A closed-door joint inspection meeting, accusations of interdimensional espionage
The meeting room door was closed.
This door, crafted from Special Alloy for Negative Zone, blocks sound and prying eyes. But it cannot block the almost solidified low air pressure inside.
The two sides of the long conference table were clearly defined.
Ravonna Renslayer sat in the main seat, with only one expressionless Technician behind her, operating the data screen that floated in mid-air. Her posture was relaxed, her fingers unconsciously tapping rhythmically on the smooth tabletop, as if waiting for a performance with a pre-written script to begin.
Opposite them is the core layer of the Negative Zone Management Committee.
Liaison Office Director Gwen Stacy Stacy, Stability Maintenance Office Director Hela, and Technology Integration Department Director Wanda sat side by side, each with a different expression.
Gwen Stacy's face was calm, with only a glass of water and a Data Pad in front of her.
Hela leaned back slightly, her arms crossed, her eyes cold, like a sculpture ready to devour anyone at any moment.
Wanda's fingertips were wreathed in almost invisible Scarlet Energy, her gaze shifting between Ravonna and the Technician behind her, as if analyzing every flow of data in the air.
This was a closed-door joint inspection meeting urgently convened by Ravonna after she received the resume materials, citing the discovery of "major safety hazards that need to be reported in person."
First of all, thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedules to attend this meeting.
Ravonna began to speak, her voice steady and her pace moderate—a standard, official opening.
"Since the establishment of the Special Inspection Team, our work has received strong support from the Management Committee, especially the Liaison Office. I am personally very grateful for this."
Her tone shifted, and her gaze fell on Gwen Stacy's face.
"It was within this efficient and transparent collaborative environment that we were able to uncover some... disturbing situations while sifting through historical archives."
As she spoke, she gave the Technician behind her a wink.
The Technician understood and lightly tapped the light screen with his finger.
Buzz.
A Holographic Projection instantly unfolded in the center of the conference table.
On the left are twenty-seven official resumes with strict formatting and bearing the official seal of the Negative Zone Management Committee.
On the right is a Infiltrating Agents List written in Hydra's encrypted code.
The names on the two lists were precisely connected by Scarlet data lines, corresponding one-to-one.
Ke'er's name was prominently listed.
His official resume and his Hydra identity, hidden deep within the S-7 server, were placed side by side like a meticulously framed work of art, full of irony.
The temperature inside the conference room seemed to drop by more than ten degrees.
"According to the Inspection Group's preliminary investigation," Ravonna's voice was devoid of emotion, as if she were reading an autopsy report unrelated to herself, "Among the current or former personnel of the Negative Zone who are remnants of the old era, at least twenty-seven people highly overlap with the Hydra's Infiltrating Agents List."
"This includes Ke'er, the former Foreign Affairs Office recently caused a major diplomatic incident in the Battleworld and was ultimately purged."
She paused, giving the bombshell enough time to explode in everyone's minds.
"This means that a well-organized and deeply infiltrated cross -Dimension spy network may have been operating right under our noses for quite some time."
Hela slowly lowered her arms, which had been wrapped around her.
Her body leaned slightly forward, and a terrifying aura emanating from the Death Authority began to spread uncontrollably. A thin layer of frost even condensed on the Alloy Wall of the conference room.
"Observer Renslayer," Hela's voice was low, yet carried an undeniable authority, "Are you implying that there are serious oversights in the work of my Stability Maintenance Office?"
Ravonna seemed oblivious to the murderous intent that could make even Deity of the Skyfather-level tremble; she simply met Hela's gaze calmly.
"I didn't mean to criticize any department, Director Hela."
She deliberately avoided using honorifics, which is the way people of equal status should communicate.
"I'm simply stating an objective fact. The fact is, within the Negative Zone, there exists a massive hole, large enough to overturn everything."
Ravonna stood up, placed her hands on the table, leaned forward, and scanned everyone present with her eyes.
"This hole has already led to the Battleworld incident. We cannot allow a similar incident to happen again."
Her voice suddenly rose, filled with unquestionable decisiveness.
"Therefore, I propose that, in accordance with the emergency authorization clause in the Bilateral Memorandum regarding 'responding to systemic security crises,' the Joint Inspection Group immediately and comprehensively take over the core personnel database of the Negative Zone, as well as all related data ports!"
"We must conduct a thorough and comprehensive background check and loyalty assessment of all our staff!"
"This is to ensure the long-term stability of the Negative Zone, and also to demonstrate to TVA and all the Multiverse forces that are concerned about this matter our determination to undergo painful reform!"
The true intentions are revealed when the map is unrolled.
That was her real purpose.
Using irrefutable espionage allegations as a weapon, they broke through the procedural Bastion of the Management Committee and seized control of the database, which symbolized core power.
"Presumptuous!"
Hela slammed her hand on the table, causing the conference table, forged from a mixture of Vibranium and Uru Metal, to groan under its strain. A murderous glint flashed in her eyes, and the phantom of the Night Sky Sword loomed faintly behind her.
"A mere Observer dares to presume to interfere with the core authority of the Management Committee? Who gave you the audacity!"
A terrifying pressure surged towards Ravonna like a tidal wave.
However, just as that force was about to touch Ravonna...
A hand gently pressed on Hela's wrist.
It's Gwen Stacy.
"Director Hela."
Gwen Stacy's voice remained calm, yet carried an undeniable power.
"Please note that this is a joint inspection meeting. According to the meeting agenda and code of conduct, neither party may use threats or pressure to disrupt the normal proceedings of the meeting."
She raised her head, looked at Hela whose face was ashen, and said, word by word.
"Your actions are being recorded in their entirety. This will be submitted to the Director as an attachment."
Hela's chest heaved as she stared intently at Gwen Stacy. She couldn't understand why, at a time like this, this woman would still bind herself with these ridiculous rules.
Gwen Stacy did not back down; she simply met her gaze calmly.
A few seconds later, Hela's murderous aura finally subsided.
She snorted heavily, shook off Gwen Stacy's hand, and leaned back in her chair.
An internal conflict that could have torn the world apart was forcibly suppressed by Gwen Stacy in the most proper way.
Ravonna took it all in, a barely perceptible smile playing on her lips. She knew she had already won half the battle. Internal division was her best weapon.
She sat down again, looking at Gwen Stacy with a composed expression.
"Director Gwen, thank you for maintaining order in the meeting room."
"Now, faced with this overwhelming evidence of espionage, and the compliance request I made on behalf of the Inspection Group, I wonder how the Liaison Office should respond?"
