Sequence Users were a group of people who had emerged with the apocalypse.
However, the apocalypse had only begun a few short months ago, after all, so Luo Fan merely knew that Sequence Users existed-a group of people with supernatural powers, with different sequences possessing different powers.
But Luo Fan knew little about the finer details.
Even what he knew now was only because the Hope Convoy itself had two Sequence Users.
For example, Zhao Chunfeng, the leader of the Hope Convoy, had the ability to perform divination.
It was precisely thanks to his supernatural power that the Hope Convoy had encountered almost no Fierce Beasts or supernatural horrors along their escape route. Most of the survivors who had died had met with trouble while gathering supplies.
"An ill omen? The leader's divination showed an ill omen? Th-then maybe we shouldn't go in?"
"Isn't that obvious? When is going into a town to gather supplies ever not dangerous?"
"Exactly, exactly. In this apocalypse, just being alive is an ill omen. Getting a good omen would be like winning the lottery."
"Since the leader said we can go in, we can go in."
"The leader said we have an hour at most. Let's hurry."
Leaving aside Luo Fan's feelings, the survivors around him broke into discussion as soon as Zhao Chunfeng finished speaking.
Although some were still too frightened to enter, most cautiously made their way into the town.
Some rode motorcycles, some rode bicycles, and some walked.
Luo Fan also gathered himself and followed them into the town.
On full alert, Luo Fan warily watched his surroundings.
Beware of Fierce Beasts by day and supernatural horrors by night—this was a rule almost everyone had come to understand over the few months since the apocalypse began.
But that rule did not apply when gathering supplies.
Why?
Because after several months of the apocalypse, the power grid had almost completely collapsed, and gathering supplies meant searching pitch-dark interiors.
So even during the day, it was possible to encounter supernatural horrors inside dark buildings.
Dozens of people entered the town and scattered. Some went alone like Luo Fan, while others formed groups of two or three.
Luo Fan walked down the middle of the sunlit road, staying alert, with no intention of heading toward the town center.
After all, if he could find things on the outskirts, why go to the center?
But after searching seven or eight homes in succession, he had found nothing practical. Luo Fan had only collected a blanket and put it into his Storage Space.
Having a blanket would make sleeping at night a little better.
Unfortunately, his Storage Space only had the capacity of two or three suitcases. Otherwise, Luo Fan would definitely have stuffed a quilt inside.
For now, the most important supplies were still food and water.
He had searched seven or eight homes without finding any supplies. Had this town already been picked clean by another convoy?
Would he have to head farther toward the town center to find supplies?
After a brief hesitation, he estimated that about twenty minutes had already passed. Luo Fan gritted his teeth, no longer inclined to keep searching the outskirts.
He walked along the sunlit street, continuing toward the center.
On the way, Luo Fan saw two or three survivors heading back with things bundled in cloth bags. Sure enough, there were supplies in the center.
Delicious Hot Pot!
After walking for a while, Luo Fan looked at a small shop not far ahead. Its door had already been smashed. Standing in the sunlight and peering inside, he could make nothing out. It was pitch-black, as though the sunlight had been completely shut out.
It was a hot pot shop before the apocalypse? Wouldn't there be a better chance of finding all kinds of food stored inside?
Nearly half an hour had already passed. Luo Fan had no time to think too much. Tightening his grip on his short blade, he walked inside.
Cold~
The instant he entered the shop, Luo Fan felt a chill wash over him, making the hair on his body stand on end.
It felt like walking under the midsummer sun until he was drenched in sweat, then suddenly entering an air-conditioned mall, a rush of cold greeting him in an instant.
He took out the lighter he carried with him. With a click, a bean-sized flame sprang up, barely dispelling the darkness inside the shop.
The shop was not large, about fifty or sixty square meters, with a few tables and chairs. Luo Fan first walked over to examine the chest freezer beside him.
Well, it should originally have held plenty of ingredients such as skewers, but after several months without power, all the food inside had rotted.
What a waste, Luo Fan thought, then walked over to the beverage fridge nearby.
Through its glass door, he could see plenty of drinks inside: purified water, juice drinks, cola, and beer.
Delighted by the sight, Luo Fan opened the glass door and stuffed everything into his Storage Space.
These were all survival supplies, especially drinks like cola, which could quench thirst and were high in sugar-just what he needed to survive.
After he put away fifty or sixty bottles of assorted drinks, his Storage Space was roughly seventy percent full.
Luo Fan thought for a moment, then continued farther inside to see whether he could find any food.
His Storage Space was not even full yet, and even if it were, he could still carry things in his hands.
Rumble!
Luo Fan was about to look deeper inside the shop when he suddenly heard a series of loud crashes outside.
Has a fight broken out? Is it a Fierce Beast? Luo Fan's heart tightened at the sound.
Zhao Chunfeng had said they had an hour at most to gather supplies. Had more than half an hour already passed?
Holding up his lighter, Luo Fan hurried deeper into the shop.
There was a small door at the very back, presumably leading to where the owner kept supplies and the like.
Sure enough, although the storeroom behind it was a mess, Luo Fan soon found half a bag of glass noodles.
The staple options for hot pot included glass noodles, instant noodles, and sweet potato noodles. These glass noodles were clearly left over from before the apocalypse.
Pleased, Luo Fan stuffed the half bag of glass noodles into his Storage Space, filling it completely.
But Luo Fan did not give up and continued searching.
If he found anything else, he could either carry it in his hands or take out the blanket inside.
Sure enough, after searching for a little while, Luo Fan found some instant noodle blocks.
There was only a box less than half full, containing about a dozen noodle blocks, but to Luo Fan, this was already a good haul.
Cold!
Just as Luo Fan bent down to pick up the partly filled box of noodle blocks, he suddenly felt something cold on his head, as though a drop of cold water had landed there.
This made Luo Fan's heart shudder, and his body froze as though struck by an immobilization spell.
Raising the lighter in his hand, Luo Fan looked up.
A doll's face appeared right in front of Luo Fan, mere inches away.
The doll was riding on Luo Fan's neck, looking down at him. Its eye sockets were pitch-black, as though it had only pupils and no whites.
Its mouth was stretched into a grin, revealing teeth as sharp as sawteeth, and saliva dripped down.
Now Luo Fan understood exactly what had dripped onto his head.
But a Creepy Doll was sitting on his neck, and he had not felt a thing?
When had it climbed on!?
