White Bone Hall, the piercing alarm finally ceased.

The lingering echo seemed to still hang on the cold stone wall, making the deathly silence in the air feel especially heavy.

On the Central Holographic Display, the image frozen was that black, explosion-proof medical van. The doors were wide open, and the back seat was empty except for a plain black card lying quietly in the creases of the leather seat.

The distorted "Battleworld" symbol on the card, like a mocking eye, stared at everyone around the conference table.

Gwen Stacy's hand, which was under the table, unconsciously clenched into a fist.

Jean Grey's face was ashen, her lips pressed tightly together, and she remained silent. The target had been moved within her jurisdiction using her plan. Now, the person was missing.

Wanda leaned back in her chair, her fingertips tapping unconsciously on the table, her gaze shifting between the piano and Hela, lost in thought.

Hela was the first to break the silence.

She stood up, her military boots making a soft sound on the floor.

"Sir."

Hela stared directly at Lynn, her voice devoid of any emotion.

"The escort mission failed, Stability Maintenance Office, as the security implementation unit, bears an unshirkable responsibility. I, Hela, as the head of the Stability Maintenance Office, bear primary leadership responsibility."

She first took the initiative to take responsibility, her attitude was impeccable.

Then, the tone shifted abruptly.

"However, I must clarify one point. This operation, from the final selection of the route to the security arrangements inside the special vehicles and the handover procedures along the way, was entirely planned and implemented by the Mutants Management Committee. The Stability Maintenance Office was merely an implementing unit."

Her gaze, sharp as a knife, turned to Jean Grey across from her.

"I annotated the plan three times, arguing that the single underground tunnel route posed a huge risk and suggesting the addition of an aerial backup route. However, the Management Committee rejected all of these suggestions on the grounds of 'avoiding public panic' and 'maintaining a low profile.'"

"In retrospect, our so-called low profile has become the best cover for the enemy."

Every word struck the zither.

This is a blatant attempt to hold someone accountable, and an undisguised signal of a power grab. What reason does Management Committee have to exist if it can't even protect the key figures within its own core group?

"Director Hela," Qin's voice was strained as she forced herself to stand up, "The plan was approved through collective discussion by the Standing Committee, not just my decision."

"Collective discussion doesn't mean shared responsibility." Hela sneered. "When something goes wrong, someone has to step up. As the leading department for the plan, shouldn't the Management Committee provide an explanation?"

"I..."

Qin opened her mouth, but found that any explanation seemed pale and powerless at this moment. The fact was that the person was missing, mysteriously disappearing right under her nose, in the midst of her entire plan, and right under the nose of the Stability Maintenance Office.

The atmosphere in the meeting room had reached freezing point.

Wanda stopped tapping her fingers on the table and watched the spectacle with great interest.

Gwen Stacy frowned and quickly jotted something down in her notebook.

Lynn remained silent.

He simply stared silently at the card on the screen, as if studying its patterns. The rising steam from the thermos blurred the expression on his face.

He allowed Hela's offensive to become increasingly fierce, and allowed Qin's situation to become increasingly precarious.

Lynn only made a move when Qin's shoulders began to tremble slightly and Hela's arrogance reached its peak.

He extended his index finger and tapped lightly on the surface of the long conference table.

Dude.

The sound wasn't loud, but it instantly silenced the entire hall.

Hela immediately shut her mouth, sat down again, and stood up straight.

Qin seemed to have all her strength drained away, and slumped back into her chair.

Lynn raised his eyelids, his gaze slowly sweeping over everyone present.

"The meeting is now adjourned."

His voice was flat, revealing no emotion.

"Now, convene an emergency expanded meeting."

He paused for a moment, giving everyone time to react.

There is only one issue.

Lynn's gaze finally settled on the light screen.

"Regarding the recent kidnapping and sabotage incident by foreign illegal forces, which was extremely egregious in nature, premeditated, and organized, targeting our core assets and important united front targets."

In short.

The nature of the entire event was instantly reversed.

It was no longer an internal escort failure, no longer an oversight in the Management Committee's plan, and certainly no inadequate security by the Stability Maintenance Office.

This was an attack from the outside, clearly indicating friend or foe.

Hela's smugness and mockery froze instantly. She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but found herself unable to utter a single word. If she were to refute now, it would be tantamount to denying the existence of the "contradictory relationship between us and the enemy," and exonerating the "enemy." She couldn't bear that political label.

Jean Grey abruptly raised her head, her eyes filled with disbelief. She looked at the calm man in the main seat, and her previously cold hands and feet gradually warmed up.

Wanda stopped spinning her pen, her expression becoming exceptionally complex.

Gwen Stacy's pen left a heavy mark on the paper as she looked at Lynn, her gaze filled with utter awe.

With an official characterization, an impending internal purge was defused with a nonchalant gesture. All departmental responsibilities were temporarily suppressed, and the focus shifted to external threats.

That was a brilliant move.

"The on-site handling issues of the Stability Maintenance Office, the problems with the Management Committee's planning and prediction, and the coordination and communication issues of the Liaison Office," Lynn's voice continued, unhurriedly, "These are all our internal problems."

"Once we've repelled this rampant attack from hostile foreign forces and brought them back safely, we'll hold an internal Discipline meeting behind closed doors to investigate and deal with each case one by one."

"But before that," Lynn emphasized, "I demand that all departments immediately unify their thinking and adjust their stance. Our top priority right now is not to blame each other, but to fight back."

"Yes, sir."

Hela, Qin, Wanda, and Gwen Stacy stood up in unison and responded in deep voices.

The internal conflicts were forcibly bridged. A new common goal has been established.

"Very good." Lynn nodded, picked up his thermos, and prepared to take a sip of water.

Just then, the doors of the main hall were suddenly pushed open.

A Communications Officer stumbled in, his face filled with panic.

"Reporting, sir!"

His voice was distorted due to the urgency.

"Representatives of the Brotherhood of Mutants... have breached the outer security Defense Line and are attempting to storm the Management Committee building!"

"They... they specifically named Director Jean Grey and demanded to question her in person!"
