Soul Transmission.
"Wuzhui, come here."
A moment later, a dark shadow swept over from the distance and landed silently beside him. Wuzhui's wings gleamed darkly in the moonlight, and Wuzhui's dark golden eyes were as calm as still water. Wuzhui had already recovered and was now in peak condition.
Wangcai jumped off Wuzhui's back and rubbed against Loa's leg.
Humans shared a soul connection with the magical beasts they had tamed. The stronger the Spiritual Force of the master and beast, the greater the range of their Soul Transmission. Loa and Wangcai could communicate clearly within several hundred miles. The same was true of Wuzhui-any farther, and they could only sense each other's general direction, but that was enough for now.
"You two stay here." Loa looked at Wangcai and Wuzhui. "Only act when I tell you through Soul Transmission. Remember, wait for my signal."
Wangcai nodded, keeping quiet for once. Wuzhui gave a low cry of acknowledgment.
Loa stood, blurred, and vanished from the spot.
The night was deep, sometime after ten.
The Manor's patrols changed shifts every two hours, and Loa had worked out their routine. This was the gap between shifts-the previous patrol had
