The taxi had already barreled right up to Chen Mo.
Chen Mo had barely raised his head from the ground when his Spider-Sense stabbed sharply into his brain.
He rolled aside, and the taxi's front end scraped past his Red and Black Suit and crashed through the intersection. Its left front wheel was already gone, and the rim dragged a long trail of sparks across the road. The driver lay slumped over the steering wheel, unresponsive.
Good news: the spawn point finally wasn't beside a dumpster.
Bad news: this was worse than being beside a dumpster. At least it was safe there.
Chen Mo raised his hand and fired a web.
The web wrapped around the taxi's rear axle, then stuck to a roadside fire hydrant.
It pulled taut.
The taxi swung halfway around, its rear end crashing into the boxes piled outside a convenience store before finally stopping.
Chen Mo fastened the Cable Device to his wrist, secured the TemPad to his waist with webbing, then turned and rushed toward the taxi.
"Sir, wake up."
The driver's forehead was covered in blood.
The seat belt was jammed, and the door was warped. Chen Mo grabbed the doorframe and pulled outward, tearing the entire door off the car with a piercing screech of metal.
The driver opened his eyes and saw the spider emblem on his chest.
"Spider-Man?"
"Yes, that's right, it's me. Miss me? Yes, that's right, it's me. If you want an autograph, please wait a little. I'll give you one the next time we meet. Now's not really a good time."
Chen Mo snapped the seat belt and lifted the man out of his seat.
He had barely set the driver down by the roadside when a beam of purple energy swept toward them from the intersection.
