Background / History
Previous Life and Family Origins
Tang San retains memories of a previous life in which he experienced bullying and lacked familial affection, friendship, and romantic love. His knowledge includes the Tang Sect’s secret arts and the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record 15 38 112.
In his new life, he grows up in Holy Soul Village with Tang Hao, whom he initially knows as a blacksmith. At Nuoding Academy, Yu Xiaogang deduces that his Blue Silver Grass carries Blue Silver Emperor blood and publicly exposes his mother’s soul-beast origins. Tang San falls into distress over what that makes him until Tang Hao appears and confirms the truth 8 9.
Tang Hao tells him to cultivate under Yu Xiaogang and promises further answers once he becomes strong enough. Tang San subsequently recognizes that his father is no ordinary village blacksmith 9.
Nuoding Academy
Li Ye first helps Tang San and Old Jack by forcing an abusive gatekeeper to apologize. Tang San later becomes Yu Xiaogang’s disciple and recognizes Li Ye as his senior brother, despite eventually learning that Li Ye is a few months younger 7 9 12.
At Dorm Seven, Tang San meets Xiao Wu and intervenes when Li Ye holds her in the air. He soon becomes uncomfortable with their growing closeness, although he initially dismisses those feelings because Li Ye is his senior brother and Xiao Wu is only a new dormmate 10.
Li Ye changes the direction of Tang San’s cultivation by reminding Yu Xiaogang that Blue Silver Emperor blood favors holiness and vitality. Rather than adding poison for short-term strength, they prioritize life restoration, with control and attack as secondary goals 11.
Return to Holy Soul Village
During an academy break, Tang San returns home with Li Ye and Xiao Wu. Tang Hao is absent, leaving a letter instructing him to cultivate diligently, conceal his second martial soul, and avoid dwelling on his mother’s affairs. Tang San cries while reading it 15.
The group later discovers a Blue Silver Emperor near a waterfall. Tang San suspects that it might be his mother, but Li Ye persuades him otherwise and claims that transplanting it will prevent interference with his own martial-soul evolution. Tang San refuses to kill it, then willingly helps place it in a sealed planting jar—unaware that it really is Ah Yin 16.
Joining Shrek and the Tournament
Tang San enthusiastically supports Yu Xiaogang’s decision to move to Shrek Academy, wanting to remain with both his teacher and Li Ye. During Li Ye’s later absence, he joins the Shrek Team’s arena training, defeats Dugu Yan, and narrowly avoids being killed by Dugu Bo after identifying himself as Li Ye’s junior brother. He subsequently cures the poison in both Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan 43 68 70.
At Blue Tyrant Academy, he defeats Tai Long and then Tai Long’s father after their repeated challenges. The confrontation introduces him to the fact that their family follows Tang Hao 68.
During the Promotion Tournament, Tang San fights Blazing Fire Academy’s entire team alone. His decision to shield Huo Wu from a fireball leaves him injured but moves her emotionally; the two later exchange a kiss and begin a relationship 76.
Feng Xiaotian challenges him over Huo Wu. Rather than expose the valuable arm bones Li Ye gave him, Tang San publicly releases the Clear Sky Hammer and defeats Feng Xiaotian with the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer. The match reveals both his twin martial souls and his connection to Clear Sky Douluo 77.
In the finals, Tang San manifests the Clear Sky Hammer’s Weapon Soul True Body despite lacking a Seventh Soul Ring. He breaks Hu Liena and Xie Yue’s Demon Charm fusion and sweeps their team from the arena 82.
Slaughter City and Moonlight Pavilion
After the tournament, Tang San reluctantly leaves Li Ye to accompany Tang Hao. Although Li Ye had warned him against entering Slaughter City, Tang Hao forces him to go by threatening to challenge Li Ye. When Li Ye finds him there, Tang San accepts his reprimand as an expression of concern and agrees to stay nearby outside his Hell Slaughter Arena matches 83 91.
Tang San later studies etiquette under Tang Yuehua at Moonlight Pavilion while learning to control the Divine Slaughter’s Domain. Li Ye reunites with him there and takes him to obtain his delayed Sixth Soul Ring 103 105.
Choosing Li Ye over Tang Hao
By the time Li Ye takes him to see Ah Yin at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, Tang San’s relationship with his father has deteriorated. He resents Tang Hao’s coercive arrangements, including pressure to enter Slaughter City and acknowledge the Clear Sky Sect, as well as his refusal to help obtain a Sixth Soul Ring 106.
Tang San declares that he wants to revive Ah Yin through his own efforts but would rather entrust her to Li Ye than to Tang Hao. He proposes letting his father continue believing that she is permanently dead. Li Ye then motivates him to cultivate by revealing that he has prepared four hundred-thousand-year Soul Rings for him; these remain promised rewards rather than documented acquisitions 106.
Shrek Reunion
At the Shrek reunion, Oscar initially fails to recognize Tang San’s changed appearance. Tang San quickly forgives him, and the reunited companions compare their cultivation 108 109.
Tang San later encourages the Seven Devils to challenge Li Ye at a hundred-day banquet. The team loses when Li Ye’s Love Sword Intent briefly overwhelms their emotions, allowing him to knock all seven from the arena 110 111 112.
Appearance
Tang San’s Blue Silver Emperor second awakening transforms him into a markedly more handsome, blue-haired young man. The change is substantial enough that both Li Ye and Oscar initially fail to recognize him 91 109.
- Blue hair and altered aura following the second awakening 91.
- Eight spider limbs emerge from his back when he obtains the Eight Spider Soul Bone 29.
- Refined manners become noticeable after his studies at Moonlight Pavilion 103 109.
Personality
Tang San is studious, respectful, and strongly attached to those who offer him care. He eagerly absorbs Yu Xiaogang’s instruction and treats discipleship as a lifelong familial bond, initially kneeling because he believes a teacher should be honored like a father 9 11.
His dependence on Li Ye grows beyond ordinary respect between fellow disciples. He accepts Li Ye’s scolding as concern, repeatedly calls him “Senior Brother,” and eventually identifies him as his most important family member. Li Ye recognizes that Tang San’s deprivation of affection makes him unusually compliant toward both himself and Tang Hao 70 76 91.
His caution can coexist with resentment and competitiveness. After obtaining his first ring, he becomes reluctant to offend others, especially Xiao Wu, but privately resolves to become strong enough to resist her. His insistence on absorbing the Man Faced Demon Spider’s ring partly comes from that desire to fight back 16 29.
In romance, he is embarrassed by female attention and favors commitment over casual intimacy. He declines to sleep with Huo Wu before marriage and later explains that loving someone means remaining devoted to that person 27 79 106.
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses the Blue Silver Emperor and the Clear Sky Hammer, allowing him to combine healing and battlefield control with heavy close-range offense 77 105.
- Blue Silver Emperor: Develops primarily through life-restoring rings before Li Ye deliberately strengthens its control and damage capabilities with the Sixth Soul Ring 105.
- Clear Sky Hammer: Provides the striking force his grass and spider limbs lack against Feng Xiaotian’s consecutive attacks 77.
- Physical strength: His soul-bone enhancements make his body stronger than that of an ordinary beast-martial-soul Battle Soul Emperor 77.
Blue Silver Healing and Control
| Soul Ring | Skill | Applications and Limits |
|---|---|---|
| First | Life Recovery, renamed Blue Silver Life Restoration | Can heal through green light over an area or grass wrapped around a selected target. Initially, low soul power restricts him to weak healing on one fixed person 14 30. |
| Second | Light of Healing, renamed Blue Silver Holy Light | A healing skill; its precise mechanics are not detailed in the supplied passages 30 105. |
| Third | Spiderweb Trap, renamed Blue Silver Forbidden Zone | Creates concealed webs beneath him, detects movement within their range, and binds multiple targets. It inherits neither the spider’s evil attribute nor its potent poison 29 30. |
| Fourth | Unnamed healing skill | Comes from a willingly offered ten-thousand-year Life Source Deer ring and enhances life restoration 77 105. |
| Fifth | Unnamed Blue Silver Emperor skill | Obtained through second awakening; primarily restores life, with lesser attack power and stunning control effects 105. |
| Sixth | Sky Demon Seed | Plants seeds nearby or on an attacked target. Activated vines imprison targets and drain soul power, life force, and spiritual power for Tang San’s use 105. |
- Binding limits: Li Ye tears through the third skill’s grass through strength alone, while Xiao Wu escapes after using soul power 29.
- Sky Demon’s Terror: Targets held by Sky Demon Seed can be trapped in an illusion. Tang San states that even a Soul Saint with weaker spiritual power would have almost no chance of escaping 105.
- Absorption limit: Draining a much stronger opponent can overload his body. During his test against Li Ye, he diverts excess soul power into the Eight Spider Soul Bone 105.
Life Incarnation
The Life Source Deer Head Soul Bone creates autonomous or remotely controlled copies of Tang San 14.
- Initially creates one incarnation with 70% of his strength, costing half his soul power; the cost decreases as he advances 14.
- Fusion with a second Life Source Deer skull raises his capacity to three simultaneous incarnations, but producing all three would exhaust his soul power 77.
- Uses an incarnation to distract Li Ye during restrained sparring while healing himself and preparing to attack with the Clear Sky Hammer 17.
Hammer Techniques and Soul-Bone Combat
Tang San uses the Clear Sky Hammer’s Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer, also invoked as Chaotic Cloak, to accumulate the force of successive swings 77.
- Against Feng Xiaotian: His stationary hammer sequence stacks attacks faster than Feng Xiaotian’s aerial slashes, allowing him to catch up and win despite starting later 77.
- Weapon Soul True Body: Enlarges the Clear Sky Hammer to dozens of meters tall during the tournament finals without a Seventh Soul Ring 82.
- Eight Spider Soul Bone: Supplies additional close-range attacks, though it cannot initially deliver enough force to interrupt Feng Xiaotian’s strongest technique 77.
- Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone: Enables flight; Tang San uses it to carry five teammates into the air during the Seven Devils’ challenge against Li Ye 111.
Hidden Weapons, Herbs, and Poisons
Tang San retains specialized knowledge from the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record and observes Tang Sect restrictions on sharing secret arts 13 38.
- Godly Zhuge Crossbow: Fires sixteen refined-steel bolts in a burst. He uses it to kill the dying Man Faced Demon Spider before it can strike Li Ye 28.
- Medicinal knowledge: Identifies immortal herbs and explains the recognition requirement for Lovesick Heartbreak Red 26.
- Poison treatment: Cures Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan 70.
- Secrecy: Shares herb knowledge selectively with Li Ye rather than teaching him everything, citing the Tang Sect’s prohibition against divulging its secrets 38.
