Lu Wen sucked his teeth in irritation, but there was nothing he could do. He simply started browsing the dimensional listings section, even using a refresh.
The Dimensional Ruins Market Listing System! It wasn't just a system for posting missions, but a dimensional ruins market as well! Besides bounty missions, it also offered barter trades.
Each page had five bounty orders. Some sought rare materials, some offered rewards for killing a particular target, and others looked for help breaking magical seals...
There were people selling knives, trading swords, and asking whether anyone sold lightsabers! People sold hides and armor, and some even set up stalls selling underwear! Some sold young animals or listed birds, and others asked whether anyone wanted to raise little monsters!
The listings were all over the place, and the types of worlds they covered were just as chaotic! But he couldn't afford any of them right now.
Most posters also used code names, with very few using their real names, though he could guess which worlds some came from based on their names or missions.
One order even listed its reward as "one Dragon Ball," with the poster's world specifically labeled "Dragon Balls · Earth."
Lu Wen stared at the picture of that Dragon Ball for several seconds.
Good grief. If that was real, just how big a sucker was the poster?
But on second thought, that wasn't necessarily the case. For people in that world, Dragon Balls were only useful once all seven were gathered. A single one really was just an ordinary treasure.
Trading one for something else wasn't necessarily a loss. The Namekians made the Dragon Balls anyway, so if one went missing, they could just make another. If a collector happened to buy it, that would be a win.
He kept scrolling.
[Bounty: Seeking a method or potion that can "permanently enhance physical attributes." (Posted by: A poor soul who needs to get stronger.) Reward: 3,000 points!] [Bounty: Can someone please save my child! (Posted by: A gloomy-faced primitive) Reward: 5,000 points!]
"Primitives are that rich? What did he trade for those?"
[Bounty: Anyone from the pirate world? Spare me a powerful Devil Fruit! (Posted by: About to lose to the zombies) Reward: Ten tons of gold!] [Bounty: My teammates' abilities are limited, and they can't help much! Can someone help me save my little sister! (Posted by: An ordinary decent young man) Reward: One miraculous Capsule!] [Bounty: I'm in a world of swords and magic, with elves and Orks, science fiction and mysteries! But this world is always at war! Would anyone be willing to come help do their part for humanity in this world! (Apocalypse Warrior) Reward: 100,000 points per visit!]
Lu Wen stared at that order for five seconds.
"Well, well~ A hundred thousand points! And that's per visit. Pretty generous! But that world description... Do you think I'm stupid? Fucking swords and magic, elves and Orks... Isn't that fucking Warhammer!
"This bastard's fucking press-ganging people for that yellow-skinned weasel! This guy's definitely a transmigrator! Pah~ What a piece of shit!"
Still, judging by the guy's name, he seemed to be a badass who had survived the Apocalypse War! Otherwise, he couldn't have that many points.
Besides being able to connect to the main system to post orders and exchange items from their own worlds for points, those selected by subsystems were also given basic ways to earn points by their subsystems.
Just as he earned points by killing Chitauri soldiers, people in different worlds could earn points through activities specific to their worlds, then use them to trade on the main system.
That counted as a stable source of point reserves for the system, he supposed~
Leaving those digressions aside, the point was this! He would never touch that cesspit called Warhammer until he was absolutely confident!
No matter how many points he could earn!
He didn't want his black-on-white system panel turning blue the moment he landed, or becoming a mix of blue, green, red, purple, and gold.
Besides, if some clueless rookie transmigrator host mistook it for an anime-style hero's adventure world and rushed headlong into it in a fit of excitement over beast-eared girls, wouldn't they just be serving themselves up on a platter?
And the guy had even made the order sound so nice. Pah! Crafty fellow transmigrator!
He stopped refreshing and left the orders on that page. Though there was a crafty fellow transmigrator on it, one of the orders was acceptable. He just hadn't decided whether to go do a mission right now.
After all, he had only just transmigrated...
As for orders he had refreshed past, that didn't matter. As long as no one accepted them, they could show up again with another refresh. And after accepting an order, he would arrive at the time it was posted, so nothing would be delayed.
"Ah~ I can't decide. My feelings are all over the place... Is this what those protagonists in tokusatsu shows go through when they feel lost? Heh, kind of interesting."
Lu Wen closed the system panel and lay on the sofa, staring at the ceiling as he muttered to himself.
He! He had originally been just one of countless wage slaves, having basically cut off all pointless social contact. He was the only one left in his family! He no longer contacted his few remaining relatives either. Alone in the world, he was a textbook transmigrator candidate.
"Tch~ Don't tell me that's why I transmigrated? Fuck! I waited four months for that vacation!"
Thinking about what had happened to him, Lu Wen couldn't help gritting his teeth inwardly! Damn it, at least let him finish his vacation and transmigrate him on the day he went back to work!
"Whatever, I'm here already! What can I do if I don't accept it? I've got to live either way! An exciting life is better than living like a bot."
Muttering inwardly, Lu Wen rolled over onto his stomach on the sofa.
He didn't think his sense of emptiness was just making a fuss over nothing.
After living so long in a world he was used to, he had suddenly been given an entirely different way of life without so much as a warning! No one could immediately accept such a huge disparity in their reality.
They were either genuinely carefree, faking it, or had lived far too oppressive a life before.
But a little brooding was enough. What normal person didn't have feelings? Life still had to go on, and what difference did it make where he lived it? There was no need to wallow endlessly.
But! He had one piece of incredibly good news!
His phone had come along with him! Wasn't that much better than those people a Dayun truck sent to another world?
He summoned the system again and glanced at the phone lying quietly in his system space, unable to help feeling a burst of secret delight. There wasn't much on his computer; it was all on his phone! At least~ he had left an unsullied reputation behind!
When he thought of those poor compatriots taken away by Dayun trucks, their phones still lying back there, browsing histories undeleted, systems unformatted, and some even leaving everything on their computers without time to destroy it... he couldn't quite help wanting to laugh at their expense!
Hahahahahahaha~
Just as he was inwardly losing it, the control screen on the lounge wall lit up, and JARVIS's voice came through.
"Mr. Lu, Mr. Stark would like to invite you to his private laboratory. He says there's something he'd like to discuss with you."
"Now? He's finished?"
"Yes. Mr. Stark also said, if it's convenient for you."
Lu Wen thought for a moment, then sat up on the sofa.
He had nothing else to do. He had seen everything he needed to see in the system and didn't feel like accepting a mission yet, so he might as well chat with Tony.
The man was his benefactor, after all. That million hadn't come through yet.
"Sure, lead the way."
Tony's private laboratory was even more extravagant than Lu Wen had imagined.
Holographic projections, robotic arms, and all sorts of equipment he couldn't name filled the room!
Tony stood at a workbench, fiddling with an Arc Reactor component. He didn't even look up at the sound of footsteps.
"Sit. Anywhere you like. What would you like to drink?"
"Anything."
Tony gestured at the robotic arm in the corner, and it immediately began mixing something that looked like whiskey.
Lu Wen sat on a nearby barstool and looked around the laboratory.
"So, what did you want to see me about?"
Tony put down the component and turned around, holding a glass of his own liquor.
He raised his other hand and gently extended one finger...
