Background / History

Batman’s investigation found that Bruce Yu had been adopted by kindergarten teachers, whose adoptive parents later died in a robbery. Unlike Bruce Wayne, he had no Alfred-like guardian and lived as an isolated, withdrawn young man in Gotham. 172

Before gaining his powers, Bruce was thin, disheveled, weary, and habitually fearful. He nevertheless intervened when thugs assaulted an elderly Korean man, only to become surrounded himself. 168

His Synchronization Ability activated during the confrontation. Initially receiving only combat instincts and abilities, he defeated the thugs with instinctive precision; he then received the memories of four alternate Fang Yus and learned that he was living in Gotham. 169

Bruce quickly became a subject of Batman’s surveillance. Batman considered him a potential future threat, while Bruce insisted that he wanted to survive and protect Earth. 172 187

Appearance

Bruce Yu is a young East Asian man with a comparatively thin build, messy black hair, and eyes often described as tired or downcast before his synchronization. Batman notes that he otherwise has an ordinary, “Sasuke-like” face. 168 172

  • His Sharingan appears as a golden, hook-shaped pattern in his eyes. 242 243
  • His Ghoul Curse Mark produces black patterns over his face and arms. 244
  • The Green Lantern Ring restores severe injuries with green energy and transforms his eyes into spinning Green Lantern symbols during its initial activation. 301
  • His later ocular state combines the Jōgan and Pure Rinne Sharingan. 665

Personality

Bruce begins as cowardly and prone to regret after impulsive actions, having been raised to believe that “impulse is the devil.” After synchronization, he becomes far more confident, confrontational, and willing to use violence against Gotham’s criminals. 169

He is driven primarily by survival and Earth’s protection, but his methods are often ruthless, intimidating, and deliberately theatrical. He humiliates opponents, exploits their fears, and uses his overwhelming strength to force cooperation. 187 242 676

Bruce is also highly determined under extreme pressure. He voluntarily endures Red Death Batman’s torture for a chance to obtain a Green Lantern Ring, later enduring it for a month without breaking. 298 300

Abilities & Skills

Synchronization Ability

Bruce can synchronize abilities and memories with alternate Fang Yus across other worlds.

  • Initially grants combat abilities before the accompanying memories. 169
  • Connects him with Uchiha Yu, Stephen Fang Yu, Pirate World Fang Yu, and Main God Fang Yu. 169
  • Allows him to benefit from the accumulated training and newly awakened abilities of his counterparts, even when time has passed differently in their worlds. 665
  • Cannot directly synchronize the Green Lantern Ring itself, because the ring is an item rather than an innate ability. 302

Genetic Lock and Physical Enhancement

Bruce possesses progressively stronger Genetic Lock states and can combine them with several physical power systems.

  • His initial synchronization grants a Genetic Lock and instinctive combat responses. 169
  • Uses the Eight Gates Formation, Ghoul Curse Mark, and Armored Susanoo alongside his Genetic Lock. 244
  • Unlocks the Fourth-Stage Genetic Lock’s “Minute Control” during his fight against Darkseid’s forces. 670
  • His enhanced strength lets him flip cars, evade bullets, defeat Arkham inmates, and launch Superman through a super-alloy wall with one kick. 187 664

Haki and Sensory Perception

Bruce uses multiple perception systems to read opponents and evade attacks beyond normal reaction speed.

  • Observation Haki lets him anticipate attacks and identify concealed armed opponents. 169 242
  • Combines Observation Haki with the Mangekyō Sharingan to predict Superman’s attack trajectories. 244
  • Later combines Mantra, top-tier Observation Haki, and the Jōgan to perceive intent, movement, and energy transfer with exceptional precision. 665
  • Has used Conqueror’s Haki to incapacitate Two-Face and the Riddler instantly. 187
  • Can employ Armament Haki as part of his enhanced combat state. 244

Sharingan and Genjutsu

Bruce inherited Uchiha-derived ocular abilities that provide perception, illusion, and mental domination.

  • Uses Sharingan perception to expose a gang’s fake Kryptonite transaction and detect hidden gunmen. 242
  • Escapes Superman by creating a phantom and using his Ukaku to flee. 243
  • Uses Sharingan genjutsu to force Superman to relive traumatic memories and escape their first confrontation. 244
  • His Pure Rinne Sharingan traps the resurrected Superman in a nightmare loop, rendering him unconscious. 665

Mobility and Spatial Techniques

Bruce has exceptional aerial, teleportation, and dimensional mobility.

  • Uses Ukaku to fly and evade Superman in Gotham. 243
  • Uses Flying Thunder God seals to teleport between marked locations around Earth. 252
  • Intends to extend his seal network throughout the universe as a survival measure. 252
  • Creates wormholes through the Green Lantern Ring and later opens unstable spatial rifts through combined Six Paths power, magic, runes, and teleportation coordinates. 302 676

Wood Release and Elemental Techniques

Bruce can manifest large-scale natural and elemental attacks.

  • Wood Release: Deep Forest Emergence creates a rapidly expanding forest capable of overwhelming Poison Ivy and multiple Gotham criminals. 338
  • Sage Art: Wood Release: True Several Thousand Hands summons a mountain-sized Thousand-Hand Buddha with colossal wooden arms. 368
  • Creates a massive water dragon to force Aquaman to emerge from the sea. 369
  • Synchronizes Fire Release: Earth Grudge Fear, increasing his confidence against Darkseid. 438

Green Lantern Ring

Bruce was chosen by a Green Lantern Ring after surviving Red Death Batman’s torture.

  • The ring restores his body from catastrophic injuries and transports him to Oa. 301
  • Its constructs are powered by willpower and imagination. 301
  • Bruce manifests an RPG rocket launcher, using it to pass his Corps test. 301 302
  • Can generate wormholes and supply energy to a Boom Tube Bomb. 302 307
  • The ring remains a separate item and cannot be fully shared through synchronization. 302

Force and Energy Techniques

Bruce has access to direct-force and energy-projection techniques.

  • Uses Almighty Push to hurl Superman through a building. 665
  • Uses Dodon Ray to counter Superman’s heat vision. 665
  • Can stop Superman’s full-force punch with one hand. 665
  • Under extreme strain, unleashes a space-collapsing kick that annihilates five Dark Elites, severely injures Kalibak, and pierces Darkseid’s main ship. 671
