"Not truly taken away?"
Korra froze for a moment, then said in delighted surprise:
"So that means people whose bending Amon took away could still recover it?"
"In theory, yes."
Hearing Kahn's affirmative reply, Korra inexplicably felt relieved.
Amon's declaration last night had cast quite a shadow over her. She had even had a nightmare in her sleep last night about being caught by Amon and having her bending taken away.
But now that she knew Amon could not truly take away people's bending, some of the shadow in her heart finally dissipated.
Mako, standing nearby, could not help asking:
"But may I ask how you could tell he hadn't truly lost his bending?"
Kahn repeated what he had said last night:
"I'm a Spiritbender. In a Spiritbender's eyes, there's a huge difference between a Bending Master and an ordinary person."
"If Zolt's bending had been completely taken away, he should have become an ordinary person in my eyes. But that isn't what happened. His bending power is still inside him, unchanged."
"As I see it, calling it sealing would be more accurate than calling it removal."
Mako, however, only half understood what he heard, because the term Spiritbender was unfamiliar to him.
But seeing that the others, including Korra, had no questions, he could only commit the term to memory and plan to learn about it later.
Then Kahn shifted the subject:
"Still, identifying the problem is one thing. Solving it is another."
"To restore sealed bending, I'm afraid we'll first have to figure out how Amon seals it."
According to Amon himself, he had received enlightenment from a Deity, who had granted him the power to take away bending.
But Kahn suspected he had made that up too.
There were two reasons.
First, the experience he described could
