Background / History
Awakening and Investigation
Gu Yuena awakens after the Golden Tree's awakening, divine intervention, and seven-colored power disturb the balance around her resting place. The nearby Soul Beasts prostrate themselves before her. Declaring her hostility toward human deities, she leaves the forest in human form 9.
After Di Tian detects a suspicious aura in an ordinary Aolai City household, she gives him a strand of Silver Dragon origin to guide his investigation. His findings connect Tang Qingye's birth to the event known as the Day of Disaster. Gu Yuena suspects a man-made calamity rather than a natural disaster and distinguishes two divine auras—one violent, the other gentle. She orders Di Tian to search the continent for the latter 30 36.
Alliance with Tang Qingye
Their first direct encounter follows a clash between her Silver Dragon Spear and Tang Qingye's newly forged Ghost Soul Reflecting Moon. Her divine artifact drives his spear back, but she approaches with her weapon lowered and proposes cooperation against their shared enemies in the Divine Realm 52.
Tang Qingye already knows both her identity and her plan to infiltrate humanity before leading the Soul Beasts against humans. Their negotiations involve her dragon scales, the Gold of Life, and access to human research. He offers Spirit Pagoda entry and research resources in exchange for half the patent rights. She gives him a scale, receives a refined god's essence, and formally becomes his ally 52 53.
Leng Nu Jiao subsequently escorts her through the Spirit Pagoda and to Tang Qingye's residence. Gu Yuena regards this access as the first success of her infiltration. Zi Ji later accompanies her under the public identity of her paternal aunt 54 62.
Battle Armor and Human Technology
Gu Yuena convenes the Ferocious Beasts when they ask to meet Tang Qingye and obtain Battle Armor. She recognizes that human armor has created a serious combat advantage, but initially has no solution to its incompatibility with Soul Beast cultivation. She summons Tang Qingye, who proposes restructuring their energy channels and successfully tests the process on Bi Ji 61 62 63.
When Tang Qingye proposes founding an organization with himself as leader and Gu Yuena as second-in-command, Di Tian objects and asks that she also be a leader. The proposal does not establish a confirmed formal title for her in the supplied account 63.
At the Spirit Pagoda, she beats Qiangu Zhangting after he pesters her, using elemental power without needing the Silver Dragon Spear. Concerned that injuring the pagoda master's grandson might inconvenience Tang Qingye, she apologizes; he dismisses the danger 71.
She later becomes a librarian at Sun Moon Imperial Soul Engineering Academy. Alongside Tang Qingye, she receives access to its Soul Tool Secret Vault, where she studies advanced designs, including the Level 8 defensive soul tool Azure Waves Cloud Veil 93.
Growing Attachment to Tang Qingye
A failed attempt by Tang Qingye to combine the Golden Dragon King's destruction origin with her creation origin injures him and sends a distressing resonance through their dragon-scale connection. Gu Yuena follows it to his meditation chamber and treats him. His divine blood awakens a powerful draconic instinct, leading her to drink from a wound; blood-sharing becomes a recurring form of intimacy between them 85 103.
Their relationship also develops through teasing and gifts. Tang Qingye obtains a silver dragon's Dragon Core for her after receiving two hundred-thousand-year Soul Bones from her. While he forges their Battle Armor materials, she asks for a ninety-nine-percent fusion rate as a wish that their love will last forever 96.
During their canyon spar, she explains that she wants the Soul Beasts to rise again and the Divine Realm's oppressive gods to be defeated. When she asks whether Tang Qingye will help, he remains silent. She interprets his silence as acceptance, dismisses her armor, and embraces him 97.
Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well
Gu Yuena accompanies Tang Qingye and Di Tian to seize the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well for Tilting Moon Pavilion. When its plant guardians summon the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings' souls, she manifests the Silver Dragon King's authority, breaks their attack, and forces the dragon souls into submission 99.
She then secures their cooperation in moving the dragon remains, springs, and other resources into Tang Qingye's Gourd. She frames their legacies as contributions to the dragon race's revival. Later, she specifically credits her use of the Fire Dragon King's reserves with helping Tang Qingye overcome a cultivation barrier 100 103.
Tilting Moon Pavilion
Before Tang Qingye departs for Heaven Dou City with Ya Li, Gu Yuena warns him that Ya Li might become interested in him. They share a kiss, and he promises to return 106.
At Tilting Moon Pavilion, Gu Yuena contacts Elder Xu and welcomes him with Di Tian. She explains that Tang Qingye's Foundation-Nurturing Pill can clear his hidden injuries and extend his lifespan by nearly a century. Elder Xu takes the pill and confirms its restorative effect 130.
Appearance
Gu Yuena's human form has a cool, noble bearing, with long silver-white hair, purple eyes, and jade-like skin 9 61.
- Dragon form: An immense silver body covered in orderly hexagonal scales that reflect an icy radiance 9.
- Usual clothing: A plain white dress; she also wears a silver-white, dragon-patterned dress during Tang Qingye's forging session 61 96.
- Battle Armor: A streamlined silver-white suit with delicate dragon patterns, a forehead ornament, and a crescent-shaped chest crystal 97.
Personality
Gu Yuena maintains a reserved, sovereign manner even while navigating unfamiliar human surroundings. She studies human institutions strategically, treating her entry into the Spirit Pagoda as progress toward her larger plan. Her caution also appears in her decision to investigate divine activity rather than confront it immediately 36 54.
Reviving the Soul Beasts outweighs her personal pride. She accepts costly cooperation with Tang Qingye because she recognizes that she cannot achieve that goal alone, and she apologizes when her subordinates threaten their alliance. She understands the military importance of human technology and is willing to pursue it for her people 53 61 62.
Around Tang Qingye, her composure gives way to teasing, embarrassment, affection, and jealousy. Beneath that playfulness lies the loneliness of carrying the Soul Beasts' future: her account of their oppression and her request for his help expose a vulnerability rarely visible before her followers 96 97 106.
