Sheng Nian blinked his damp eyes, a little bewildered by the situation.
He glanced at Yan Feizhuo. Some small-animal instinct inexplicably made him feel that Yan Feizhuo seemed a little sad.
"Yan Feizhuo, I'm sorry."
Having just cried, Sheng Nian sounded hoarse, but his voice was especially clear in the quiet cabin.
"Why are you apologizing?"
Sheng Nian shook his head. "I don't know, but you seem unhappy."
Yan Feizhuo was a little amused. "You apologize just because I'm unhappy? Shouldn't you cheer me up if I'm unhappy? What's an apology supposed to do?"
"Then what would make you happy?"
Yan Feizhuo stared at his rose-petal lips. "What do you think would make me happy, Sheng Nian?"
"Don't call me that..."
No one outside his family had ever called Sheng Nian by that pet name, and he felt a little embarrassed.
"You still haven't told me how you're going to cheer me up, Sheng Nian."
Sheng Nian was full of questions. How had this turned into him having to cheer Yan Feizhuo up? Wasn't this development a little off?
"That's a trick question. I refuse to answer!"
Seeing that he had recovered emotionally, Yan Feizhuo stopped teasing him and sat down beside him, though he placed his hand possessively behind his waist. "Clever for once."
"Hmph!" Feeling that he had been insulted, Sheng Nian gave a loud huff to express his anger and decided to ignore Yan Feizhuo, that lackey with a twisted sense of humor, for the rest of the ride.
Yan Feizhuo didn't mind and quietly kept him company. A lot had happened today, and the young master had been acting and going on rides. He must have been tired long ago, so this was a good chance to rest.
Sheng Nian was indeed a little tired. He yawned and leaned lazily against the cabin wall, resting with his eyes closed.
The second half of the Ferris Wheel ride passed quietly like that.
Sheng Nian and Yan Feizhuo went to the Ferris Wheel entrance to find a staff member and turn in their task.
The staff could watch the livestream in real time, so they knew how the two had performed on the Ferris Wheel.
The staff member said, "Task completed! Congratulations to Yan Feizhuo and Sheng Nian's team on earning three Heart-Pounding Badges. Once you've completed a check-in activity, you can't earn Heart-Pounding Badges from it again~"
They had only come to do this task to kill time anyway, so Sheng Nian didn't care how many Heart-Pounding Badges they had earned. Once the staff member finished the announcement, he set off for the meeting point, ready to return to the Manor Villa with everyone.
Seeing that the young master was still ignoring him and simply walking toward the Hovercar with his head down, Yan Feizhuo couldn't help chuckling.
"Young master?"
Sheng Nian stopped at his call and huffed before saying fiercely, "What?"
Yan Feizhuo took an exquisitely crafted Nuo Opera Mask from the assistant behind him. "Want an apology gift?"
Sheng Nian's eyes lit up the moment he saw the mask. "How did you buy it? When I asked, they refused to sell it no matter what. They said it was what they earned their living with."
"Oh, it's gorgeous, so sinister and majestic! I'm going to hang it in my collection room."
Having received an "apology gift" he loved, Sheng Nian completely forgot about ignoring Yan Feizhuo and went back to buzzing around him like a little bee.
Something occurred to him, and Sheng Nian's excited expression suddenly faded.
He leaned close to Yan Feizhuo, covered his headset microphone, and said very quietly, "Yan Feizhuo, remember to pull me away on the Hovercar later. I'm so tired today. I don't want to act anymore."
It was rare for the drama-loving young master to say he was tired of acting. Yan Feizhuo chuckled and copied him, lowering his head to whisper, "All right."
They soon reached the parking area. Everyone else had arrived and was just waiting for the two of them.
"All right, now that everyone's here, let's get on and head back to the Manor Villa. Director Ren and the others are already waiting."
The eleven guests boarded the Hovercar one after another.
Following what Sheng Nian had told him earlier, Yan Feizhuo took his hand and firmly led him away when he looked longingly toward Jiang Shu.
After a whole day of tasks, everyone was tired, and there wasn't much conversation on the Hovercar.
Sheng Nian was no exception. Once he sat down, he reclined his seat and closed his eyes to rest.
Seeing that he seemed to have fallen asleep, Yan Feizhuo even asked the Production Team for a small blanket to cover him.
The Hovercar soon brought them back to the Manor Villa.
The eleven guests returned to their rooms to change before gathering in the small garden.
A long table had already been set up there, covered with steaming dishes. The Production Team's director and staff were directly opposite the table, preparing to film.
Director Ren had the guests take their seats in turn.
"After a full day of fun, you must all be hungry. Let's go over tomorrow's itinerary while we eat."
At his words, everyone dispensed with formalities, picked up their bowls and chopsticks, and started eating.
"Hmm? This is actually pretty good. The Production Team hasn't shortchanged us."
Yan Feizhuo ladled him a bowl of soup. "This should be from the manor's kitchen. The chefs there are all five-star chefs. Have some more if you like it."
"We should have plenty more chances to eat at the manor during filming. If there's anything you want to eat, just tell the butler and have him arrange it."
Sheng Nian glanced at him. "You live so extravagantly."
Only when they had nearly finished eating did Director Ren start discussing the arrangements for tomorrow.
"Did everyone have fun at Evernight Sky today?"
As the mood-maker, Mo Yuanyuan was the first to respond. "It was fun! It would've been even better if the check-in tasks you set hadn't been so bizarre, Director Ren!"
"Hahahaha, that won't do. Our Production Team is famous for tormenting its guests."
Several guests rolled their eyes in unison.
Director Ren ignored their disdain. "You all did pretty well on your tasks today. That just shows how reasonable the tasks our Production Team arranged were."
Receiving glares from Sheng Nian and several others, Director Ren cleared his throat. "All right, enough joking. Let's talk about the upcoming tasks."
Seeing that he was getting down to business, the guests began listening attentively.
Holding a sheet of paper, Director Ren said, "First, let's announce today's top three badge totals."
"Mo Yuanyuan and Qi Xiao's team earned twenty-eight Heart-Pounding Badges, placing third. Ye Heng earned twenty-nine Matchmaker Badges, placing second. Oh! Tang Jiang earned thirty-two Matchmaker Badges, placing first."
"Looks like our solo participants are going strong. Those of you in pairs will have to work harder."
The four guests in the top three were all speechless. By announcing only the top three badge totals, wasn't he making them targets for everyone else? Tomorrow's tasks looked like they would be difficult.
"All right, that's it for the top three. Let's talk about tomorrow's arrangements."
Director Ren smiled broadly, looking like he was up to no good.
"Today, all the activities were on land, but what Evernight Sky is actually most famous for is its water park~ So tomorrow's tasks will take place at the Sea Amusement Park on Evernight Sky's eastern side."
"For tomorrow's tasks, you won't be free to move around as you please. Instead, the Production Team will make the arrangements. The specific tasks are confidential for now. Please be prepared, get a good night's rest, and welcome tomorrow's new heart-pounding challenges!"
A chill ran down Sheng Nian's back as he listened. Knowing the Production Team's usual ways, they were definitely up to no good.
"All right, that's a wrap for today. Dismissed!"
Each with their own thoughts, everyone returned to their rooms to wash up and go to bed, ready to face the new challenges.
