The lights upstairs at Gordon's House were still on before that cup of cold coffee in the Batcave had been completely drained.
Barbara came back from the hospital, her coat carrying a faint smell of disinfectant.
A nurse had made Dick sit back down in the visitor's chair, and police officers were guarding the hospital room. John and Mary were stable for now; the tests would have to wait until morning. When Barbara brought back this news, Chen Mo was crouching by his bedroom window, studying Gordon's note.
The house has a door.
Don't use the windows.
Chen Mo glanced at the window latch.
A little black shape poked out from his collar-Venom.
Chen Mo pushed it back down.
"Don't remind me. I know I've got the moral low ground right now."
Barbara stood in the doorway, her black backpack back on her shoulders, zipped all the way up.
"When did you find out I was Batgirl?"
Chen Mo still had his hand on the window latch.
Here it came.
Time to settle accounts.
"The first day I moved in."
Barbara tucked her gloves into her belt one at a time.
"So you've been acting all these days?"
"Didn't you do the same thing before?" Chen Mo looked back.
"But you enjoyed that whole process."
"Of course." Chen Mo nodded frankly. "Everyone needs a little cultural enrichment in their life."
Barbara pulled a short baton from her backpack's side pocket.
Chen Mo immediately raised his hands.
"Peace, peace. No fighting indoors. Commissioner Gordon will send us both out to sweep the yard."
Barbara put the baton away.
"Patrol?"
"It is about time." Chen Mo stood, Venom spreading up his neck as the Black Suit covered his clothes layer by layer. "Shall we?"
"Let's go."
They both looked at the window.
