Description
Ji Tan dies suddenly from overwork and transmigrates into the AI-written impostor novel his unscrupulous boss ordered him to study. The moment he opens his eyes, his husband in name only is about to send him into an operating room to have his heart and lungs "dug out."
Fighting back gets him nowhere. Trying to explain the law proves equally useless. At the critical moment, he spots the man responsible for everything in the crowd-his unscrupulous boss. The bastard actually pretends not to recognize him, standing there with his hands tucked away, enjoying the show.
Overwhelmed by grief and outrage, Ji Tan whips out the proposal soaked in an office drone's blood, sweat, and tears and loudly accuses him: "For you, I wiped away tears all day and sobbed all night! I worked without sleep or rest, suffered every imaginable hardship, and finally even lost my life! And you're just going to stand there and watch them bully me?"
Wait-
Every gaze turns toward City A's newly appointed governor-the unscrupulous boss who, in Ji Tan's eyes, merely looks respectable in his fancy clothes.
The governor: "Did any of that actually happen between us?"
The husband in name only: "What's going on between you two?!"
City A is a place of treacherous undercurrents, where supernatural powers exist amid absurdity and disorder, and humans can gain extraordinary abilities while remaining both lucid and insane. To survive in this unhinged world crawling with domineering CEOs, privileged heirs, saintly Buddhist heartthrobs, and unattainable first loves, Ji Tan has no choice but to learn to pretend. Pretend to be "normal." Pretend to be "sleeping with the governor." Pretend to be... a god.
A genuinely unhinged, supposedly unscrupulous boss: a governor with a thousand faces and an unrivaled flair for showing off (top)
×
A supposedly honest man: an elite-level snarker who goes from fake god to the real thing (bottom)
Look at domineering-CEO romance through a Lovecraftian lens, and suddenly all that madness has an explanation. (Not really.)
Reading Guide:
① The "husband in name only" mentioned above has no romantic entanglement with the bottom. They are purely enemies.
② Everyone in City A has rational motives for their behavior. They aren't actually mindless NPCs from a brain-dead CEO romance.
③ A hilariously ridiculous comedy featuring cross-talk routines, comedy sketches, magic tricks, and acrobatics (with supernatural powers)-all to give you a laugh.
Theme: Only the brave can see the truth.
