At the command, the ships hidden among the clouds in the sky revealed themselves.
More than ten thousand human warriors leaped down from the sky, their morale soaring like a rainbow as they charged straight ahead.
For they knew that this time, they would either live or die. For the family and friends behind them, what did death matter!
At this stage of Doomsday, not a single awakened warrior was weak.
The weak had either already died in the Apocalypse or were still newborn children.
Ania was among the warriors, taking orders from the war commander and heading to her assigned position to hold off the monsters.
She gazed at Jiang Yang as he plunged from the sky like a brilliant streak of blazing light, striking straight at Nidhogg, and silently prayed.
Senior, you mustn't die.
The super beast Nidhogg was an existence far beyond an Alpha-class Giant Beast.
At the center of the battlefield, Zeus unleashed lightning that filled the sky. Thunderclouds shrouded the entire sky, and bolts of lightning struck Nidhogg again and again, stoking its fury.
Odin held a golden spear and turned into a streak of golden light, circling the super beast's thousand-meter-long body as he slashed and thrust at tremendous speed.
Meanwhile, Mar circled around to the super beast's rear and relied on his immense strength to keep pulling at its tail.
As for Jiang Yang, a suit of flame armor enveloped his body, and he held a flaming longsword as he fought the super beast head-on.
His extraordinary combat awareness and overwhelmingly powerful attacks made him the one who met its attacks head-on in the battle.
The thousand-meter-long Nidhogg whipped up towering waves of ice and snow, shaking the earth and mountains as it controlled endless raging winds to attack and kill all the human warriors.
Countless monsters under its control surged toward it without regard for their lives, while the human warriors desperately blocked them, suffering devastating casualties.
Facing the raging wind, Jiang Yang found a moment to unleash a sea of fire, sending it along the wind to burn away a large group of monsters that had broken through.
Nidhogg was practically impervious to water and fire, and possessed extraordinary vitality as well. Even though their successive bombardments inflicted considerable damage, its formidable self-healing ability restored it.
"What astonishing vitality. Odin, when are we going to activate Gungnir?"
In the sky, Zeus spoke, looking battered after barely dodging a fiery blast from one of the serpent heads.
Odin spoke with a grim expression.
"Nidhogg is extremely intelligent. It seems to know that something can threaten its life, and keeps taking turns with its three heads to guard its vital spot. The spatial ability user can't break through at all."
By the serpent's tail, Mar spoke with difficulty after just dodging a tail strike powerful enough to shatter mountains and rivers.
"Then what do we do? Hurry and think of something."
"Let's do this... give it a try!"
"All right!"
Jiang Yang nodded and found another opening to leap onto a serpent head's horn. His essence, energy, and spirit grew intensely focused, and his flaming longsword instantly extended a hundred meters, cleaving into the serpent's head. A long wound opened, blood immediately pouring out as the super beast howled in pain.
"It's too tough! Odin, hurry!"
"All right!"
A streak of golden light shot over, and Odin rapidly thrust his spear at the six serpent eyes.
The super beast recoiled in pain again, its three heads rearing high.
"Now's our chance! Hurry!"
A spatial ripple flashed past, and an awakened warrior holding a spear suddenly appeared at the super beast's reverse scale, about to fire Gungnir.
But the super beast's neck suddenly split open, and a small, delicate monster abruptly appeared, swiping a claw at the spatial awakened warrior.
With a bang, the awakened warrior holding Gungnir was sent flying and collapsed unconscious on the ground, his fate unknown.
Across the battlefield, everyone fell silent, and an air of despair began to settle over them.
"Is Human Civilization truly going to perish?"
"Will this land fall into the monsters' usurping grasp?"
"We're finished."
The human side's morale visibly sank.
Just then, in midair, a female warrior radiating dazzling light suddenly raised Gungnir high, having picked it up from somewhere unknown.
Brilliant, searing white light began to shine from her body. Her beauty was peerless, her figure like an immortal's, as though the Goddess of Light had descended into the Mortal Realm!
It was Ania, bathed in blood, her small face smeared with gore.
"Gungnir is still here, and so are we! How could humanity lose? Until the very last moment, I will never admit defeat, even if I fight to the death!"
"That's right! Until our blood runs dry, death alone will end our fight! Are we not even as good as a girl?"
"That's Ania, the one known as the angel awakened!"
"Humanity will not yield! Keep fighting!"
The battle song rang out once more.
In midair, Jiang Yang wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and gazed lovingly at Ania as she rallied everyone's spirits on the battlefield, saying with a soft laugh.
"That's Ania for you."
Suddenly, his expression changed drastically. "Oh no."
Ignoring the enormous wind blade spat out by the serpent head before him, he widened his eyes and shouted.
"Ania, dodge!"
But Ania was utterly exhausted by then and had no time to evade!
A green wave of light came crashing brutally toward Ania, piercing her chest in an instant.
It was a wave of light spat from the mouth of an enormous Alpha-class turtle-shaped Giant Beast, the very one Yisha was fighting.
Before countless eyes, Ania, who had shone like the Goddess of Light, became like an angel with broken wings, plummeting straight down.
As she fell from the sky, Ania used every last bit of strength remaining in her body to hurl Gungnir toward Jiang Yang!
"Ah, you bastard!"
"Damned monster!"
The human warriors, whose morale had already been roused, all saw red, a shared hatred for their enemy surging forth.
In midair, Jiang Yang swiftly caught Gungnir and cried out in grief.
"Ania!"
Boundless pain became towering flames, and amid his endless sorrow, his strength seemed to shatter through a thin membrane.
The golden flames that blazed up once more seemed ready to set even the eternally unchanging icefield alight.
He shouted, "Odin!"
Their old rapport allowed Odin to understand his action, and he nodded silently.
At once, his eyes seemed to ignite into two suns. He stepped up through the air, all his essence, energy, and spirit merging into one. Carrying Gungnir and enveloped in endless golden flames, he became like a blazing sun high in the sky and plunged into Nidhogg's mouth!
Since a monster could survive inside its neck, he could go inside and kill Nidhogg too!
On the icefield not far away.
Having fallen to the ground, Ania kept spilling blood from her mouth. She struggled to lift her head and look at her lover's resolute figure, revealing a poignantly beautiful smile. Her lips moved as though she wanted to express something, but in the end, no words came out.
The remaining people were shaken to their cores. The King of Fire's resolve ignited their fighting spirit!
"Kill!"
"Fight to the death!"
Soon, a sudden bang sounded from inside Nidhogg, and its entire body exploded.
Some of the flying flesh and blood sank into the ice, while some scattered into the depths of the sea!
On the icefield.
"Did we... win?"
"We won! Humanity won!"
"We survived!"
"But what about Jiang Yang? There's no trace of him anywhere on the Antarctic Icefield..."
"We've found all the wounded, but Jiang Yang still isn't here."
"Jiang Yang?! Are you really dead?"
"Jiang Yang, where are you? We found Ania. Isa has sealed her in ice. Perhaps we can revive her in the future, but what about you? Where are you?"
