The woman wore a scarlet satin wedding gown, its dragon-and-phoenix patterns embroidered in gold thread dazzlingly vivid.
Her jet-black hair was swept into a soaring phoenix bun, and her phoenix hairpin and jeweled ornaments swayed gently as she moved.
She had curved, dark brows, red lips, and pearly teeth. Rouge colored her cheeks like rosy clouds, and the gold ornaments at the corners of her eyes glittered.
Her skin was fairer than snow, and a hint of bashfulness lingered in her features. With delicate steps, she approached him and called softly, "Husband..."
"Holy shit!"
Yang Yong shuddered and abruptly broke free of the illusion, a layer of cold sweat springing up on his back.
What the fuck was that thing?
A stunning beauty appeared out of nowhere and immediately called him husband. Who the fuck could withstand that?
He steadied himself and examined the ruined temple more closely.
Besides the statue of the woman in bridal clothes in the center, statues of an old man and an old woman stood on either side.
The three formed a triangular arrangement, their features carrying an indescribable eeriness.
Yang Yong racked his memory but could not recall ever hearing of a temple that worshipped statues like these.
"How strange..."
He muttered under his breath, "It looks like an ordinary ruined temple. Why are the things it worships so sinister?"
Everyone searched the temple, but never mind fuel or food-they could not find a single useful thing.
With no other choice, they withdrew in disappointment and returned to the bus.
With fuel running critically low, Yang Yong could only plant the One-Yang God-Sealing Banner on the bus and rely on it to propel the vehicle.
Twenty kilometers an hour was slow, but at least they could keep moving.
Night was approaching. Only by staying on the move could they avoid being hounded by those Eerie.
As for the little fuel they had left, they needed to save it for emergencies.
If they encountered danger and needed to break out quickly, having no fuel would leave them utterly helpless.
Honestly, with Yang Yong's abilities, he could have made a clean getaway even on a bicycle.
But the survivors on the bus would only become food for the Eerie.
When the apocalypse erupted, ninety-nine percent of humanity had died at once.
There were not many people left alive.
Unless he had absolutely no choice, he would not abandon these people.
The bus slowly started moving, heading down the slope.
The trip uphill had taken only ten minutes.
But...
Now, as they headed downhill, the bus crawled along for half an hour, yet the road seemed endless.
A trace of unease gradually rose in Yang Yong's heart.
Just then, the survivors inside the bus suddenly erupted in terrified screams.
"Mr. Yang! Look! That temple... why is that temple still ahead of us?"
"What?"
Yang Yong's heart lurched. He immediately rushed beside the driver's seat and pressed against the windshield to look outside.
Directly ahead of the bus, the ruined temple stood prominently atop the slope, in exactly the same position as when they had set off!
Something was wrong!
They were clearly driving downhill, and the temple was clearly on the hilltop. How could it still be ahead of them?
"Stop! Old Zhao, stop the bus!"
Yang Yong shouted sharply.
Old Zhao slammed on the brakes, and the tires scraped against the ground with an ear-piercing screech.
Without another word, Yang Yong vaulted onto the roof of the bus.
He gazed into the distance.
Ahead stood that sinister ruined temple.
He whipped around-
Behind him stood the very same ruined temple!
The identical building, in the identical state of disrepair, looked as though it had been cast from the same mold, firmly blocking both directions!
"Fuck!"
Yang Yong's scalp prickled, and a chill shot from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. "Are we fucking trapped in a ghost maze?"
"Old Zhao! Change direction! Drive left!"
He roared through gritted teeth.
Old Zhao did not dare delay. He immediately wrenched the steering wheel around, turning the bus toward the wilderness on the left.
For those five minutes, Yang Yong stared fixedly ahead, not daring to blink.
But the next second, his pupils abruptly contracted.
The scene before him suddenly distorted for an instant, like an old television switching channels-
The ruined temple appeared directly ahead again!
Yang Yong whipped around. The ruined temple behind him still stood silently, as though mocking him without a sound.
"Change direction again! To the right!"
He roared hoarsely, his eyes bloodshot.
Flustered, Old Zhao turned the bus again.
Five minutes later.
The same scene played out for the third time.
The ruined temple appeared ahead once more.
The bus descended into complete uproar.
"We're finished... are we never getting out?"
"What the hell is this place? Are we going to be trapped here until we die?"
"I don't want to die! I don't want to die!"
Cries and desperate curses rose one after another.
Driven mad by fear, one survivor suddenly lunged at the door, trying to jump off the bus and flee.
"You're asking to die!"
Yang Yong's gaze turned cold. He darted over and brought the edge of his hand down hard on the back of the man's neck, fast as lightning.
The man gave a muffled grunt and went stiff as he passed out.
"All of you, behave yourselves!"
Yang Yong gripped the Little Golden Flood Dragon Scissors at his waist, their coldly gleaming blades circling in the air, his voice as icy as frost.
"Anyone who dares move recklessly or run off again, don't blame me for showing no mercy!"
The survivors trembled beneath his ruthless gaze and instantly fell silent, not even daring to breathe loudly.
With the disturbance settled, Yang Yong sat cross-legged on the bus roof and forced himself to calm down.
They had found this place last night by following Old Cao's instructions and heading in the direction of the Blood Moon.
Old Cao was a Data Master.
Although they had not known each other long, Yang Yong knew that people of the Data Analyst Sequence never lied about anything involving data.
That was their price, and also their bottom line.
Old Cao's catchphrase echoed in his ears again: data did not lie.
In other words, this was definitely not a certain-death trap. There had to be a way out!
Could... there be some clue they had missed?
Yang Yong's eyes lit up, and he shouted into the bus, "Everyone, get out! Spread out and search! Search every inch! The ground, the grass, the cracks between the rocks-search everything carefully! There has to be a clue!"
He was the only Sequence Transcendent on the bus, and his word carried absolute authority.
Though deeply reluctant, the survivors did not dare disobey. They got off the bus and began carefully searching the wilderness around it.
But the land was barren, with nothing except withered yellow grass and loose stones.
After searching for a long time, everyone was panting with exhaustion, yet they had found nothing.
Where exactly was the clue?
Yang Yong's brows knitted tightly, and his gaze involuntarily returned to the ruined temple.
Could it be... they had to go inside again?
But there was nothing in that temple except those three eerie statues!
The setting sun sank completely below the horizon, and night began to fall.
A sinister red glow slowly rose above the horizon-it was the Blood Moon!
The Blood Moon hung in the sky, its scarlet light spilling across the land and enveloping the ruined temple.
Yang Yong instinctively raised his head and looked toward the Blood Moon.
What he saw made every hair on his body stand on end, and his heart nearly stopped!
In the Blood Moon's red glow, the ruined temple cast a long shadow across the ground.
The temple and its shadow joined together to form a shape-
An upright coffin!
"Holy shit-!"
Yang Yong sucked in a sharp breath and rubbed his eyes hard, afraid he had seen it wrong.
There was no mistake!
It was a coffin!
That ruined temple was actually a gigantic coffin built from stone!
Just then, he suddenly remembered Old Cao's words: follow the direction of the Blood Moon.
At that moment, the Blood Moon hung high in the sky, its scarlet moonlight falling precisely on the top of that "coffin temple"!
Did that mean...
They had to enter that coffin temple once again?
A chill instantly swept through Yang Yong's entire body.
