Background / History

Divine Realm Origins

While Tang Wulin was still an infant, the dying Golden Dragon King forced its Divine Core into his body during a Divine Realm war. His biological father, Tang San, used divine blood to establish eighteen seals restraining its violent power. The Goddess of Life blessed him to preserve his life, and Huo Yuhao sent him through space to the Douluo Continent 54.

Tang Ziran and Lang Yue found and adopted him. He grew up in Aolai City alongside Tang Qingye, believing that his parents and older brother were his blood relatives. His obscure origins later frustrated Di Tian’s investigation: although Wulin had registration records, Di Tian could not trace where he had come from 36 54.

Awakening and Relocation

At six, Tang Wulin awakened Blue Silver Grass with rank-three innate Soul Power. He was disheartened by the result and subsequently ostracized by classmates who looked down on his martial soul. Tang Qingye comforted him, bought him treats, and encouraged him to use Blue Silver Grass against three thugs whom Qingye had incapacitated while rescuing a robbed child 2 5 6.

After Leng Yaozhu accepted Tang Qingye as her disciple, the family moved to Shrek City under the Heavenly Phoenix Family’s protection. They settled in an apartment on Phoenix Street. Tang Qingye later supplied Wulin with carefully divided Blood-Tempering Pill portions and instructed him to cultivate at home until reaching rank ten 6 7 23.

Sea God Awakening and Family Revelations

Tang San had left a strand of divine consciousness called Old Tang inside Wulin to guard his seals and protect him. Tang Hao awakened it early to monitor the boy after the Golden Tree’s disturbance in Shrek City 8 54.

During Tang Qingye’s confrontation with the Ghost Emperor, Wulin was placed inside a sealed space under the Seven-Colored Gourd’s protection. Qingye pressured his consciousness and stirred his blood essence as the Ghost Emperor attacked, triggering his Golden Trident mark. The Sea God’s will then took control of his body and severely wounded the Ghost Emperor 46 47.

Through memories released by the Gourd, Wulin learned his true parentage and witnessed Tang San and Tang Hao’s willingness to sacrifice lives for their plans and eliminate Tang Qingye. The destruction of the divine souls trapped inside the Gourd left him torn between biological kinship and the family that had raised him. After seeking advice from Grandmaster Qi and recalling Na Nali’s words, he resolved to seize the present and recognize family through the bonds he had actually experienced 54.

Soul Spirit and Forging Training

At Spirit Pagoda Headquarters, Wulin chose the Radiant Huangyun Tadpole because it produced the strongest resonance with Blue Silver Grass. He completed the contract despite warnings about its unusual, otherworldly nature, reaching rank twelve 56 57.

In the Primary Spirit Ascension Platform, he defeated a Netherworld Wolf pack with defensive armor, reflected damage, and vine restraints. Tang Qingye then coached him through a fight against a Swift Demon Tiger, teaching him to shape his defensive radiance into a shield. When Wu Siduo was pursued by a Bloodthirst Demon Bear, Wulin asked Qingye to save her 58 59.

Afterward, Tang Qingye introduced him to Master Mo for forging lessons. Wulin completed a thousand hammer strikes with a pair of heavy metal hammers, earning acceptance as the craftsman’s apprentice 60.

Golden Dragon King Refinement

When the first seal within Wulin loosened, Tang Qingye enlisted the Plane Spirit to address the Golden Dragon King’s remaining consciousness. Together, they suppressed and destroyed it, leaving its Divine Core and essence behind 68 69.

The Plane Spirit directed the First Seal’s share of essence into the unconscious Wulin and resealed the remaining eight layers described in the procedure. These reserves would unlock gradually as his cultivation and physical strength became sufficient. The absorbed essence also awakened Milk Frog’s hidden dragon bloodline 69.

Eastsea Academy

Tang Qingye arranged for Wulin to attend school in Eastsea City after three years away from elementary classes. Wulin initially wanted to remain at home, but Qingye insisted and promised him a Hundred Thousand Year Soul Bone if he recruited outstanding talents into the Spirit Pagoda 85.

At nine, Wulin presented a recommendation letter to Wu Changkong and defeated Xie Xie in an admission trial. Wu Changkong accepted him as a student and later selected him and Xie Xie for special training toward the Class Advancement Tournament. Wulin also searched the academy for gifted students on his brother’s behalf 91 107.

During a later confrontation, Wulin killed Guang Long with his Golden Dragon Claw—the first human life he had taken. Xie Xie stood beside him afterward, while Wu Changkong had remained nearby to protect the boys from Guang Biao 109.

Appearance

Tang Wulin is introduced as a six-year-old with large, clear black-and-white eyes. His childhood appearance is round-faced and soft-haired; by his Eastsea Academy years, his endearing looks and exceptional talent attract attention from older female students 2 23 107.

  • Dragon-themed clothing: Wears little-dragon pajamas, a pale-yellow Milk Dragon costume, and a shirt bearing a playful dragon design 23 46 56.
  • Golden Trident mark: Appears on his forehead when the Sea God’s power awakens 46 47.
  • Golden scales: Absorbing Golden Dragon King essence produces a diamond-shaped forehead scale and scales spreading across his right arm, shoulder, chest, neck, and left shoulder 69.
  • Physical growth: Grows several centimeters taller during the same essence absorption 69.

Personality

Wulin is affectionate and deeply attached to Tang Qingye. As a child, he clings to his brother, asks to share his bed, and treasures the otherworldly stories Qingye tells him. His reluctance to leave for Eastsea Academy reflects his preference for the comfort of home over independence 22 23 85.

His kindness persists even when he is frightened or upset. After being excluded at school, he still wants to help a child attacked by thugs. He later asks Qingye to rescue Wu Siduo and regularly plays with his Soul Spirit to ease the loneliness he senses through their contract 5 59 67.

He is capable of tactical adaptation, combining restraints with reflected force when passive defense fails. However, Wu Changkong considers him idle and unfocused despite his talent; he joins Xie Xie in pretending to be exhausted to escape weighted running 58 107.

Abilities & Skills

Blue Silver Grass

His martial soul produces resilient, pale-blue vines used for restraint, striking, and constructing defensive or offensive forms 5 58 59 91.

  • Entanglement: Restricts an opponent’s limbs and movement. Fast targets such as the Swift Demon Tiger can evade straightforward attempts 58 59.
  • Whipping: Uses individual vines as lashes 5.
  • Construct shaping: Weaves vines together with defensive radiance to form a controllable shield 59.

Blue Silver Milk Radiance Body

His first Soul Skill forms layered Blue Silver Grass armor covered in a milky-gold glow 58.

  • Dissipates incoming physical force and reflects part of it toward the attacker 58 91.
  • Carries a faint life energy that soothes minor scrapes and bruises 58.
  • Can be combined with vine restraints and body charges to force an opponent to receive reflected damage 58.
  • Is not indestructible: prolonged combat leaves its vines cracked and broken, while maintaining combat strains his stamina and Soul Power 58 59.
  • By his Eastsea trial, provides sufficiently complete coverage to frustrate Xie Xie’s attempts to find an opening 91.

Blue Silver Radiant Dragon Spear

His second Soul Skill compresses Blue Silver vines into a sharp spear 91.

  • Shatters Xie Xie’s Light Dragon Blade in a direct clash 91.
  • Supports both attacking thrusts and close defensive control of the space around him 91.

Golden Dragon King Bloodline

The Golden Dragon King’s sealed essence strengthens his body and blood essence. Its controlled absorption also compresses and concentrates his Soul Power 54 69.

  • Produces golden scales and two golden blood-essence rings, distinct from his ordinary Soul Rings 69.
  • Supplies the Golden Dragon Claw, which he uses to kill Guang Long 109.
  • Remaining essence is restrained until his cultivation and physique can withstand further releases 69.

Sea God’s Indwelling Will

Tang San’s divine consciousness can act through Wulin’s body. These feats belong to the possessing Sea God’s will, not Wulin’s independently mastered combat repertoire 47 54.

  • Golden Thirteen Halberds: Uses Thousand Years of Emptiness and One Strike, No Return against the Ghost Emperor 47.
  • Sea God’s Light: Dissolves the Ghost Emperor’s deathly energy 47.
  • Limitations: Every use consumes the remaining divine essence, and Wulin’s mortal body prevents the consciousness from releasing its full power 47.

Forging Aptitude

Demonstrates unusual strength and endurance when introduced to forging 60.

  • Completes one thousand strikes with two metal hammers weighing roughly twenty jin each 60.
  • Finds the repeated exertion increasingly satisfying despite accumulating fatigue 60.
  • Is accepted as Master Mo’s apprentice; no formal forging rank is documented 60.
