A reply requesting postponement to the Golden Scroll, the overt political gambit of ecological binding
The office was quiet.
Susan has left, taking with her the Top Secret dossier from Earth-838, and also her last bit of significance as a pledge of allegiance.
Lynn leaned back in her chair, remaining motionless.
His fingers tapped lightly on the armrest, once, then again, the only sound in the enormous office.
The light screen was still suspended in the air, hovering over the words "Rule Envoy".
He looked at those words calmly.
If you want to take something, you must first give something. If the Living Tribunal can yield once, it can yield a second time.
The key is to provide a reason that the other party cannot refuse, or in other words, that makes refusal too costly.
Reed Richards ' reason back then was the safety of the entire Earth-838.
Lynn's chips were no less than his.
He pressed the Internal Communicator.
"Director Gwen Stacy, could you come here in person?"
There was no further small talk, nor was there any inquiry about her work.
A few minutes later, Gwen Stacy walked in.
She held a blank Data Pad in her hand, exuding the efficient air that comes with handling a lot of complicated official business. She walked to the desk, stopped, and looked at Lynn with a questioning gaze without saying a word.
"Draft a reply," Lynn began, her voice steady, "And send it to the Living Tribunal."
Gwen Stacy's eyes narrowed slightly, and she then opened a new document on the Data Pad.
"I'll dictate, you write it down."
"The tone of the letter should be humble, but the logic must be rigorous, and every word must withstand scrutiny."
Gwen Stacy nodded, her fingers hovering over the light-screen keyboard.
"To begin, I would like to express my sincere respect and gratitude for the Supreme Court's attention, and acknowledge that there have indeed been abnormal energy fluctuations in our jurisdiction recently."
This is a matter of attitude, and it must be corrected. Acknowledge it first, then explain.
"Then, let's move on to the main text."
Lynn slowed his speech, each word sounding as if it had been meticulously calculated.
"First, we must clearly inform the other party that our Negative Zone Management Committee is currently in a critical period of fully upgrading the ' S.H.I.E.L.D. Protocol.' This agreement concerns the fundamental security and stability of the entire jurisdiction for the next century, and all administrative resources have been invested; no interruption is allowed."
Gwen Stacy's fingers flew across the Data Pad, generating lines of precise official terminology.
"Secondly, citing the precedent of the ' Universal Ecological Indivisibility Act,' I emphasize that as the highest-ranking official of the Negative Zone Management Committee, according to Article 3, Paragraph 1 of the Management Committee's ' Basic Law,' I am the sole responsible entity and core Anchor for maintaining the dynamic balance between the two special high-risk energies of ' Chaos ' and 'death' within the jurisdiction."
He paused, giving Gwen Stacy time to process and take notes.
"Make this point concrete and detailed. Make the other party understand that my existence is not a personal issue, but a technical and legal prerequisite for maintaining the stability of the entire Negative Zone Ecological Stability."
"Yes, Director," Gwen Stacy replied softly, having fully grasped Lynn's intentions.
This deeply links an individual's crisis with the safety of the entire jurisdiction.
"The third point, and the most important one," Lynn's gaze sharpened, "Is to elaborate on the risks. If I leave the territory, it will directly cause the collapse of the region's energy balance system. At that time, the energies of ' Chaos ' and 'death' will overflow on a massive and irreversible scale, causing devastating ecological pollution to dozens of adjacent Dimension, including the ' Flood-Discharge Special Zone ' that TVA is currently constructing."
He picked up his teacup and blew on it to cool it down.
"The wording should be objective, the terminology professional, and supportive data from the energy dissipation model provided by the Department of Technology should be used as supporting documentation. Avoid writing it as a threat; instead, write it as a concerned and factual risk assessment report."
"Understood." Gwen Stacy paused for a moment. "We need to throw this 'hot potato' back into their hands."
"It's not about throwing them away," Lynn corrected. "It's about inviting them to assess and weigh the options. We are responsible for the overall safety of the Multiverse."
This is an open strategy.
Give the choice to the other party. Either you forcibly take them away for the sake of a procedural inquiry, risking the contamination of dozens of Dimension; or you can only accept their conditions.
"Finally, at the end of the letter, we formally present our request."
"Based on the above reasons, and to avoid triggering an uncontrollable public safety incident Multiverse, we earnestly request the Supreme Court to understand our practical difficulties and, in accordance with precedent, grant our application for a 'postponement of the interrogation.' Alternatively, we request that a special envoy be dispatched to our jurisdiction to conduct a 'remote investigation.' We will fully cooperate and open all non- Core Zone for verification."
After Lynn finished speaking, he put down his teacup.
The entire logical loop is flawless. It has both legal basis and real-world threats, and it even offers a seemingly cooperative solution.
Gwen Stacy quickly compiled all the key points into a first draft and displayed it on the screen.
Lynn read it through word by word.
The letter was worded extremely humbly, adopting a very low profile. Throughout it, it emphasized respect for the Supreme Court and concern for the safety of the Multiverse, as if it were a dutiful subordinate unit reporting to its superiors the enormous difficulties it faced.
But behind every humble word lies an undeniable and forceful logic.
"Very good." Lynn nodded. "Send it this way. Use the highest level of encryption to send it directly to that Golden Scroll."
"Yes."
Gwen Stacy picked up the Data Pad and turned to walk towards a special terminal in the corner of the office. It was a temporary device that Wanda had set up specifically for parsing and reverse-linking the Golden Scroll.
She connected the Data Pad to the terminal and started the sending process.
A barely perceptible Data Stream shot out from the terminal and disappeared into the Golden Scroll was quietly floating on the desk.
Silence fell over the office once again.
Neither Lynn nor Gwen Stacy spoke; they simply stared silently at the scroll.
Three minutes.
Time seemed to stretch out.
Just as the third minute was about to end, the Golden Scroll, which exuded supreme majesty, began to turn into golden powder from its edges without any warning.
There was no sound, no energy fluctuation, as if it had been gently erased from the concept by an invisible hand.
It came suddenly, and it left just as mysteriously.
Gwen Stacy instinctively took a step forward, a hint of wariness flashing in her eyes.
Lynn remained leaning back in her chair, her expression unchanged.
He knew this was just a receipt.
The official approval will arrive soon.
Almost at the same moment the scroll completely disappeared, the entire sky above the dome of the White Bone Hall, in the Negative Zone, was torn apart by a silent force.
That was not a physical tearing apart, but a deeper rewriting of space itself.
A massive rift, composed entirely of golden light, stretched across the entire dim sky.
It was like an open eye, coldly watching everything below.
