Background / History

Origins and Meeting Loa

Wuzhui was born a mutated Unicorn and expelled from his herd at birth. He grew up without a name. Loa and Wangcai discovered him badly wounded in the Magical Beast Mountain Range after following a trail of blood. Loa saved him, entered a Master-Servant Contract with him, and named him Wuzhui 175.

Loa stayed in a secluded valley while Wuzhui’s broken wings healed. After half a month, Wuzhui could run but could not yet fly. He subsequently carried Loa back to Fenlai City, where he and Wangcai were sent to help the distraught Linley return to the Ernst Institute 176.

Bob’s Rescue and Halackwit’s Pursuit

Although still recovering, Wuzhui carried Loa and Wangcai through a snowstorm to search for the missing Bob. The journey left his legs trembling with exhaustion when they reached the Blackscale Kingdom 180 181.

During the rescue, Wuzhui and Wangcai attacked the captors’ manor to distract its guards. Once Loa freed Bob and the children, he ordered Wuzhui to carry them north while he and Wangcai held off their pursuers 182.

The Four-winged Fallen Angel Halackwit intercepted the escape. With only Bob and Mia remaining on his back, Wuzhui burned his blood essence and then his Magic Crystal Core to keep ahead of him. He knew this could cost his life or permanently damage his strength, but refused to abandon the people Loa had entrusted to him. Halackwit pierced his left wing before Loa arrived and stopped the life-consuming process 183 184.

Wuzhui nevertheless mustered enough strength to carry the exhausted Loa and Wangcai away after the battle. He recovered under Loa’s care in the Magical Beast Mountain Range and later in Oster. By their departure for the Far East Prairie, his wings had fully healed, though the damage to his cultivation potential persisted 185 186 187 189 192 220.

Travels and Evacuations

Wuzhui accompanied Loa and Wangcai across the Far East Prairie and witnessed Loa’s breakthrough to Saint. At the Warrior Saint Gate, he sought Loa out on a mountain summit and lay beside him while they watched the stars 193 197 199.

When Loa returned to Fenlai and rescued the gravely injured Linley, Wuzhui evacuated Linley, Bebe, and Wangcai to Wushan Town. He later accompanied an advance party to the land secured for New Wushan Town 203 207.

Wuzhui also transported the unconscious Olivier back to New Wushan Town after the confrontation with the two churches 218.

Conquest of the Chaotic Territory

After reaching Saint, Wuzhui led human warriors through the eastern Chaotic Territory, with Wangcai serving as his deputy. His size, flames, speech, and Saint-level presence intimidated the local rulers 220.

At the final city, Wuzhui enlarged himself to more than three times his usual size and hovered above the walls. The defenders surrendered after he demanded that they open the gates, completing the conquest that preceded the establishment of the Xunzhen Republic Empire 221.

Guardian of the Republic

Before leaving for a higher plane, Loa entrusted Wuzhui with protecting the empire and instructed him to refine a Lowgod Death Divine Spark. Loa also dissolved their Master-Servant Contract before his departure, granting Wuzhui his freedom 289 348.

When Loa returned, Wuzhui had become a Lowgod. After learning that Wangcai lay unconscious under a Death Curse, he immediately volunteered to care for him 348.

Wuzhui later detected Selena’s Highgod aura while monitoring the empire with Divine Sense. He alerted Loa and, once assured that she was a friend, went to receive her 351.

Following Odin’s defeat, Wuzhui took Odin and Chester to the death row camp. He offered condemned prisoners freedom and restored citizenship if they could break the captives through humiliation and torment, and had their treatment recorded 357.

Appearance

  • Original beast form: A slender, athletic black horse measuring approximately four meters from head to tail and nearly two and a half meters at the shoulder, with a jet-black forehead horn and large feathered wings 175.
  • Coat: Entirely black, without stray-colored hairs. Moonlight appears to disappear into it, and falling snow slides off rather than clinging 175 176.
  • Eyes: Dark golden 175.
  • Saint form: Larger than before, with glossy black feathers edged in dark-red light. During the conquest, dark-red flames covered his body and his wingbeats produced hot gusts 220.
  • Human form: Appears after becoming a Lowgod as a burly, black-haired man in black robes; the reunion scene also emphasizes his dark-golden eyes 348.

Personality

Wuzhui is quiet, composed, and sparing with words. He generally responds through brief statements or actions rather than prolonged conversation. He dislikes crowds and, while living near New Wushan Town, often left alone to hunt in the Magical Beast Mountain Range 182 208 211 348.

His loyalty to Loa rests on gratitude and a sense of belonging. He remembers being rescued, named, healed, and treated as family. During Halackwit’s pursuit, he willingly risked his life and future cultivation to protect Loa’s family 183.

His affection is usually understated: nuzzling Loa, seeking him out without being called, or quietly remaining beside him. That same attachment draws him immediately to Wangcai’s bedside when his longtime companion is incapacitated 175 199 289 348.

Despite his reserved manner, Wuzhui is capable of calculated cruelty toward enemies, as demonstrated by his arrangements for Odin and Chester’s punishment 357.

Abilities & Skills

Flight and Speed

Wuzhui combines rapid ground movement with agile flight.

  • While still injured, he could run more than twice as fast as Wangcai could at that time, moving silently through the woods 176.
  • During the manor raid, he evaded a projected Battle-qi blade and thrown halberds in midair 182.
  • Loa judged that his speed, vigilance, and shadow concealment would make him difficult for an ordinary Saint to catch 176.
  • Before becoming Saint, his long-distance flight could not keep pace with Saint experts; he and Wangcai failed to arrive in time for Loa’s spar with Fain 211.

Shadow Concealment

An innate ability allows Wuzhui to hide himself in shadows.

  • His wings can dissolve into black mist and disappear, then reform at will 176.
  • This is a supernatural concealment ability rather than ordinary wing-folding 176.

Darkflame Stomp and Saint Flames

Wuzhui uses flame-based attacks in combat.

  • Darkflame Stomp: Descends through the air with eerie blue flames surrounding his hooves 182.
  • Saint-level flames: After his breakthrough, manifests dark-red flames over his body and is described as fire-breathing 220.
  • Heated wingbeats: His wings generate gusts of hot wind 220.

Regeneration

Dark Nightmare Pegasi recover faster than ordinary magical beasts.

  • Wuzhui’s recovery is explicitly compared favorably with that of ordinary ninth-level magical beasts 176.
  • Loa’s secret medicines, bone-strengthening medicine, and high-grade potion aided his wing recovery 180 187 192.
  • Regeneration did not undo the lasting damage caused by burning his blood essence and Magic Crystal Core 220.

Life-Consuming Acceleration

Wuzhui can sacrifice his own reserves to exceed his normal speed.

  • Burning blood essence increased his speed by another thirty percent during Halackwit’s pursuit 183.
  • Burning his Magic Crystal Core further exhausted his life force and risked a permanent loss of strength 183.
  • Loa stopped the process by severing the energy pathways sustaining the burning 184.

Saint and Deity Capabilities

  • Human speech: Gains the ability to speak aloud in human language after becoming Saint 220 226.
  • Size enlargement: Expands to more than three times his usual size during the final siege of the Chaotic Territory 221.
  • Divine Sense: As a Lowgod, patrols the empire remotely and detects Selena’s arrival and unconcealed Highgod aura 351.

Items

  • Lowgod Death Divine Spark — Obtained by Loa from Beirut through an exchange and given to Wuzhui; its refinement enabled his Lowgod breakthrough 289 348.
  • Intermediate Death Law Divine Spark — Part of Loa’s provision for Wuzhui’s eventual advancement to Middle God; successful refinement is not documented 289.

Relationships

  • Loa — Rescuer, namer, former contracted master, and family figure. After freeing Wuzhui, Loa asked him to call him “Big Brother” instead of “Master” 175 183 348.
  • Wangcai — Longtime companion and fellow rescuer. Initially designated Wuzhui’s “big brother” by Loa; later served as Wuzhui’s deputy during the conquest. Wuzhui volunteered to nurse him during his cursed sleep 175 220 348.
  • Bob and Mia — Members of Loa’s family whom Wuzhui risked his life to protect from Halackwit 182 183.
  • Linley — Loa’s friend, whom Wuzhui helped transport after his breakup and later evacuated from Fenlai. Wuzhui subsequently visited him on Loa’s behalf 176 203 226.
  • Halackwit — Enemy who pursued Wuzhui during the rescue and grievously injured his wing 183 184.

Trivia

  • Loa chose the name Wuzhui after recalling a name from his previous life; Wuzhui had previously been nameless 175.
  • Wangcai arranged for statues of himself, Wuzhui, and Bebe to be erected in Republic Square with Victor’s help. Citizens recognized Wuzhui’s statue as the Head of State’s mount 237.
