With a chuckle, Yu Ziyu shed the pressure weighing on his heart and regained some of his true nature.

Turning his gaze, Yu Ziyu looked again at the black bison with crescent-moon bull horns not far away.

This fellow had good talent and was worth giving a name.

With that thought, Yu Ziyu began pondering.

But even after thinking for quite a while, Yu Ziyu could not make up his mind.

He wanted to give this bison a name no less impressive than "Nine-Tails," but no matter how he thought about it, he could not find a suitable one.

"How about Bull Demon King?"

Amid his hesitation, Yu Ziyu thought of a very famous great demon.

But on second thought, the name sounded a little strange.

"Drop the 'King' and just call him Bull Demon."

After pondering for a moment, Yu Ziyu made his decision.

Bull Demon, Bull Demon...

The name held Yu Ziyu's hopes for him, and it sounded much better than "Bull Demon King." At least it was not so awkward.

With that thought, Yu Ziyu beckoned with a branch, summoning the bison.

"Moo..."

With a moo, the black bison walked toward Yu Ziyu, swaying his head.

"Let me carve two characters on you."

A mischievous urge rose in his heart. Yu Ziyu turned a branch into a sword and lightly touched it to the black bison's crescent-moon bull horns.

Every stroke was strong and forceful.

He had to admit that, after going so long without writing, he found it a little difficult.

But that did not affect the beauty of his work.

Looking up, he saw that the tips of the black bison's two crescent-moon bull horns now each bore a flamboyantly written character.

One for "Bull," and one for "Demon."

They were even in traditional script, exuding an indescribable presence at a glance.

"That looks pretty good."

Smiling as he looked at the characters on the horns, Yu Ziyu felt rather satisfied.

If those humans discovered the characters on his horns in the future, they would surely come up with all sorts of far-fetched ideas.

With that hope, Yu Ziyu even felt inclined to leave his mark on the other mutated beasts.

But after looking around, he found that, apart from the black bison, few of the other mutated beasts had a convenient place for a mark.

For instance, although he could carve characters into Nine-Tails' sharp claws, they would be hard to spot, making it difficult to satisfy Yu Ziyu's little mischievous urge.

Did this count as a little revenge against humanity?

After thinking it over, Yu Ziyu turned his gaze back to the horns, rather pleased with his masterpiece.

Those humans had left him frightened and anxious for days. Surely it would not do to let that pass without a little revenge.

As for why carving characters into the horns could serve as a form of revenge, that was not hard to understand.

In the future, once this black bison became exceptionally powerful, Yu Ziyu would send him out to wander around.

When the time came, humans would discover the characters on his horns.

They might not be frightened, but they would certainly do plenty of speculating.

For example, were mutated beasts learning human culture? Or could this mutant bison be the pet of some powerful human?

Whatever they guessed, it would be enough to give them a headache for a while.

After all, humans!

They were the most suspicious of all.

White mist rose throughout the forest. Like a living thing, it spread close to the ground in its own peculiar flowing fashion.

From afar, it looked like an enormous beast of mist devouring everything.

And within that mist-filled forest-

Whoosh!

A streak of red light shot into the distance like an arrow loosed from a bow.

Then, as though it had discovered something, the streak paused briefly before changing direction and rushing off another way.

Before long, a lakeshore came into its view.

The lake was small, but its waters were exceptionally clear.

Especially now, with wisps of mist drifting gently over the lakeshore like a thin veil, it seemed all the more mysterious.

At that moment, the streak of red light that had reached the lake slowly revealed its form.

A body the size of a calf, with deep-red yet vividly colored fur.

And behind it, a tail that swayed now and then like a crimson flame, trailing loosely and softly along the ground.

Nine-Tails,

A terrifying mutated beast under Yu Ziyu's command.

With its strength, it could easily rule a forest.

And now, this overlord-level Nine-Tails stood beside the rocky bank not far away, its fiery-red eyes fixed on the edge of the lake,

Where a porcupine was drinking.

It licked the corner of its mouth with a hint of allure.

Nine-Tails suddenly moved, its soft fur dancing in the wind as it turned into a streak of red light once more.

With a boom,

There was no whimper, nor any scream.

There was only the porcupine drinking water, its head slammed into the edge of the lake by a sharp claw that had appeared from nowhere.

Splash!

Water splashed everywhere, soaring thirty feet into the air.

Yet just as the spray was about to reach Nine-Tails and soak its fur,

Its gaze suddenly sharpened again, and a brilliant radiance surged through its gorgeous, flame-like eyes.

With a crack, time seemed to freeze.

The spray filling the air seemed frozen in place as well.

Taking advantage of that moment, Nine-Tails effortlessly caught the enormous porcupine in its jaws and charged into the depths of the mountains.

It moved even faster than it had on its way here.

Before long, Nine-Tails slowed slightly at the entrance to a canyon.

It raised its head, seemingly to keep the porcupine from touching the ground again.

Still, it had to be said that Nine-Tails, with its graceful figure and well-proportioned limbs, walked with an indescribable elegance even while carrying prey almost as large as itself in its mouth, as though it were the very embodiment of nobility.

Just then, Nine-Tails' two proudly upright ears twitched slightly, as though it had noticed something...

Tilting its head a little, Nine-Tails saw several blue giant wolves, their bodies unlike those of ordinary beasts, walking toward the Canyon through the dense forest with prey in their mouths.

"Well, well, everyone's back?"

Deep within the Canyon, Yu Ziyu could not help laughing at the sight.

As carnivores, Nine-Tails and the Wind Wolves naturally could not fill their bellies with grass like Bull Demon, the bison.

For them, hunting beasts was a necessity.

In view of this, Yu Ziyu had also hinted that these fellows should bring their prey back to eat.

As for the reason, it naturally went without saying.

At that thought, Yu Ziyu willed something into motion.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh...

Five successive whistles cut through the air as branches grew into the wind, transforming in an instant into five sharp swords reaching toward the sky.

Rip, rip...

Before there was time to react, the prey still clinging to life in the mouths of the four Wind Wolves and Nine-Tails had all perished.

Ding, you have killed an Entry-Level Level 2 Mutant Porcupine. Evolution Points +20. Ding, you have killed an Entry-Level Level 1 Mutant Hare. Evolution Points +10.

Crisp system notifications rang out beside Yu Ziyu's ears, making his smile deepen.
