Several vehicles sped down a New York avenue, carrying rows of armed personnel. They were the belated arrivals from the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, led by Natasha, who looked striking in her combat gear. Beside her was a bald-headed Nick Fury, the director of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division.
He had originally left this matter to Natasha, but just as they were preparing to depart, people from higher up had suddenly arrived to conduct a so-called routine inspection of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. That was why they had been held up. Once it was over, Nick Fury had changed his mind and come along with Natasha.
"Natasha, I have a feeling something might go wrong. We need to hurry!"
Nick Fury spoke to Natasha with his brows tightly furrowed. He had a feeling that their delay had been no coincidence, and something might well go wrong.
"Director, something has happened. According to our informants, an armed unit appeared at the orphanage and attacked it!"
At that moment, an intelligence officer began reporting the news to Nick Fury.
Bang!
Veins bulged on Nick Fury's forehead as he slammed his fist hard against the car window, striking it with enough force to leave a slight crack!
"Damn it, my gut feeling was right! Something did happen! Full speed ahead! Get to the orphanage as quickly as possible!" Nick Fury roared angrily. He had known his gut feeling was right, and sure enough, something had happened.
"Looks like the higher-ups aren't clean either."
Natasha spoke slowly, narrowing her eyes, her words hinting at something. Being played like this infuriated her too, but more than anything, she regretted being unable to reach the orphanage immediately. She still could not believe that the brat with the mismatched eyes was the mastermind. She wanted to verify it herself.
"Once this is over, I'm not letting them off!" Nick Fury said in a low voice. He already had a few targets in mind, people among the higher-ups whom Hydra had infiltrated. After all, the people who had come to conduct the inspection this time made it quite obvious.
"Get to the orphanage, fast!"
Nick Fury roared at the driver, and the S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel picked up speed, heading for the orphanage.
Meanwhile, the situation at the orphanage was brutal. Gunfire rang out constantly, accompanied by screams. Every moment, a Hydra soldier fell, whether one who still retained his senses or one under Xia Zuo's control.
As the battle continued, large numbers of soldiers kept falling. Fewer and fewer remained in the fight, and the last group of soldiers all rushed into the orphanage building.
With the battlefield shifting inside the orphanage building, the courtyard fell quiet for a time. Only the bodies of the slain soldiers remained, along with the ground stained red with Hydra soldiers' blood.
The black commander, Suo Luo, watched the orphanage from outside, his brows tightly furrowed and his heart somewhat tense. Now that the fighting had moved inside the building, he could no longer see exactly what was happening from his position. He could only hear the occasional gunshots and screams coming from within.
In fact, his best option was to move closer so that he could observe the situation inside. But what had happened to those soldiers earlier had frightened him. That bizarre battle, in which people fell under someone else's control without even realizing it, made Suo Luo hesitate.
After a long time, the gunfire inside the building suddenly stopped. Everything became utterly quiet, without a single unusual sound. It seemed deeply eerie!
Suddenly, one soldier, then another, walked out of the building. There was still some blood on their clothes, and they looked as though they had been through a brutal battle.
"Sir, everyone who was being controlled has been eliminated. We've also successfully captured that boy. He's in the main hall."
The two soldiers excitedly approached the black commander, Suo Luo, and reported this hard-won good news.
"Excellent! Quick, take me to see him!"
Hearing the good news, Suo Luo immediately spoke in excitement. He promptly had the two soldiers lead the way and strode into the orphanage. He was truly curious about just what sort of person could cause such panic. He was very curious about Xia Zuo and really wanted to see what he looked like.
"Yes, sir!"
The two soldiers answered at once and walked ahead, leading the black commander, Suo Luo, inside. But in his excitement, Commander Suo Luo failed to notice the red ring deep within each of his two soldiers' eyes.
Soon, the black commander, Suo Luo, followed the two soldiers into the orphanage's main hall. But the moment he stepped inside, he saw a shocking sight.
All the soldiers stood in two rows, their military posture impeccable. At the end of the two rows sat a sofa, and on it lounged a boy with mismatched eyes.
"Commander Suo Luo, I've been waiting for you for a long time."
From the sofa, Xia Zuo looked calmly at the black commander, Suo Luo.
There were mirrors everywhere inside the orphanage building. This was Xia Zuo's territory, so in the time that had just passed, he had already found a way to take control of every soldier who had rushed into the building. He had also used a few tricks to lure General Suo Luo inside.
This is bad! It's a trap!
The black commander, Suo Luo's expression changed drastically. How could he not realize that something had gone wrong? Unfortunately, just as Commander Suo Luo was about to flee, a pair of glowing red eyes suddenly appeared. The inverted-V Geass symbol appeared in an instant, reflected in Commander Suo Luo's eyes!
In an instant, Commander Suo Luo froze.
"No rush, no rush. We still have time to talk."
Xia Zuo murmured, then looked at Suo Luo and said slowly, "Answer my questions, and finally, kill the person who sent you, until death!"
The Geass symbol shone in his eyes, and a red ring appeared in Commander Suo Luo's eyes.
Geass's first ability: Absolute Command activated!
Contract established!
