History
Konoha Year 55 is marked by escalating tension between the village leadership and the Uchiha clan. Uchiha Yu, an Uchiha Academy student, is punished for questioning the Will of Fire and expects the clan’s destruction within ten months. 1
The Uchiha clan’s resentment toward Konoha culminates in plans for rebellion. Clan members accuse the Hokage’s administration of marginalizing them, while Itachi Uchiha warns Hiruzen Sarutobi that the clan is considering either seizing the Hokage or destroying the village. Danzō Shimura advocates exterminating the clan, though Hiruzen, Koharu, and Homura reject the proposal at that time. 189
Root’s covert actions further destabilize the village. Uchiha Yu and Tsunade report that Root personnel ambushed them with foreign ninja assistance; the captured Aburame Torune dies during interrogation, apparently due to a Root curse seal. 190 The Uchiha massacre follows, with Itachi and a masked Obito attacking the clan compound while Anbu and Root operatives kill fleeing survivors. 192
Afterward, the Land of Fire Daimyo publicly releases allegations that Konoha conducted human experimentation on ninja and discarded entire clans after use. The announcement causes panic, anger, and a severe loss of public trust in the village leadership. 217 Root and Sarutobi-aligned ninja later attack Uchiha Yu and Sasuke at Konoha’s gate; Yu defeats the forty-six attackers. 218 221
