"This is where we need Allen's strength!
He's a white dragon! He has the power of frost. Although he can't create water directly, he should still be able to sense bodies of water rich in water elements, right?"
As Xiluo spoke, he patted his little white dragon follower's head.
These Dragon Cubs were almost at the very bottom among all the dragons in terms of size.
He wasn't even four meters long, probably only around three meters seventy or eighty. Beside Xiluo, he didn't even look as though he belonged to the same age group.
On top of that, the white dragon hatchling was timid and kept his head lowered, so Xiluo could easily reach it.
"Well... I'd need to be within a certain distance. Maybe one kilometer... maybe two..." the little white dragon said meekly, narrowing his eyes.
"Oh, I see. No wonder you brought this useless thing along. You'd already thought of that." Understanding dawned on Gordon's face, and the way he looked at the little white dragon changed ever so slightly.
"All right! Let's go! From now on, we'll look for prey and water at the same time!"
With a wave of his foreclaw, Xiluo led the two Wyrmlings onward.
They walked north for about four kilometers.
Only then did the little white dragon, Allen, speak:
"I sense it! To the west! There are lots of water elements over there. It must be a fairly large body of water!"
"Good. We'll head west now."
Stirred by the news, Xiluo spoke immediately.
The three Wyrmlings changed direction at once.
They walked for roughly another kilometer.
Several hundred meters away, they saw a fairly broad body of water, where a few animals were drinking and playing in twos and threes.
Gordon immediately looked excited and started forward on all fours, ready to charge over.
Fortunately, Xiluo reacted swiftly and grabbed his tail.
Gordon looked at him with some annoyance and confusion:
"What are you doing?"
"Shh! Keep it down! Didn't your inherited memories teach you how to hunt? You have to sneak up quietly! Then ambush them! If you charge straight over like that, the prey will run away long before you get there!"
"Hmph! All my inherited memories teach me is how to fight! How to grow stronger!
Hunting? That's not even necessary! Once I learn to fly, won't it be easy?"
Gordon gave a disdainful snort, his face full of pride.
"We can't fly yet!"
Xiluo sounded exasperated.
"You two stay here! Leave this hunt to me!"
Preparing to handle it alone, Xiluo began crawling forward, not wanting these two idiots to drag him down.
The grass on the plain was quite tall, concealing even most of Xiluo's body. He advanced slowly, and when he was still about two hundred meters from the prey,
An animal that looked like a deer suddenly glanced toward Xiluo. After a long cry, all the animals turned and ran!
At that,
Xiluo was a little dumbfounded.
He didn't give chase, because he knew that at this distance, even if he used Lightning Flash, he would never catch them! He simply stood rooted to the spot.
Gordon and Allen caught up from behind.
The Red Dragon Whelp looked at him with contempt. "So these are the hunting skills you awakened? Heh heh heh! Even without awakening mine, I could do just as well as you!"
This little shit! Mocking me again!
Xiluo's face darkened as he cursed inwardly.
Red dragons really do have foul mouths. If you didn't have some strength, and I didn't want you as my follower, I'd teach you a lesson!
"This isn't looking good. These animals are too alert! Perhaps that vigilance is exactly what's helped them survive near the green forest for so long."
Xiluo sighed.
By now, all the prey had run far away, but a few still lingered in the distance, staring fixedly at them.
Xiluo knew their chance was completely gone.
Still, he wasn't too discouraged and instead led the two Wyrmlings to the water.
This body of water covered roughly a thousand square meters. A mass of green plants floated on the lake's surface, and quite a few fish were visible underwater, though none looked very large.
Xiluo wasn't picky. He jumped into the water and scooped up a few fish to fill his stomach a little.
Afterward, they continued searching for prey.
As they walked on,
the little white dragon suddenly stopped, then headed east.
Xiluo noticed his unusual behavior and stopped as well, watching him walk several dozen meters before coming to a halt.
Only then did the little white dragon look toward Xiluo and call in an excited growl:
"Xiluo! Gordon! Come here! Look what I found!"
"Hmm?"
Xiluo was somewhat surprised, but he walked over anyway, with Gordon close behind.
The two Wyrmlings looked closely beside the little white dragon's claws.
A burrow seventy or eighty centimeters across came into view.
Chitter, chitter...
Faint sounds came from inside the hole.
Xiluo's eyes lit up.
Gordon looked delighted as well. "There's prey inside?"
"Of course!" Xiluo nodded, then instructed the two Wyrmlings:
"Burrows belonging to creatures that live underground generally can't have just one entrance. There must be other exits nearby!
Allen, stay here and keep watch! Gordon, come search the area with me. Once we find them, block the openings immediately! Understood?"
"No problem."
The two Dragon Cubs nodded.
Xiluo and Gordon began searching nearby. Before long, they found two openings and sealed them completely.
The three Wyrmlings gathered again at the original entrance.
Gordon glanced at Allen:
"The rest is up to you! Hurry in there and catch the prey inside!"
"We don't know what creatures are inside. Taking reckless risks isn't wise!
More importantly, the burrow is too small. Once inside, we wouldn't be able to move our bodies at all.
Even if we're dragons, we shouldn't take risks like that!"
Xiluo rejected Gordon's suggestion.
He pulled up the grass around the entrance, handful after handful.
Once he had gathered a pile, he stuffed some of it into the hole.
Then he pointed at the entrance and looked at Gordon. "Come on! Breathe fire here!"
"What for?" Gordon blinked in bewilderment.
Hiss...
Xiluo forcefully exhaled a stream of air crackling with electricity through his nostrils, giving the Red Dragon Whelp a speechless look.
These fellows really don't have any common sense without their inherited memories!
"It's complicated! Even with your intelligence, I'd have a hard time explaining it to you quickly. But... just do as I say! I guarantee you'll have a full meal in a bit! Come on! Open your mouth! Breathe fire! Be good!"
Xiluo spoke patiently.
"..."
Gordon frowned.
"Why do I feel like you're talking strangely?"
He couldn't help asking.
"No, you're overthinking it. Don't you know what sort of dragon I am? Come on! Hurry up! Don't you want another full meal?"
With a perfectly serious expression, Xiluo urged the Red Dragon Whelp on.
The Red Dragon Whelp kept feeling that something was off about Xiluo's attitude, but seeing his pleasant expression and hearing the promise of a full meal, he opened his mouth and breathed fire anyway.
Thick flames sprayed over the entrance.
The grass caught fire, and dense smoke rose.
Xiluo beat his wings repeatedly toward the opening, sending a strong wind rushing into it and driving all the white smoke inside!
"Gwooo~"
"Goo goo goo~"
Restless cries immediately rang out inside the burrow, then receded into the distance.
They were probably trying to escape through the other openings, but unfortunately, those had been blocked! The prey inside had nowhere to run!
Thick smoke kept pouring in.
It left the prey inside no chance to slowly dig their way out, forcing them to charge toward the only exit, where Xiluo and the other two dragons waited!
