The force field shatters: taking the Destruction Ray for you
The green, high-energy rays, like an inverted waterfall, relentlessly eroded the crater.
The air was instantly sucked away, replaced by the pungent smell of burning flesh and the acrid odor of burning Ozone. Lynn's left hand was deeply embedded in the tattered tactical pocket, his fingers gripping the cold metal object tightly.
pain.
Excruciating pain, enough to crush the soul, surged wildly into the brain along the spinal nerves. The 100% pain synchronization of the Substitute Death Skill was not compromised in the slightest; Lynn could clearly feel the muscle fibers in his back curling, Carbonization, and peeling off layer by layer.
But he didn't move.
He knelt heavily on the scorching gravel, his arms like two reinforced steel pillars, firmly supporting Susan's head on either side. No matter how fierce the magical storm raged behind him, he used his own flesh and blood to create an absolute sanctuary above Susan, free from the ghastly green light.
"Bug, how much longer can you hold on?"
In mid-air, Doctor Doom's voice was filled with arrogant rage. A mortal agent without even superhuman genes had actually withstood his destructive beam for more than three seconds. This was blasphemy against the Latvian gods.
Doom clenched his fists together abruptly, and a piercing overload alarm erupted from the dark blue reactor on his chest.
"Boom!"
The energy pressure of the radiation doubled instantly. The ground around the crater collapsed with a deafening roar.
Lynn groaned, his arm bones cracking under the weight, his body sinking downwards. Hot blood gushed from his nose and mouth, dripping onto Susan's pale face.
Every drop of blood was so hot that Susan trembled all over.
She lay blankly in the ruins, her hands stained with the sticky blood from Lynn's chest. Her gaze passed over Lynn's shoulder, which had been burned to the bone, and looked at the broken wall not far away.
There, Mister Fantastic, Reed Richards, was rapidly tapping on the Portable Space Transmitter on his wrist.
Taking advantage of the few seconds that Lynn risked his life to draw all of Doom's fire, Reed successfully restarted the device. A beam of eerie blue teleportation descended from the sky, enveloping Reed.
Susan's lips trembled violently as she saw Reed turn his head to look at the crater in the last second before teleporting.
There was no guilt, no madness, only absolute rationality and ruthlessness.
Reed's lips moved.
Susan understood the lip movements.
"For the greater good."
With a flash of light, Mister Fantastic vanished completely from the ruins of Latveria, along with all the vows he had made to Susan, disappearing without a trace.
"Hahaha..."
Susan let out a few hoarse, agonizing laughs, her tears mingling with Lynn's blood, smearing her face like a demon crawling out of Hell.
Reason? The big picture?
Screw the Fantastic Four! Screw saving the world!
She used up her last bit of magic for that man's false ideals, only to be abandoned without hesitation. And at this moment when the whole world had abandoned her, the only person who treated her as the whole world and protected her was a stranger who was being burned to ashes for her!
"Don't look at him."
A hoarse, rough voice, thick with the stench of blood, rang in Susan's ears.
Lynn lowered his head with difficulty, his dark eyes filled with terrifying bloodshot veins, yet exuding an inexplicable domineering aura. With his only remaining right hand, he roughly pinched Susan's chin, forcing her to turn her gaze away from the direction Reed had disappeared.
"Look at me." Lynn grinned, revealing blood-stained teeth, and forced a horribly cruel smile. "Miss Storm, your life is now mine."
Susan stared intently at the face so close to hers.
The Invisible Woman's noble and rational facade was shattered by Lynn's blood. An unprecedented and extremely morbid possessiveness grew wildly in the depths of her soul like a poisonous vine.
She suddenly raised her arms and tightly hugged Lynn's broken neck, pressing her cheek against Lynn's pounding heart.
"It's all yours... it's all yours!" Susan's voice was chillingly obsessive. "Lynn, if you dare to die for me, I dare to make the whole world pay for it!"

Hearing the system notification in his mind, a barely concealed glint flashed in Lynn's bloodshot eyes.
The time is right.
Next, we added the final, fatal spark to this fire.
"Buzz--!"
Doom's Destruction Ray reached its most violent peak.
Lynn's back had completely lost its fleshy color. Large chunks of charred Carbonization peeled off his body and turned to ashes in the wind. His spine, exposed to the air, turned an eerie dark red under the high temperature.
The passage of life was irreversible; this mortal body had finally reached the brink of collapse.
"Cough..." Lynn coughed up the last mouthful of black blood mixed with fragments of internal organs, and his body swayed violently.
He took a deep breath of the scorching air, and finally pulled his left hand, which had been stuck in his tactical pocket, out with a sudden movement.
In the raging magical storm, Lynn's body was largely Carbonization, and large amounts of ash scattered from his shoulders. He gripped the cold metal object and, with his last ounce of strength, slammed it down hard into Susan's palm.
