"Was this something a Midgod could do?" Leaving Aksu's question aside.

The Heavenly Tribulation that had been scattered gathered once more, but this time, it gave them no chance to scatter it again. In a flash, it engulfed every Midgod. As for the Highgods who could move quickly, the more confident ones took the lightning head-on, and almost all who did were gone. Even setting aside the lightning's physical attacks, the soul attacks within it were not something ordinary people could withstand.

Even Pash, caught unprepared, had been stunned by a single strike, let alone these deities who relied solely on physical defense to endure the Heavenly Tribulation's baptism.

After one wave of Heavenly Tribulation, the Midgods were wiped out to the last one. Among the Highgods, only Aksu was still in relatively good shape. The others were in a sorry state, though they had managed to withstand it.

After all, several of those who took it head-on had passed along some information before dying. With the others prepared, Rhodes could not kill them directly with ordinary attacks. But once he advanced to Highgod and his divine power became ten times as powerful, ordinary Highgods would all die.

When Aksu saw that fewer than five Highgods remained, cold sweat poured down his body.

I was careless. This bastard is on the same level as the Demon King and the Light King! Aksu was utterly panicked. When Pash had told him earlier to contact the powerhouse backing him, Aksu had not taken it seriously, thinking Pash was talking nonsense.

He had never expected to be proven wrong so soon. By now, Aksu had already used his divine clone to notify Atezi, the Light King in the Celestial Realm.

"Useless trash! I held off the Demon King for you, yet you still haven't taken a single continent in the Infernal Realm, and you have the nerve to beg me to save you? I really want to kill you!"

A handsome young man with long golden hair and a plain white robe looked at Aksu's Water Element Lowgod divine clone, kneeling beneath his throne.

"Hmph. I'll save you one more time. If you weren't still of some use... If there's a next time, you're on your own. I have no place for trash like you."

As his words fell, a figure flashing with white light streaked across the sky toward the Teleportation Array.

"Aksu, have you notified the person backing you? If you haven't, you can die. If you have, I'll give you a chance to live. I'll let you out to fight Pash. Win, and I'll let you go."

Just after Aksu finished notifying the Light King in the Celestial Realm, Rhodes's voice reached him.

Aksu's expression grew even uglier. Even knowing that Lord Light King was already on his way, he worried that he would be killed before he arrived.

What he had not expected was that the man who had slaughtered all his Midgod subordinates would actually offer him a chance.

Perhaps I really can survive. Hope could not help flaring in Aksu's heart again.

"All right, I'm willing to fight Pash. Let me out!"

"Lord Aksu, you can't abandon us!" The other Highgods trapped in Rhodes's domain grew frantic. Aksu might have a chance to survive if he got out, but if they could not leave, they would die.

They were all bound by oaths. Otherwise, they could simply have surrendered to Rhodes. Now, they wished Aksu would die immediately so that they could surrender and live.

Rhodes actually wanted to spare them too. After all, anyone who could withstand his soul attack was no weakling. The weak had all been eliminated in the first round.

Keeping a few Highgods around to perform services would be useful. He could not have his own people handle every task, big or small.

As for Lowgods and Midgods, Rhodes considered them utterly useless. Whether to take them in could wait until later! For now, he wanted only Highgods, only elites, and would accept no one else. He preferred quality over quantity.

"All right. Aksu, don't resist. I'll pull you out. Don't think about running. I'll give you a fair chance to face Pash."

"Yes, my lord." Having recognized Rhodes's strength, Aksu was now exceedingly deferential.

After all, the man before him was one of the universe's supreme powerhouses. Bowing his head was no humiliation. Staying alive mattered most.

"Aksu, we've known each other for a long time. Before, you had numbers on your side, so I couldn't kill you. Today, I will kill you. And you still dream of surviving? Pah!" Pash said, looking at Aksu coldly.

After all, Aksu had relied on superior numbers to drive him off several times. Although his opponent's victories had been unfair, Pash had indeed been left in a sorry state. This time, in a one-on-one fight, Pash was determined to cut him down.

As for the person backing Aksu, Rhodes would deal with him. Pash had no need to worry.

As the two took their positions, the atmosphere grew increasingly tense. Battle was about to erupt.

Whoosh!

Bang!

Saber met longsword with a tremendous crash.

Both moved with incredible speed. Although Aksu had performed poorly against Rhodes, he was still a powerhouse, at the peak of the Six-Star Demon level. Otherwise, why would the Light King go back and forth for an ordinary subordinate?

What was more, this battle would decide his fate. Victory meant survival; defeat meant death. Although he still had a divine clone, could a Lowgod divine clone compare to one that commanded an entire continent?

Thus, Aksu put his full strength into every strike, each one immensely powerful. Pash, by contrast, was driven back again and again for a time. But Pash was not someone skilled at defense. After blocking the first three moves, he stopped defending and swung his saber in an all-out assault.

Blood-colored armor had already covered his divine body, and his innate divine ability formed a devouring domain around him to guard against anything unexpected.

Unleashing his full strength, Pash relied on his Devouring Innate Divine Ability to take a sword strike from Aksu head-on. After being weakened, Aksu's full-powered strike failed even to completely breach Pash's protective armor.

But Pash's own full-powered saber strike sent Aksu thousands of meters into the ground, leaving a deep, dark hole.

In the sky, Pash's aura grew increasingly powerful. Rhodes sensed his strength rising and reckoned that his comprehension of the destruction rule was accelerating. Those who cultivated the destruction rule truly were suited to battle!

A streak of light flashed past. Aksu had transformed into his true divine beast form and appeared before Pash. Rhodes narrowed his eyes slightly. Aksu was preparing to stake his life on this.

The fighting spirit in Pash's eyes intensified. Divine light formed from destruction divine power kept bursting around him as he prepared to withstand Aksu's final attack.

Formless white light flashed around Aksu.

"Light-Speed Slash!" His entire divine beast body became a streak of light that slashed toward Pash.

"Endless Devouring!" An enormous blood-colored python towering into the heavens manifested behind Pash. Opening its bloody maw, it swallowed toward the ray of light Aksu had become.

After it swallowed Aksu in one gulp, silence fell over heaven and earth.

The Four Divine Beasts standing beside Rhodes stared in astonishment and asked him, "Big Brother, did that Highgod Aksu just die?"

"More or less. If he isn't dead yet, he will be soon. Anyone your second brother swallows simply can't survive. They might hold out for a while, but they'll still die afterward."

Pash was not having an easy time in the air either. After all, Aksu was a powerhouse on his own level. How could he be so easy to devour? But since he had delivered himself right into Pash's mouth, that was another matter.

Poor Aksu. If he hadn't charged into Pash's innate divine ability himself, he probably wouldn't have died so quickly. It looks like he won't live long enough for the person backing him to save him, Rhodes thought.

He really was like a moth flying into a flame, delivering himself right to the door and letting Pash enjoy a perfect buffet.
