Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Early outbreak — retrospective 11 Described as comparatively “clueless.” Survivors developed countermeasures around observed behavior, including disguising themselves with an Eerie aura.
Evolved Eerie — more than three months after the outbreak 11 Developed brighter eyes, sharper claws, and more sophisticated hunting behavior. Some learned to distinguish disguised auras, lie in wait, and defeat previously reliable survival tactics.
Continuing evolution — stronger entities and deadlier rules 85 Yang Yong recognizes that Eerie grow stronger over time, with stranger varieties and increasingly lethal rules. Reliance on early survival experience becomes progressively less reliable.
Unknown-level entities 87 Cao Xianming’s Data Model classifies the Nightmare Eerie’s level as unknown and far beyond known Eerie. He considers it above even the entity at Mirage Lake.
F–SSS ranking disclosed 191 192 Sky Base’s exchange list establishes that Eerie are ranked from F to SSS. Yang Yong subsequently encounters an explicitly F-Rank Eerie in the Soul Realm. This is a classification scale, not a demonstrated sequence of individual breakthroughs.
Source-level beings / Sources of Eerie 273 308 The source of the Corpse Worms is described as an Eerie source-level being. A canyon contains 106 Sources of Eerie, each housing an entity powerful enough to warp reality; their relationship to the F–SSS scale is not established.
Blood mutation and attempted second aberration 786 787 Blood-mutated Eerie sustain themselves through Calamity Mist and become stronger when wounded. Huang Pi deliberately uses battle and the destruction of a soul fragment to stimulate blood mutation pollution toward a second aberration; the passages do not establish a completed advancement.
  • Classification is revealed gradually. Yang Yong initially does not know how Eerie are classified or what level his Red-Clothed Female Ghost occupies; he later learns Sky Base’s F–SSS ranking system 39 191.
  • Rank differences have practical effects: the impostor bride’s presence nearly disperses the weaker Red-Clothed Female Ghost through rank suppression alone 32.
  • Blood Moon empowerment is not by itself a documented realm advancement. Its appearance strengthens both Eerie and mutated creatures; released beast soul and spirit monster Eerie can also become increasingly frenzied as Red Moon energy assimilates them 47 50 102.
  • Different classification terms are not interchangeable. Descriptions such as low-tier, mid-tier, source-level, and unknown-level occur alongside the F–SSS scale, but no complete conversion between them is supplied 87 89 191 273.
  • Size and appearance do not reliably establish strength. A Little Girl Eerie shatters Wang Ying’s blade light, while an enormous female Eerie’s initial combat performance falls short of her imposing presence. Cao Xianming’s expectation that stronger Eerie cannot maintain complete human forms is also contradicted by a later encounter 73 392 477.

Background

The Eerie appeared during the apocalypse in the formerly Spiritless World. Their attacks destroyed communities and forced survivors into migrating groups; Guancheng had fallen three days before Yang Yong joined Cao Xianming’s convoy. During his first three months of survival, Yang Yong had never seen a group travel an entire day without an Eerie attack 1.

Cao Xianming presents World Drift Theory as a possible explanation: another world is gradually merging with theirs, bringing Eerie and replacing existing terrain. He treats this as a theory, not a confirmed origin. Former cities can become lakes, making pre-apocalypse maps increasingly unreliable 14.

The outbreak also caused widespread plant and animal deaths, while surviving organisms mutated. Mutated creatures are not automatically Eerie: the convoy safely hunts enormous carp in an area Cao Xianming calculates will remain free of Eerie for three days 15.

Later encounters provide direct evidence of passages between the human world and the Eerie World. A tunnel carries a procession of Eerie toward the human realm, and Cao Xianming confirms that its depths lead to another world. A guide describes such passages as arising where the worlds overlap and exchange territory 441 442 443.

The threat eventually includes organized incursions rather than only isolated local hauntings. Mechanical City previously destroyed an Eerie World channel, after which its City Lord was cursed and disappeared. Without him, the city cannot erase the coordinates associated with an approaching invasion. Yang Yong later destroys a spatial channel with the Great Chaos Warship, but Eerie already present remain dangerous: Liu Yijun explains that the surviving blood-red entities have dispersed to hunt apocalypse survivors 607 636.

Not all Eerie are presented as having an identical origin. Some beast soul and spirit monster types were cultivated spirits, fierce beasts, or demon creatures before becoming Eerie in death. A later blood-colored phantom identifies itself as a fragmented Eerie spawned by Calamity Mist, although this account comes from the entity’s own plea for mercy 102 787.

Characteristics

  • Variable forms: documented examples include humanlike ghosts, a giant snake, and entities associated with haunted buildings. Coffin Temple guests can appear human before revealing fangs, floating bodies, or impossible limb movements 10 32 33.
  • Human disguise: Yang Yong was taught that a disguised group of Eerie could be recognized because none of their feet touched the ground. This is an observed identification clue, not a demonstrated universal test 1.
  • Aquatic presence: Yang Yong considers Eerie at least as numerous in water as on land. Deep-sea encounters later include immense eel-like entities, shark-shaped Eerie with human hands, and octopus Eerie with human faces on their tentacles 9 223.
  • Mostly nocturnal activity: the convoy eventually adopts daytime rest and nighttime travel. Daylight is relatively safer, but the Qinglongzhai attack occurs in bright sunlight. Later Eerie can also approach during the day under protective cloud cover 2 23 44 332 333.
  • Changing behavior: experience becomes unreliable as Eerie evolve. The Drifting Boat Fleet’s aura disguise eventually fails against a predator capable of recognizing the deception 11.
  • Relations among Eerie are not uniformly peaceful: the fleet relied on past observations that Eerie did not attack their own kind, but later encounters show a subdued ghost fighting other Eerie and consuming their remains. Wild sea Eerie also attack one another 11 32 33 223.
  • Intelligence varies: some Eerie speak, bargain, recognize tactical threats, or deliberately torment prey. Others are comparatively unintelligent, as demonstrated by the black-mist Eerie that mistakes a briefly unresponsive furnace pendant for harmless equipment 81 192 503 696 787.
  • Emotions persist in some entities: Eerie can display curiosity, jealousy, anger, terror, and self-preservation. The Executioner Eerie is fascinated by forging sounds, while the Love Letter Ghost provokes romantic jealousy among other Eerie 52 80 192.
  • Fear is not absent: even enormous Eerie can fear a superior opponent. The Human-Faced Owl Bat becomes uneasy before Wang Ying’s decisive attack, and coffin-borne Eerie flee after witnessing Jiang Chen devour their ancestor 223 632.
  • Coordinated groups: the Axe Gang Eerie attack in disciplined formation. Other encounters include Eerie tides, mass migrations, and lesser entities apparently following orders from a stronger controller 80 89 167 172 226.
  • Humanlike appearance is not proof of safety: Yang Yong rejects a red figure’s seemingly reasonable presentation after recognizing its connection to the forces trying to breach the world boundary 651.
  • Eerie aura is not an infallible identification test: some entities conceal their presence, while an aura can potentially originate from an external source rather than the apparent bearer 318 549.

Abilities & Skills

Rule-Based Targeting

Some Eerie require a particular interaction before they can reach or attack a victim.

  • Answering a voice: responding to the entities outside the bus creates an invisible contract that permits entry. A young man’s reply allows the woman in red to appear inside and kill him 19 20.
  • Reading an object: only readers of the Love Letter Ghost’s letter can see her, be touched by her, and become her targets 49.
  • Conditional intangibility: the Little Golden Flood Dragon Scissors initially pass through the Love Letter Ghost without effect, while the Red-Clothed Female Ghost can strike her. Yang Yong can fight her after reading the letter himself 49 50.
  • Specialization rather than universal strength: the Love Letter Ghost’s dangerous targeting rules and illusions conceal weak direct combat ability 50.
  • Boundary enforcement: the Security Guard Eerie initially leaves survivors alone while they remain inside a Ghost Domain, but attacks when Yang Yong charges toward the entrance 73.
  • Forced games: an Eerie in a mahjong parlor compels scavengers to play; losing means immediate death, while victory permits escape 86.
  • Triggered pursuit: Zhang Bihuang reports that a classmate’s response to the Lamp-Under Ghost causes it to haunt the group until that classmate is killed 85.
  • Eye contact: water Eerie can entrance a survivor with a single glance, compelling him to leave the bus and jump toward the water 181.
  • Sight and speech restrictions: a guide interprets the tunnel procession as Rule-Type Eerie unable to harm those who neither see nor speak to them. The immediate danger of sound is demonstrated when people who break silence are devoured; the procession also tries to induce survivors to open their eyes 441 442 443.

Mental Influence and Illusions

Eerie can exploit memory, grief, desire, and regret rather than relying solely on physical attacks.

  • The Mirage Lake entity magnifies victims’ regrets and draws them toward the lake with chanting. Even unconscious victims rise and struggle to approach it 17 18.
  • Voices outside the bus imitate emotionally compelling callers, including a dead child and a pleading young woman 20.
  • The Love Letter Ghost recreates a reader’s youthful romantic memories. Yang Yong becomes absorbed in an illusion of his deceased school crush without realizing he has been trapped 50.
  • Physical danger can interrupt at least some illusions: Wang Ying’s attack forces Yang Yong to dodge and breaks the Love Letter Ghost’s deception 50.
  • The Lamp-Under Ghost cycles through the faces of Yang Yong’s mother, father, and youthful romantic interest to tempt him into responding 62.
  • The Love Letter Ghost’s power also affects other Eerie. Distributed letters provoke jealousy and accusations, turning more than half of a surrounding horde against one another 80.
  • Reported encounters include nursery rhymes that compel listeners toward death and mirror-associated entities that emerge at night to devour sleeping people’s souls 86.
  • The Nightmare Eerie hunts mentally powerful humans whose consciousness has become vulnerable. It does not exist in the real world, instead drifting between the void and the Eerie dimension and imprisoning souls in a constructed Nightmare world 87.
  • The Nightmare prefers prolonged psychological destruction to immediate consumption and can wait tens of thousands of years for its prey to become suitably tormented 87.
  • Tunnel Eerie imitate Cao Xianming’s voice, alternating reassurance, urgency, and commands to coax survivors into answering or looking 442.

Physical Power and Supernatural Movement

Individual Eerie display markedly different combat capabilities.

  • The Slit-Mouthed Woman floats above the floor and seriously injures both Wang Ying and Zheng Xiaofeng during their escape 3 4.
  • The giant snake possesses a tail large enough to smash the Drifting Boat Fleet’s wooden vessels 10.
  • The impostor bride can fly, teleport, immobilize Yang Yong with invisible force, and stop his scissors between two fingers 33.
  • Low-level Eerie can be destroyed by attacks that barely mark a stronger entity, making the power gap decisive 32 33.
  • A cleaver-wielding Eerie moves faster than a car and initially disregards fireballs and arrows. Its response changes when Zhang Bihuang attacks with Holy Light 103.
  • Water Eerie manipulate immense quantities of black hair, restraining victims and attacking vehicles from multiple directions 181.
  • A gigantic eel-like Eerie releases lightning powerful enough to boil the surrounding sea and kill numerous nearby Eerie 223.
  • Ghostly hands can emerge from beneath the ground, seize victims with ironlike strength, and drag them underground 318.
  • The enormous female Eerie changes tactics after encountering strong resistance, redirecting her attack toward a group with more vulnerable survivors 390.

Regeneration and Consumption

  • The Love Letter Ghost repeatedly rejoins her severed body. Repeated attacks weaken her until only a soul wisp remains, unable to restore itself 50.
  • The Red-Clothed Female Ghost consumes the black smoke left by destroyed Eerie 33.
  • Ghostly energy and Eerie remnant souls can nourish ghosts sealed inside the God-Sealing Banner 32.
  • The Eerie General within the Black Gold Bone Blade devours the mist of defeated Eerie, strengthening the weapon. He can also absorb Blood Moon energy to restore his spirit body, although sufficiently intense combat exhausts his reserves 130 421.
  • Captive ghosts can assist one another’s recovery: the Love Letter Ghost helps the injured Little Girl Eerie restore her form within the Three-Yang God-Sealing Banner 375.
  • Predation can concentrate danger rather than eliminate it. The school convoy interprets a city containing only six Eerie as a warning that the survivors have devoured its weaker entities, although this is their assessment rather than a confirmed account of every death 109.
  • Blood-mutated Eerie differ from ordinary Eerie in their response to injury: Calamity Mist sustains them, and further wounds can intensify their madness and strength 786.

Spatial Entrapment

Supernatural locations can prevent ordinary escape.

  • Roads around the Coffin Temple repeatedly return the bus to the temple regardless of the direction taken 29.
  • Inside, identical corridors and rooms form a looping ghostly formation 32.
  • Yang Yong bypasses portions of the interior by cutting directly through walls and beams rather than following the corridors 32.
  • The Nightmare Eerie constructs a separate world for tormenting captured souls rather than physically pursuing prey in ordinary space 87.
  • A gigantic eight-armed, octopus-like Eerie occupies the core of an underground world. Its tentacles connect to countless lesser Eerie, maintaining the field throughout that world; its furious reaction to an attack causes the field to collapse 172.
  • Passages can connect the human realm and the Eerie World, allowing entire processions or invading forces to cross between them 441 443 607 636.
  • The Goat Eerie is identified as a powerful being’s Plane Projection and considers opening a Plane Channel to escape back to the Eerie World 510.

Possession, Transformation, and Avatars

  • Possessed paper bodies: scythe-bearing Eerie inhabit paper effigies. Destroying the shell exposes the entity within, and Wang Ying suspects the Paper Craftsman Sequence greatly amplifies the possessing Eerie’s strength and defenses 120 126 127.
  • Soul extraction: the Ancient House’s black-robed Eerie can hook ordinary people’s souls directly out of their bodies 128.
  • Doll transformation: the Little Girl Eerie turns a living opponent into a palm-sized doll with a pat. She later uses the same general ability on the severed halves of the Goat Eerie’s avatar while its defenses are compromised 214 500.
  • Evil Eye implantation: transplanted Evil Eyes grant supernatural abilities, including fire control. Their owner later overwhelms Ma Xianghong with a tide of eyes and turns her into the Evil Eye Eerie’s host 197 207.
  • Main bodies and avatars: the Goat Eerie’s true body produces much more dangerous black mist than its earlier clone, demonstrating a substantial gap between manifestations of the same entity 503.
  • Transformation through a symbiont: Yin Yubing loses control of her body, and her corpse begins cocooning for the Spider Eerie’s final transformation. The group destroys and captures it before that transformation is completed 391 392.

Corruption and Eerie Symbiosis

Eerie power can be acquired through implantation, forced fusion, or transactions, but the narrative repeatedly distinguishes such power from safe Sequence advancement.

  • Sky Base’s Symbiosis Faction attempts to capture high-level Eerie and force symbiosis to overcome its lack of knowledge about advancing from Sequence 5 to Sequence 6. Cao Xianming warns that this route ultimately corrupts the user into a new Eerie 194.
  • Yang Yong explains that stronger Eerie erode a symbiont’s humanity more severely. Xiaoju nevertheless chooses to retain her Evil Eye and remain within the Whale Lord’s restricted space rather than return to ordinary vulnerability 261 277.
  • Each use of a fused Eerie’s power advances bodily erosion. Before the terminal degeneration into writhing rotten flesh, however, combat strength can increase dramatically: a Sequence Five symbiont can approach the threshold of Sequence Four within the stated safe limit 642.
  • He Jie’s transaction sells his original body and corrupts, twists, and ultimately severs his original Sequence pathway. His borrowed Eerie abilities are suppressed by black shackles specifically effective against his altered state 604.
  • Eerie Qi also affects creatures outside deliberate symbiosis. Living sheep undergo unexplained infection and mutation on the grassland, while Hu Xian’er states that locally cultivated spirits are being eroded by Eerie aura and must either seal their cultivation or risk madness 471 645.
  • Curios forged by Yang Yong that absorb Blood Moon energy are particularly valuable to cultivated local spirits facing this erosion 645.

Observation and Information Gathering

  • The Love Letter Ghost can record more than spoken words. An unfolded letter hidden beneath a bus seat documents Wu Lijian and Ground Rat’s conversation, expressions, and visible fear 471.
  • Yang Yong can borrow the Red-Clothed Female Ghost’s sight, perceiving the surroundings through a pale blood-red veil 375.
  • Some Eerie suppress their aura sufficiently to evade Qi Peiliang until immediately before attacking, so his detection ability is valuable but not absolute 318.

Documented Eerie and Encounters

Love Letter Ghost White-clothed Rule-Type Eerie with personalized romantic illusions and weak direct combat ability 49 50. Becomes the God-Sealing Banner’s second primary soul; later incites infighting among Eerie and records conversations for surveillance 50 80 471.
Executioner Eerie Wears damaged ancient armor and carries a rusty execution blade; displays intense fascination with the furnace’s hammering 52. Clings to Yang Yong’s moving vehicle while watching the forging furnace 52.
Lamp-Under Ghost Black-robed figure beneath a streetlight that presents familiar faces and tempts victims to answer 62. Yang Yong avoids replying; the school convoy reports losing a classmate who triggered its rules 62 85.
Nurse Ghost Bandage-wrapped, doll-like body leaking black slime 70. Xiao Wei pulls it into view while trying to prove its existence, provoking horror among the witnesses 70.
Security Guard Eerie and Little Girl Eerie The guard enforces a Ghost Domain’s exit boundary; the little girl proves far stronger than her appearance suggests 73. Yang Yong attacks the entrance guard, while his two subdued ghosts barely intercept the little girl’s attack on Wang Ying 73.
Yangcheng No. 2 Middle School controller Forces students to kill one another in a survival game 80 85. A small group escapes after the controlling Eerie grows bored and offers a chance to survive 80.
Axe Gang Eerie Disciplined, axe-wielding attackers moving in formation 80. Kill two members of the school convoy and pursue the remaining four toward the Survival Convoy 80.
Cannibal Elevator Elevator that devours students escaping the school 85. Survivors flee and scatter, losing further classmates 85.
Mahjong-parlor Eerie Compels victims to play mahjong, killing losers and permitting winners to leave 86. Three of Xiao Yuxia’s classmates die at the table 86.
Nightmare Eerie Soul-hunting entity outside ordinary reality, classified by the Data Model as unknown-level 87. Targets the mentally exhausted Cao Xianming and traps his soul in its Nightmare world 87 93.
Ancient House’s black-robed Eerie Scythe-bearing entities that possess paper effigies and extract souls 120 126 128. Fight the trapped convoys in successive waves while the entrance gradually opens 127 128.
Eerie General Refined spirit within Wang Ying’s Black Gold Bone Blade, capable of manifesting and devouring other Eerie 127 129 130. Serves as the weapon’s blade spirit, strengthening it through consumption and fighting alongside Wang Ying 130 499.
Underground octopus-like Eerie Eight-armed controller connected to countless lesser Eerie and maintaining an underground field 172. An otherwise harmless golden punch enrages it, causing the underground world’s maintained field to collapse 172.
Eerie Desert water ghosts Pale, swollen figures with entrancing gazes and masses of animated black hair 180 181. Kill a survivor and attack the convoy en masse; the defenders burn their hair with supernatural fire and the Evil-Slaying Blade 181.
Ghost Mother No. 036 Eerie used by Sky Base’s ship to mask its aura from other Eerie 186. Helps conceal the vessel carrying the Survival Convoy toward Sky Base 186.
F-Rank Soul Realm Eerie Speaking Eerie encountered in a realm of wandering souls 192. Becomes terrified and submits to Yang Yong’s questioning 192.
Cloud Eerie and Evil Eye Eerie Powerful entities entangled with Sky Base; the latter manifests through implanted eyes and a human host 194 197 207. Yang Yong breaks the cloud Eerie’s restraints, unleashing a battle that devastates the base 207.
Little Girl Eerie under Yang Yong’s control Carries a rag doll and can transform targets into dolls 214 500. Supports the convoy and later disables the severed halves of the Goat Eerie’s avatar before they can self-destruct 500.
Human-Faced Owl Bat Immense aerial Eerie whose body contains a swarm of smaller bats 223. Wang Ying cuts its body apart after her breakthrough, but the swarm continues pursuing the fleeing Warship 223.
Deep-sea Eerie Vastly varied aquatic entities, including lightning-emitting eels, shark-shaped Eerie, and mass-migrating sea creatures 223 226. Their battles and migrations repeatedly threaten the Warship despite its aura disguise 223 226.
Entwined Crowd Eerie encountered inside the Whale Lord’s digestive system 282. Charges Yang Yong and Chen Gen; Chen Gen engulfs it in a blue-flame rocket explosion 282.
Cloud-covered daytime Eerie Approaches beneath dark clouds but suffers when exposed to direct sunlight 332 333. Wang Ying repeatedly splits its cloud cover with distant slashes until it flees 333.
Spider Eerie and enormous female Eerie The Spider Eerie transforms through Yin Yubing; the enormous entity regards it as her daughter 391 392. The Spider Eerie is destroyed and drawn into the furnace. The female entity becomes a giant crimson face, which a White-Bone Giant’s spatially rupturing punch destroys 392 393 395.
Tunnel procession Unseen Eerie whose passage demands silence and avoidance of sight; some mimic familiar voices 441 442. Those who make sounds vanish, leaving foul residue. Cao Xianming orders the surviving convoys to retreat 443.
Goat Eerie Plane Projection of a powerful being, with avatars and black mist substantially weaker than its main body 500 503 510. Its avatar is cut apart and transformed into dolls; the main manifestation subsequently pursues the convoy 500 503.
Blood-red invasion entities Eerie entering through a spatial channel, accompanied by a gigantic blood-red hand 636. Yang Yong absorbs numerous attackers and destroys the channel; surviving entities disperse to hunt survivors 636.
Persuasive red figure Apparently reasonable figure associated with the forces seeking to breach the world boundary 651. Yang Yong captures and burns it in the furnace; Yezi consumes the remaining drop of Eerie blood 651.
Black-mist Eerie pursuing Long Ya Drains a negotiator’s flesh and blood, traps Long Ya in mist, and taunts her before attempting to feed 696. The pendant containing Yang Yong’s furnace expands and captures both the entity and its mist 696.
Huang Pi / blood-mutated fragmented Eerie Uses battle injuries and Calamity Mist to stimulate further mutation; later claims to survive through parasitism and mutation 786 787. Its attempt to exploit Yang Yong’s attacks is exposed, and it pleads for mercy while his ring feeds 786 787.

Unconfirmed or Ambiguous Incidents

  • Route 14 Bus: the bus follows the convoy silently with its tires motionless, but Qi Peiliang detects neither an Eerie nor a living occupant. Yang Yong’s three female ghosts find nothing aboard, and Cao Xianming suggests that it may not be an Eerie 323.
  • Mechanical City’s mysterious little girl: Cao Xianming considers a soul-projection ability, a special Curio’s Artifact Spirit, and an Eerie as possible explanations. Yang Yong regards an Eerie origin as unlikely because her prolonged contact with his furnace does not trigger its automatic counterattack 549.
  • Paradise Service Area: after its exit fog separates Yang Yong and Long Ya from their companions and deposits them in a wasteland, Yang Yong concludes that the service area is alive and appears randomly around the world. The supplied account does not conclusively classify it as an Eerie 743.
  • Zhang Weifeng’s disappearance: Yang Yong finds an excessive quantity of blood and sticky residue but no Eerie qi or body. Cao Xianming cannot calculate what occurred, leaving the perpetrator unidentified 803.

Countermeasures

Avoidance and Screening

  • Do not answer Eerie or obey their instructions. These are explicit warnings issued by Cao Xianming 23.
  • Do not trust familiar voices automatically. Cao warns survivors to distrust even a voice sounding like his own; the tunnel procession later demonstrates this exact form of impersonation 19 442.
  • Follow encounter-specific precautions. Remaining silent inside their vehicles gives the convoy its best chance during the river encounter; this is not presented as a universal defense 10 11.
  • Use screening cautiously. Survivors raise their weapons before approaching a group, and Cao’s convoy checks Yang Yong for a Weirdness Mark before admitting him 1.
  • Calculate risk rather than assume safety. Cao’s ability identifies safer routes and campsites, but favorable odds can still include an encounter risk, such as the isolated house’s 10% probability 15 38.
  • Avoid eye contact when required. Against the Eerie Desert’s water ghosts, Cao orders survivors not to meet their gaze, approach the water, or leave their vehicles. Survivors cover the windows to prevent accidental visual contact 181.
  • Maintain silence and covered eyes during the tunnel procession. Survivors blindfold themselves and some gag themselves to prevent involuntary reactions; those who make sounds are killed 441 442 443.
  • Do not rely exclusively on aura detection. Qi Peiliang fails to detect a concealed underground attacker until it begins striking 318.
  • Treat sunlight as a conditional advantage. Direct sunlight twists and weakens an exposed paper-effigy Eerie, and Wang Ying drives off a daytime pursuer by cutting apart its protective clouds. These examples do not establish universal immunity to daytime attacks 120 333.
  • Aura camouflage remains useful but fallible. Ghost Mother No. 036 conceals Sky Base’s ship, a giant jellyfish masks the Warship, and Cao proposes using Yang Yong’s three female ghosts to hide the convoy’s living scent. Stronger Eerie and revealing human behavior can still compromise such disguises 186 223 226 344.
  • Avoid uncontrolled power expenditure. Shang Kai’s large supernatural energy fluctuations agitate lurking Eerie and accelerate the tightening of an encirclement 88.
  • Prepared barriers matter. Mechanical City’s electrical-arc barrier keeps Eerie outside; its disappearance allows waiting entities to invade immediately 582.

Fighting and Sealing

  • Ordinary weapons are unreliable: survivors report that bullets cannot hurt Eerie. This does not mean Eerie are universally unkillable; later artifact attacks destroy numerous weaker examples 2 33.
  • Little Golden Flood Dragon Scissors: can wound, suppress, and destroy Eerie, but their effectiveness depends on the target’s power and applicable rules 20 32 49.
  • God-Sealing Banner: seals and controls subdued ghosts, absorbs ghostly energy, and grows stronger by devouring Eerie. Capturing the Love Letter Ghost transforms it from the One-Yang into the Two-Yang God-Sealing Banner 26 32 50.
  • Time matters: Cao calculates a 98% success chance against the Love Letter Ghost before the Blood Moon rises, but warns that its arrival would instead give Yang Yong a 98% chance of being killed 49 50.
  • Black Gold Bone Blade: its aura frightens most low-tier Eerie into flight. Its attacks can damage spiritual bodies and rules, and its blade spirit can pass through paper beasts’ shells to strike the possessing Eerie directly 89 90 130.
  • Holy Light: is particularly effective against the cleaver-wielding Eerie that resists fireballs and arrows, forcing it to retreat while smoking 103.
  • Evil-Slaying Blade: produces supernatural fire effective against Eerie bodies and animated hair. Its flames continue burning the water ghosts’ hair underwater, and later burn attacking Eerie to ash in Mechanical City 181 582.
  • Forged weapons for ordinary survivors: even a single forging gives an iron spoon power to harm Eerie. Bone Daggers subsequently allow ordinary people to wound otherwise intangible black shadows, although this does not make them safe against stronger supernatural attacks 147 352 353.
  • Ten-Thousand-Forged Primordial Furnace: captures and refines lesser Eerie directly. It later captures both an Eerie and its enclosing black mist while acting through Long Ya’s pendant 167 696.
  • Anti-intangibility restraints: Climbing Vine manifests a faint white light that forces an Eerie out of its incorporeal state, binds it, and enables the furnace to absorb it 704.
  • Exploit incomplete transformations: Yang Yong and his allies destroy the Spider Eerie before its final transformation is finished rather than allowing it to reach a more dangerous state 392.
  • Destroying an invasion channel does not remove every invader. The Great Chaos Warship shatters a spatial passage, but surviving Eerie escape elsewhere to hunt 636.
  • Some suppressive equipment specifically counters Eerie-derived power. Black shackles seal He Jie’s borrowed abilities even though they would not necessarily suppress ordinary Sequence Transcendence as effectively 604.

Refining Eerie as Resources

Eerie bodies, spirits, and implements can become materials for Curios and other supernatural equipment rather than serving only as enemies to destroy.

  • The One-Yang God-Sealing Banner is created using refined Eerie, Wang Ying’s blade incorporates an Eerie General, and the original Little Golden Flood Dragon Scissors were an implement used by Eerie 129.
  • Yang Yong forges Hu Xian’er’s Soul-Binding Fan from Eerie hair, bones, and other remains gathered in a Ghost Domain 151.
  • Eerie remains also contribute to the Buddha-Light Jewel forged with Xiao Xuan’s Buddha Light and blood 264.
