Background / History

Upbringing

Ning Rongrong is Ning Fengzhi’s only daughter. Her father rarely reprimanded her, while Sword Douluo Chen Xin and Bone Douluo Gu Rong indulged her and intervened whenever she suffered a grievance. She grew up believing that the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect’s wealth and its two Titled Douluo could resolve almost any conflict 5 7 13.

Her cultivation received extensive support: Ning Fengzhi supplied medicines, Chen Xin and Gu Rong personally guided her, and she carried valuable defensive tools and cultivation treasures. As a child, she promised her father that she would become the continent’s strongest support Soul Master 8 24 37.

Hair Ornament Dispute

In Heaven Dou City, Rongrong attempted to buy a Six-Winged Angel hair ornament that Qian Renxue had already selected. She offered twenty Gold Soul Coins against its original price of ten, but Qian Daoliu purchased it for three thousand. Rongrong could not continue bidding because she had brought only a few hundred coins 5.

Unwilling to accept the outcome, she invited them to a restaurant under the pretense of reconciliation. Once inside a private room, she demanded the ornament and threatened to falsely accuse Qian Daoliu of rape. She ignored Zhu Zhuqing’s warnings and shouted the accusation, expecting her social standing to make others believe her 5 6.

Qian Daoliu sealed the room with his Angel Sanctuary, slapped Rongrong, suppressed her Soul Power, and lifted her by the throat. Zhu Zhuqing’s attempt to intervene failed. After releasing Rongrong before she suffocated, he carried her to a hotel and confiscated her Storage Soul Tool 6 7 8.

Captivity and Failed Rescues

Qian Daoliu transferred suitable treasures from Rongrong’s belongings to Qian Renxue and imprisoned Rongrong behind a divine restriction. Her attempts to break through the door and window failed, even after she applied her strength-enhancing soul skill to herself 8 9.

Zhu Zhuqing reported the abduction to Shrek Academy, and Zhao Wuji eventually located the hotel. Rongrong begged him to free her and avenge her, but neither his attacks nor his Martial Soul Avatar could break the barrier. Qian Daoliu returned and killed him, leaving Rongrong shocked by both his strength and his identity as Spirit Hall’s Great Enshrined 12 20 21 22.

Rongrong subsequently apologized for fighting over the ornament and making false accusations. She offered to surrender her possessions and prevent retaliation from her sect. After witnessing Qian Daoliu’s Angel Space-Rending Sword, she began fearing that Chen Xin and Gu Rong would also die if they attempted a rescue 24 25.

The Golden Iron Triangle later demanded her release, but Qian Daoliu defeated their Golden Sacred Dragon fusion. Chen Xin then came alone and likewise failed to break the hotel’s restriction 27 28 35.

Chen Xin’s Death and the Sect’s Destruction

When Chen Xin was defeated, Rongrong begged him to leave rather than die for her. She admitted that she had tried to seize the ornament, falsely accused Qian Daoliu, and urged Zhao Wuji to kill him. She also pleaded with Qian Daoliu to spare Chen Xin 36.

Chen Xin nevertheless made a final attack and was killed. Qian Daoliu opened Rongrong’s barrier afterward, allowing her to crawl outside and embrace his body. He then attacked the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, killed Ning Fengzhi and Gu Rong, destroyed its buildings, and seized its resources 36 37.

A Spirit Hall Soul Master informed Rongrong of her father’s and Gu Rong’s deaths. She blamed herself for losing her family and protectors, but also confronted Qian Daoliu over the destruction. Her last documented scene leaves her grieving in the ruined street as he departs 37.

Appearance

  • Complexion: Fair skin and delicate features 7.
  • Early appearance: Silky long hair and a pale green dress 5 7.
  • During captivity: Her dress becomes wrinkled, her hair disheveled, and her face pale 20.
  • Later appearance: The rescue sequence describes her wearing a long white dress and having short hair 35 37.

Personality

Initially spoiled, possessive, and accustomed to obedience, Rongrong becomes determined to obtain the ornament specifically after seeing Qian Renxue hold it. She disguises her intentions behind a friendly invitation, then openly treats her family’s authority as a substitute for fairness. Even after recognizing Qian Daoliu’s strength, her wounded pride drives her to threaten him with retaliation 5 6 7.

Captivity gradually replaces her arrogance with fear. Her early offers to settle the dispute still assume that wealth and promises of non-retaliation should secure her release; Qian Daoliu and Qian Renxue question whether these apologies reflect remorse or merely fear of death 9 22.

Her concern for Chen Xin eventually outweighs her desire to escape: she asks him to abandon the rescue and pleads for his life. Following her family’s deaths, she expresses both self-blame and anger toward Qian Daoliu 36 37.

Abilities & Skills

Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda

Rongrong’s Martial Soul manifests as a jeweled pagoda. She displays three Soul Rings while attempting to escape the hotel 9.

  • First soul skill — Strength: Invoked with “Seven Treasures Have Names. The first is strength!” She applies its support effect to herself before kicking the sealed door 9.
  • Limits against Qian Daoliu: His pressure prevents her from circulating Soul Power or properly releasing her Martial Soul. His later restrictions seal both her Soul Power and Martial Soul 7 35 36.
  • Divine suppression: The Angel Space-Rending Sword suppresses her pagoda; looking at the weapon causes a sensation as though its light is cutting into her Sea of Consciousness 25.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

All listed possessions are carried in her Storage Soul Tool before Qian Daoliu confiscates it 8.

  • Storage Soul Tool: Holds her money, medicines, herbs, and protective equipment. Qian Daoliu erases its Soul Power imprint to access the contents 8.
  • Medicinal pills: Six Soul Power recovery pills, twelve Soul-Gathering Pills, and cultivation medicine prepared by her sect 8.
  • Spiritual herbs: Hundred-year-old purple jade ginseng, three-hundred-year-old azure ganoderma, snow jade flowers, light-attribute herbs, and nearly five-hundred-year-old Golden Sun Grass 8 9.
  • Soul-Gathering Jade: A gift from Chen Xin that improves absorption of the energy of heaven and earth when worn over time. Rongrong treasures it and keeps it stored rather than using it 8 9.
  • Protective equipment: One Defensive Soul Tool and two Soul Tool talismans capable of blocking a Soul King’s attacks 8.

Relationships

  • Ning Fengzhi — Her father, who supplies her cultivation resources and plans to investigate her disappearance. His death leaves her blaming herself for the family’s destruction 24 27 37.
  • Chen Xin — Her beloved “Sword Grandpa,” childhood protector, and cultivation mentor. He refuses to return without her and dies attempting to rescue her 7 24 36.
  • Gu Rong — Her “Grandpa Bone,” another indulgent protector and mentor. He dies fighting Qian Daoliu after Ning Fengzhi is killed 7 24 37.
  • Zhu Zhuqing — Her companion during the ornament dispute. She repeatedly warns Rongrong to stop, attempts to save her, and reports her abduction to Shrek Academy 5 6 7 12.
  • Zhao Wuji — Her Shrek Academy teacher and would-be rescuer. Rongrong witnesses his death after urging him to attack Qian Daoliu 20 22.
  • Qian Daoliu — Her captor and the killer of her father and protectors. Their conflict begins with the ornament dispute and escalates into the destruction of her sect 5 37.
  • Qian Renxue — Her initial rival over the ornament and the recipient of her confiscated cultivation supplies. Rongrong later recognizes the enormous difference between their cultivation and status 5 8 25.
