Taking Stock of the Spoils, the Secret of the X-Gene Database
Lynn stared at the metal cube, which was only the size of a matchbox.
The edges were charred black, the surface was pitted and stained with a dark red bloodstain. A very faint smell of gunpowder mixed with the stench of blood wafted into my nostrils.
He didn't reach out to take it immediately.
The atmosphere in the Dining Room, which had just eased, plummeted to freezing point again because of his few seconds of silence.
Natasha's hands, holding the data tray, hung suspended in mid-air. Her muscles were slightly sore from maintaining the same posture for so long, but she dared not let a single finger tremble. The combat uniform on her back, which had just been soaked with cold sweat, clung to her skin, chilling her to the bone.
She's gambling.
The value of this pledge of loyalty is enough to make Lynn completely accept her, a former S.H.I.E.L.D.. ace.
"The X-Gene Core Sample Database?" Lynn finally spoke. His voice wasn't loud, but it echoed in the empty Dining Room.
He extended two fingers and picked up the cold metal from Natasha's palm.
"Yes, boss." Natasha tried her best to control her breathing, speaking quickly and steadily, "Stryker has been lying low in the Pentagon for over a decade. To perfect the Sentinels ' Underlying Logic, he secretly drew blood and dissected thousands of Mutants. This not only contained detailed data on known Mutants, but more importantly, it contained the coordinates of civilians worldwide who harbored the X-Gene but had not yet awakened."
Upon hearing this, Susan, who was leaning against the Kitchen Island, suddenly brightened up.
She knew all too well the value of this data.
"Boss." Susan took a step forward urgently, her high heels clicking on the floor. "The supercomputer in the Baxter Building is downstairs. Give me three minutes, and I can unravel all of Stryker's secrets."
She had to demonstrate her value. Natasha had retrieved the data, so she had to be the one to turn that data into wealth.
Lynn glanced at her.
He casually tossed the metal block onto the gleaming marble countertop. It clattered with a crisp sound.
"Go."
Susan felt like she'd been granted a pardon. She completely disregarded elegance and immediately pulled out the Holographic Projection keyboard above the dining table.
Buzz--
The Supercomputer Matrix on the ground floor of the entire building instantly went into full power. A deep rumble traveled up the load-bearing walls, causing ripples to spread across the coffee cups on the table.
A blue Holographic Screens unfolded in mid-air, bathing the entire Dining Room in a deep blue light.
Susan's ten fingers moved like blurs, frantically tapping the virtual buttons. A series of complex cracking codes flashed across the screen.
Wanda scoffed at these high-tech gadgets. She simply knelt quietly beside Lynn's legs, pressing her face against his knees. Scarlet magic flickered at her fingertips. Like a lioness guarding her prey, she watched Susan and Natasha warily, ready to nip any movement that might threaten Lynn in the bud.
Gwen Stacy squatted on the other side, fiddling with the unsheathed dagger in her hand. She didn't even glance at the screen; all her attention was focused on Lynn's breathing rhythm.
It's broken.
Less than two minutes later, Susan let out a long breath, a thin layer of sweat beading on her forehead.
On the Holographic Screens, a huge red warning box shattered like glass.
Immediately afterwards, a waterfall of Data Stream down.
That's not dry, boring code.
Instead, they are thousands upon thousands of slowly rotating DNA double helix structures. Next to each diagram are densely labeled coordinates, age, ability assessment predictions, and even the stability of Genes mutations.
"That Stryker is insane..." Susan gasped, staring at the scrolling data. "He didn't even spare newborn babies."
Lynn stood up, his tall frame blocking the morning light from the window.
He stared at the screen filled with dark blue data, his ambition no longer concealed in his deep black eyes.
Stryker was like a rat that couldn't see the light of day, hiding in the basement and spending over a decade collecting these Genes, just to build a few pieces of junk.
What a waste!
Lynn tapped her fingertips lightly on the table.
His current physical body, enhanced by the Super-Soldier Serum and Spider Physiology, is indeed formidable in close combat. However, its limits remain. If he were to withstand Thanos ' The Snap or face the judgment of the Celestials, this level of physique would be far from sufficient.
But now, a key to ultimate evolution is placed before him.
With these Genes samples, plus Susan's top-notch biotechnology, and the infinite energy of the Negative Zone at his disposal.
He could easily extract these mutant abilities and develop an enhanced serum that would be loyal only to him.
In this universe where we could be manipulated by the Deity at any moment, relying solely on these few Yandere women who might blow up buildings out of jealousy at any time is far too passive.
He needs absolute power.
He needs an army that can help him crush all the rules.
"Screen out the list of those rated Alpha-Level or higher separately," Lynn ordered, his voice laced with unquestionable coldness.
Susan immediately started typing on the keyboard.
The graph on the screen instantly decreased by 99%.
Less than thirty special Gene Chain, emitting a red glow, remained suspended in mid-air. Each one represented a terrifying potential to destroy a city.
Lynn extended his index finger and slowly slid it across the Holographic Screens.
Blue light and shadow played on his face, flickering between bright and dim.
His gaze swept over the code names one by one.
His gaze fell upon a Genes map that had been isolated and designated "Unnamed-001".
A sudden change occurred.
Lynn's heart skipped a beat.
This is not a metaphor, but a violent contraction in a physical sense.
His blood flow surged in a fraction of a second. The Chaos Magic within him, which had been perfectly suppressed, suddenly surged uncontrollably and wildly, like a shark that had smelled blood.
The temperature of the skin surface suddenly rose. A teeth-grinding grinding sound came from deep within the bones.
"Boss?" Natasha was the first to notice something was wrong and abruptly looked up.
Wanda sprang to her feet instantly.
She was most sensitive to Chaos Magic. Scarlet light emanated directly from her eyes, and the violent energy instantly overturned the dining chair in front of her.
Her gaze was fixed intently on the red Genes map.
"Something's watching him!" Wanda's voice instantly turned shrill, filled with undisguised, ferocious killing intent. "Who gave you permission... to look him in the eye!"
Lynn ignored Wanda's rampage.
He stared intently at the double helix structure.
A sharp roar came from my eardrums, and a Dark Gold sea of fire flashed across my retina without warning.
Deep within my mind, the "Till Death Do Us Part Simulator," which usually only speaks when the simulation ends, suddenly erupted with an extremely piercing red alarm.
[Warn!]
[Extraordinary energy fluctuations detected!]
[Unknown Cosmic-Level Mental Imprint remains within the target Genes sample!]
Lynn's pupils contracted slightly.
This is not just ordinary Mutants Genes.
The mental tremor transmitted along the Data Stream carried an aura of destruction powerful enough to incinerate an entire galaxy. It was aloof, violent, and extremely dangerous.
And now, this power resonates with the surging Chaos Magic within his body.
It transcends spatial distance.
They've got their eyes on him.
