A Standing Committee Meeting Before Discipline Inspection's Arrival: The Top Leader Unifies the Response
The echoes of the white alarm, signifying high-level communication access, seemed to linger.
In the empty hall, only Lynn remained.
The Communications Officer had already left, but every word of the official letter from the Discipline Inspection Department of the Multiverse Coordination Committee remained as cold as a branding iron, imprinted on the air.
"... A comprehensive investigation will be conducted into the assets and historical accounts of the Negative Zone Management Committee..."
Lynn leaned back on the Throne, his fingers tapping rhythmically on the cold bone armrests.
Once, twice.
He did not consult any documents, nor did he issue any instructions.
The main hall was eerily quiet.
The opponent's knife came faster and more directly than expected.
Ke'er's failed message was merely a footnote. The real trap had already been set. This wasn't an audit; it was a political purge of subordinate units by higher-ups.
The purpose is not to audit the accounts.
It's like flipping the table and then dividing up the meat in the Negative Zone that hasn't even been served yet.
The tapping fingers stopped.
Lynn raised his hand and pressed a button on the communication module on the armrest.
"Notification to all Standing Committee Member: a meeting will be held in the White Bone Hall in ten minutes."
His voice was flat, devoid of any emotion.
Less than ten minutes.
The heavy palace doors opened silently, then slowly closed again.
Gwen Stacy, Hela, Wanda, and Jean Grey were already seated on either side of the long table.
No one spoke; the atmosphere was so heavy it seemed ready to drip water.
A screen of light unfolded at the end of the long table, clearly displaying the strongly worded investigation notice to everyone.
Lynn shifted his gaze from the notice and swept it over the four people.
"I've seen them all."
It is a declarative sentence, not an interrogative sentence.
Share your thoughts.
Hela snorted coldly and was the first to speak, her voice filled with undisguised murderous intent.
"My opinion? My opinion is simple. If they dare to send people here, let them never return. When did they become the ones to point fingers on our territory in the Negative Zone?"
"The Stability Maintenance Office can activate the highest-level contingency Contingency Plan at any time to completely seal off the surrounding area. Any unauthorized intruder will be treated as a hostile target."
Her words directly characterized the issue as a military conflict.
Wanda shook her head, seemingly disagreeing with this simplistic and crude approach.
"Using force is a poor choice. The issuing body of this official letter is the Discipline Inspection Department, which has the Highest Access Privileges. If we launch an attack, it would be tantamount to confirming the charge of armed resistance against law enforcement, and would push the entire Coordination Committee to the opposite side."
She looked up at Lynn, her tone filled with absolute technical confidence.
"Give me 24 hours, and I can reconstruct all the underlying accounts. Forget about an investigation; even if they move the servers, they won't find anything wrong."
"Falsifying accounts?" Jean Grey's voice rang out. She had been silently studying the documents until now, when she finally spoke slowly, "Wanda, the people who came are from the Discipline and Supervision Department, not the finance department. They're not checking the data, they're checking the logic. Anything that doesn't align with our actual development trajectory will become their point of attack."
Gwen Stacy remained silent, only tapping her fingers lightly on the table as if deep in thought.
Lynn's gaze fell on Gwen Stacy.
"Gwen Stacy, what's your opinion?"
Gwen Stacy stopped tapping her fingers, looked up, and her eyes were clear.
"Boss, I think Director Hela's plan is too risky; it puts us in an illegal position. Director Wanda's plan is technically feasible, but it has endless political repercussions. Once we're caught red-handed, it's a capital offense."
She paused, then continued, "This investigation order is itself a political trap. Whether we resist forcefully or resort to deception, we're playing right into their hands."
Silence fell once again in the main hall.
Hela's discontent, Wanda's confidence, Jyn's prudence, Gwen Stacy's composure, all woven together under Lynn's watchful gaze, form an invisible web.
Lynn picked up the teacup beside her and blew on it.
The water was cold, so naturally there was no heat.
He took a sip, and the soft sound of him setting down his teacup made everyone's hearts jump.
Gwen Stacy is right.
Lynn spoke, and the decision was final.
"This notice isn't about auditing the accounts; it's about finding fault. Therefore, we can't respond using conventional methods."
His gaze turned to Hela.
"Resisting inspection by force is putting yourself in a dangerous situation; it's foolish."
Hela's face darkened, but she did not refute.
Lynn then looked at Wanda.
"Tampering with data is like handing the knife to someone else; how naive."
Wanda's eyes flickered, and she fell silent.
Lynn leaned back in his chair, his tone calm yet carrying an undeniable decisiveness.
"To counter such an overt scheme, we can only respond with an overt scheme in return."
"I'll set a general tone for this response."
Everyone sat up straight.
"Twelve characters."
Lynn held up one finger.
"Clean books, legal procedures, and primarily delays."
He explained it word by word.
"A clean book doesn't mean falsifying accounts. It means stripping all real, sensitive, and core assets from the books and legally and compliantly sealing them up. Let them investigate, but what they'll find is just a bunch of meaningless, empty shell data."
"The procedure is legal, meaning if they want to investigate, we'll let them. But every step must strictly adhere to the highest regulations of the Coordination Committee. If they want to see documents, fine, they must first fill out an application form. If they want to enter the computer room, fine, they must first sign Confidentiality Agreement. If they want to interview personnel, fine, the Liaison Office will accompany and record the entire process. We'll use the most cumbersome procedures to completely tie their hands and feet."
"The key is to delay, turning this investigation into a protracted war. They want a quick victory, but we'll not let them have their way. The longer it drags on, the greater the internal pressure on them, and the more likely they are to make mistakes. Our opportunity lies in their mistakes."
He spoke slowly, but everyone present understood him perfectly.
This is a typical method of using bureaucracy to defeat bureaucracy.
Seemingly passive, they actually kept the initiative firmly in their own hands.
The murderous intent in Hela's eyes faded, replaced by thoughtful consideration. Wanda also stopped fixating on the technical solutions and began to consider how to "divest" her assets.
Lynn looked at them and gave them specific instructions.
"Technology Integration Department, complete the divestiture of core assets and data fabrication within 24 hours. I need a ledger that is legally clean enough that the Discipline and Supervision Department cannot find a single fault with it."
"Yes," Wanda replied.
"The Liaison Office must immediately establish Inspection Preparation Leading Group, with you personally serving as the group leader. Find all the regulations, precedents, and memorandums concerning auditing and investigations since the establishment of the Coordination Committee, and study them word by word. I want you to become experts in the rules, even more knowledgeable than the Discipline and Supervision Department."
"Understood." Gwen Stacy nodded.
"Stability Maintenance Office, all troops are to be decommissioned and switch to internal security duty mode. Put away your knives, but keep your eyes open. I don't want any trouble to occur inside the Negative Zone during the inspection."
"Yes," Hela's voice was low.
"The Mutants Management Committee, do a good job of internal ideological work to ensure stability. Qin, you personally handle this matter."
"Okay, boss."
Once the order was given, the tense atmosphere was replaced by a highly unified, efficient, and orderly work rhythm.
Lynn looked at them and gave a final emphasis.
"Remember, from this moment on, we are a unified whole. All departments must operate around this overarching principle. Whoever makes a mistake will be held accountable."
"Yes!" the four replied in unison.
Lynn waved his hand.
Go and prepare.
Just as everyone got up, preparing to leave...
A red alarm, sharper and more urgent than the previous white one, suddenly resounded throughout the Negative Zone!
The temple doors were flung open, and a Undead Centurion stumbled in, his voice filled with unprecedented terror.
"Reporting, sir!"
"Radar indicates... a... an Audit Ship representing the Highest Access Privileges in the Multiverse has breached the outer shielding layer of Negative Zone!"
"It... it's forcibly descending!"
