Personality

Anime World

Tang San initially treats Yu Xiaogang with filial devotion. Having lacked parental affection during childhood, he embraces the principle that a teacher for a day is a father for life. He shields Yu Xiaogang from Ning Rongrong’s demands, supports him after his collapse, and redirects conversations to spare him embarrassment 3 10 16 33 38.

Learning his ancestry brings both relief that his father has cared for him and pride that he is not a commoner. He immediately condemns Spirit Hall and vows revenge, despite having received its Soul Master subsidies for years 41.

His loyalty to his teacher becomes conditional when his own prospects appear threatened. After Ning Rongrong questions the suitability of his poison-based training, Tang San confronts Yu Xiaogang with faint killing intent and privately considers that ruining his cultivation would deserve death 45.

Manga World

The present-day Manga Tang San feels responsibility rather than uncomplicated pride when the Clear Sky Sect’s history is exposed. He resolves to become strong enough to return, reunite the abandoned Four Single-Attribute Clans, and secure justice for them 38.

His original-future counterpart remains composed under the elders’ hostility. During the formation trial, he identifies weaknesses in their explanation, recognizes an opportunity to learn from the ancestor, and refuses to retreat from the incoming strike 40 43 45 46.

History and Major Arcs

Defending Yu Xiaogang

At Shrek Academy, Anime Tang San repeatedly intervenes in disputes between Yu Xiaogang and Ning Rongrong. He objects to making his teacher kneel after losing a wager and later minimizes his failed predictions as only “one or two” mistakes. Nevertheless, repeated contradictions from the Sky Screen eventually leave him questioning what is happening 3 16 33.

When the Manga World’s Heaven and Earth Soul Rings are introduced, both versions of Tang San ask their respective teachers for explanations. Anime Yu Xiaogang confidently proposes that they were naturally nurtured through the ancestor’s power; Manga Yu Xiaogang explicitly presents his explanation as a guess and waits for further evidence 36.

Discovery of His Ancestry

Anime Tang San initially does not know his family’s origins. Hearing discussion of the Clear Sky Hammer makes him suspect that his concealed second martial soul may be connected to the sect 33 35.

The Sky Screen’s depiction of Manga Tang San identifying himself as Tang Hao’s son prompts Yu Xiaogang to confirm the truth: Tang Hao is Clear Sky Douluo, and Tang San’s second martial soul is the Clear Sky Hammer. Flender and Zhao Wuji confirm that his father visited when he enrolled and asked them to care for him 40 41.

The revelation also creates immediate danger. Bibi Dong orders an investigation of boys around his age and authorizes his execution on discovery. After the Clear Sky Token appears, the Anime World’s King of Slaughter separately orders his guards to kill youths named Tang San or possessing the Clear Sky Hammer 41 42.

Manga Original Future: Returning to the Clear Sky Sect

In the projected future, Tang San visits Bright Moon Mountain after Spirit Hall has destroyed two upper sects, established an empire, and declared war on both empires. He asks the Clear Sky Sect to abandon seclusion and join the resistance 40.

The elders reject his request and invoke the losses associated with his father. They also distinguish acknowledging his ancestry from formally returning to the sect. Tang San answers by producing the Clear Sky Token entrusted to him by Tang Chen 40 41 42.

He explains that his great-grandfather failed a divine examination and had little time left when they met. Tang Chen entrusted him with overseeing sect affairs and leading the sect back into the world against Spirit Hall 42.

Manga Original Future: Breaking the Mountain-Sealing Formation

The elders reveal that their seclusion is no longer entirely voluntary. The Immortal Legacy · Eight Hammers Barrier Formation prevents Titled Douluo from leaving, and Tang Xiao’s combined strength with the six elders cannot break it. Already a Titled Douluo himself, Tang San realizes that he is also trapped 43.

He wagers that he can destroy the formation. Tang Ming agrees that, if successful, the entire sect will follow his commands and leave the mountain. Tang San stakes his future recognition by the sect on the attempt 43.

At the summit, he reveals his level-95 cultivation, twin martial souls, and divinity. The ancestor’s divine soul responds with a Ring Detonation strike intended as a trial. Tang San learns the technique from that demonstration, survives the blow, then uses his Blue Silver Emperor skills to counter subsequent attacks and suppress the formation’s nodes 44 45 46.

His final Great Sumeru Hammer strike shatters all eight formation rings and disperses the ancestor’s apparition. Recognized as the rightful Chief Elder through his own strength and inheritance, he commands the Clear Sky Sect to return to the Soul Master World 47.

The Blue Silver Emperor Training Dispute

The future display exposes a sharp contrast with Anime Tang San’s current cultivation. Ning Rongrong argues that his poison-and-control rings conflict with the Blue Silver Emperor’s life attribute. Yu Xiaogang insists that his approach remains sound and predicts that the other Tang San’s skills will likewise be poison-based and controlling 45.

The projected skills instead include an enormous life-infused avatar, attack reflection, and a dragon-shaped manifestation that restrains the formation. Ning Rongrong cites the vitality of his three hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor ring sources as further evidence against Yu Xiaogang’s approach. The passages do not establish whether Anime Tang San’s existing rings cause irreversible damage 46 47.

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses both a plant martial soul inherited through his mother and the Clear Sky Hammer inherited through his father 41 44 45.

• Anime present: His first martial soul appears as Blue Silver Grass; his second is initially concealed on Yu Xiaogang’s instructions to prevent Spirit Hall from identifying him 41 45.
