"Third Sister, do you think..."
The girl in fiery red robes heard him and turned toward the young man beside her, frowning involuntarily.
"Shut up. Why ask me? Who am I supposed to ask? Why don't you ask Eldest Brother directly? Can't you be quiet for a while? Say another word, and I'll have roast turtle with Eldest Brother tonight."
Seeing the aggrieved look on the young man's face, the girl he called Third Sister had to offer another explanation. "Neither Eldest Brother nor Second Brother can see through those two's auras. That means they're definitely stronger than us. We don't know what might happen if they discover us, so Eldest Brother arranged for us to watch them from inside the mountain."
"Shut up. If I tell you not to talk, you're not allowed to talk unless Eldest Brother or Second Brother comes."
"Hmph~~ Hmph." (╥╯^╰╥)
"Say, Boss, what exactly do you want with these Four Divine Beasts you're looking for?" Pash finally asked, unable to hold back any longer. After all, they had been wandering around here for over ten years. It was only because this was Rhodes; had it been anyone else, he would have gone up and slashed them a couple of times.
What Rhodes and Pash did not know was that the four Lowgods lurking in the shadows also pricked up their ears the moment Pash asked that question.
"Nothing much, really. I just want to meet them. As for what I'll do after meeting them, I honestly haven't thought about it. Most importantly, I've never thought of killing them, nor do I have any other intentions. At most, I'll ask them for a little blood."
The instant Pash's words fell, the four little ones in hiding all breathed a sigh of relief. Although the visitors did not intend to kill them, the four still had no intention of showing themselves. Hadn't they heard that they wanted some blood, too? They weren't stupid. Wouldn't it be better to come out after these two left?
As the wine in his hands gradually dwindled, Rhodes put away his melancholy as well. Perhaps "Heaven" really would not give him a chance to meet the Four Divine Beasts. In truth, Rhodes had no intention of changing their fate. As for whether something he did after meeting them might affect the four and cause the future Hongmeng Controller to disappear, that would be Rhodes's doing. What would it have to do with him, the "Wind-Thunder Divine Roc"?
Draining the last mouthful of wine, Rhodes tossed the wine jar down the mountain. It passed through the clouds and vanished.
He turned toward Pash. "Let's go. No more wasting time!"
He then summoned the metallic lifeform. The four little ones hiding in the heart of the mountain finally relaxed. As for their ability to sense and hear what was happening outside while inside the mountains, they had this towering peak that had nurtured all four of them to thank.
There was also the Heaven and Earth Wonder that had been right in Black Tortoise's claws when he was born. Although Black Tortoise had been the last to emerge, he was no weaker than Azure Dragon and White Tiger, precisely because of the thing in his hands. While it had little power, it could let someone merge into these mountains and slightly increase the speed at which they comprehended the Laws of the Earth.
It had made Azure Dragon and the others green with envy. After all, they had nothing.
Just as he was about to leave, Rhodes stopped again, and the Four Divine Beasts' hearts leaped into their throats once more.
Since the Four Divine Beasts aren't here, I'll leave "Rhodes was here" in the Skyrite Mountains. Haha, I've been here so long that I've forgotten my hobby from my previous life: checking in and leaving an inscription as a memento.
He swept out his divine sense, looking for a suitable place to carve the words. He directly augmented his soul power with Willpower and swept it over the mountain beneath him. Otherwise, a Midgod's soul and divine sense alone could not cover it all in one sweep.
"Huh? Haha, this really is... interesting, interesting!" As his divine sense covered the entire mountain, Rhodes discovered something very interesting: there were four Lowgods inside it.
Having swept his soul power over the entire mountain range, Rhodes had not discovered any entrance into the peak.
Besides, it was not as though all four were Deities who cultivated the Laws of the Earth. Otherwise, they could all have used the Earth Travel Technique's Profound Mysteries to get inside. Yet one cultivated the Water Element, one the Wind Element, one the Fire Element, and one the Earth Element.
Weren't these the Four Divine Beasts? Haha, he had only wanted to find a good spot to carve some words before leaving, yet he had unexpectedly discovered the four of them.
He immediately sent Pash a mental message. "Pash, I've found the Four Divine Beasts. They've been watching us from nearby all along! Play along with me in a moment."
"All right."
"Pash, what do you think I should carve here? After all, I can't come all this way without leaving some kind of memento."
"I think leaving an inscription is too ordinary. Rhodes, why don't we just cut off this tallest peak? How about it? Turn the tallest into the shortest."
The four inside the mountain panicked when they heard Pash suggest cutting off the tallest peak. This was where all four of them had been born. How could they let someone cut down their home?
The only female among the four, Vermilion Bird, spoke up directly. "That man with the red robes and red hair is so nasty! If we catch him someday-someday, we have to beat him until his head is covered in lumps."
Azure Dragon, White Tiger, and the others exchanged looks, feeling utterly helpless. After all, they could not see through either of these two. If they recklessly went out now, they did not even know whether their lives would end up in danger!
But simply watching someone else destroy their home was no solution, either. Most importantly, the four of them were inside the peak. Once it fell, they would inevitably be exposed.
Going out would expose them. Staying inside would still expose them once these two made their move!
Just as the four were caught in this dilemma, they heard the man with long, fiery red hair speak again. "We have to destroy the entire peak. Whenever I think about how we've spent over ten years here looking for the Four Divine Beasts without seeing so much as a hair, I get angry. The Infernal Realm's mountains are incredibly hard to destroy, but that's fine. I'll wear it down slowly right here. I'm going to destroy this tallest one no matter what."
Pash pretended to be furious, and the divine power around him began to fluctuate as he gestured, deciding where to start cutting through the peak.
"Let's go out!"
"Eldest Brother, what are you saying? Those two are extremely dangerous!" a youth with long white hair said agitatedly to the young man at their head.
"The Deity who first mentioned carving an inscription has already discovered us. Look, he's been staring right at our position!" With that, Azure Dragon pulled his younger brothers and sister along and began moving. Sure enough, just as Azure Dragon had said, wherever they moved, Rhodes turned in that direction.
"Ah!"
The three could not help sighing in unison. Even White Tiger, the most combative of them, fell silent. The aura of the young man with long blood-red hair alone was unfathomable; there was no chance of putting up a fight at all. Otherwise, he would not have hidden inside the mountains with the others, secretly hoping the two would leave.
"Let's go out. If those two want to kill us, we four siblings aren't so easy to deal with, either. Even if we die, we have to inflict some damage on them."
After speaking, Azure Dragon looked at Black Tortoise, signaling for him to activate the Heaven and Earth Wonder and take the four of them out.
Under the wonder's effects, the mountain seemed to turn into water and began to ripple. Before long, the four had appeared outside the peak.
After leaving the mountain, the four could feel the terrifying auras emanating from Pash and Rhodes even more clearly.
Pash was even more direct. His God's Domain descended over them, leaving the four unable to move at all. Before coming out, they had still intended to hurt these two even at the cost of their lives, but now they fell straight into despair. Unable even to move, what could they do? They could not even use their Innate Divine Abilities.
"That's enough, Pash. Stop fooling around. Can't you see there's nothing but despair left in these four little fellows' eyes?"
Hearing Rhodes's voice, Pash immediately withdrew his God's Domain. The four Lowgods collapsed flat on the ground. After all, the feeling of being on the brink of death just now had truly been awful.
To the four of them just now, Rhodes's words had been the sweetest sound in the world. Deep in their hearts, they could not help filling with gratitude toward him.
As for Pash, how did these four feel about him? It would be no exaggeration to say that they wanted to flay this red-haired man and tear out his tendons right then and there.
Vermilion Bird even felt that her own beautiful red hair was becoming a little unpleasant to look at. After all, Pash also had long red hair.
