Background / History

Green Forest and the Rivalry with Xiluo

Gordon grew up among Green Forest’s dragon hatchlings. At four years old, he was a full size larger than his peers and relied on overwhelming physical strength to dominate them. He recognized Xiluo as a genuine rival after sensing the danger of his breath weapon, while treating weaker hatchlings with little consideration 3.

His aggression brought him into conflict with Barbara, who bound him with vines after he ignored her orders. Although favored in the hatchling competition for his strength, he lost the overall championship when Xiluo used Lightning Flash to overtake him in the final race 4 8 10.

Their rivalry gradually became an acknowledged friendship. After initially insisting that they were only competitors, Gordon admitted Xiluo was his friend and offered to share his Bloodline Refinement Technique—provided Xiluo fought him seriously. The resulting duel ended with Gordon unconscious after a brutal defeat 29 34 36 37.

Niro City and the Search for Greater Power

Gordon remained closely involved with Xiluo’s growing forces. He devised iron plating for his scales, took part in recruiting the Boar-Pigfolk, and supplied the blood used to transform Tīgǔ and Steel Fang into Dragonization Species 80 86 148 149.

In Niro City, soldiers knew him for training diligently almost every day. Nevertheless, his progress failed to close the widening gap with Xiluo. He secretly sold a Metal Dragon debt contract to the Church of the Goddess of Wealth, bought red copper, magic items, and scrolls, and departed for Abyssal Hell. His farewell letter declared his intention to gain enough power to defeat Xiluo 215.

Abyssal Hell and His Return

Gordon’s pursuit of resources in Abyssal Hell nearly killed him several times. One injury left him with a facial scar and a blinded eye, although both had healed by his reunion with Allen. He returned wielding black flames and pursuing the full awakening of his Hellfire Dragon inheritance 356 357 358.

He subsequently discovered a silver deposit on Demon Island and negotiated its development with Xiluo and Abel. Later, determined to establish income independent of Xiluo, he found Black Rock Ore near the Abyssal outpost and began subduing weak, unaffiliated demons and devils to create his own force 366 457.

Legendary Battles and Bloodline Advancements

After fully awakening his Hellfire Dragon bloodline, Gordon joined Xiluo and Lawrence in clearing powerful demons and devils from the region around their outpost. He later fought the Tidal Titans threatening Niro City, drawing their attacks away from the city and helping prevent their tsunami from advancing 497 511.

During the struggle against the Gods’ Allied Army, Gordon and Xiluo consumed the World Tree’s remaining branches and leaves to prepare their bloodlines for advancement. Xiluo then protected Gordon through his Magma Dragon and Earth Core Dragon breakthroughs, including fighting off creatures occupying the necessary elemental sites 553 554 555.

Demigod and Abyssal Grand Lord

After reaching demigod, Gordon relocated to Abyssal Hell and pursued his own ambition of becoming a Grand Lord. He eventually defeated the ruler of the twenty-second layer and claimed the position. By the following year, his body had become entirely black and was surrounded by dark green fel energy 593.

Over the following thousand years, his own income, support from the Abyss Will, Xiluo’s benefits, and the Dragon Emperor Aura helped him reach level 29. He became the Holy Xiluo Empire’s only dragon with a level-20 potential rating 601.

Appearance

Gordon begins as an unusually large red hatchling. Successive mutations make him darker, more heavily armored, and increasingly unlike an ordinary Red Dragon 3 65 358.

• Early mutation: Blackish-red, thickened scales; small bumps along his back; and hot air escaping with each breath 65.
• After his Abyssal journey: A muscular dark-red body wreathed in black flames, later displaying prominent bone spikes and raised back protrusions 356 369.

Personality

Gordon is proud, combative, and intensely competitive. As a hatchling, he ignored weaker dragons’ pleas for mercy and cared chiefly about challenging Xiluo. His habitual dismissal of others as “trash” persists long after his companions become formidable dragons themselves 3 357 360.

His boasting conceals relentless effort and anxiety about being left behind. Although he repeatedly declares that he will surpass Xiluo, he privately recognizes Xiluo’s exceptional nature. His deeper goal is to keep pace with him while remaining ahead of their other companions 215 419 457.

He is not exclusively reliant on brute force. He invents scale plating, seeks multiple gods’ favor, develops independent mining income, and organizes his own followers when he identifies limits to his current approach 80 419 457.

Gordon’s confidence in Xiluo can be as extreme as his rivalry: he stakes one million gold coins on Xiluo’s tournament victory despite the uncertainty surrounding the final. He nevertheless remains fiercely resistant to any suggestion that Xiluo might become his father through a relationship with Eudora 406 575.
