Perfect.
Truly perfect.
Raising his gaze, Yu Ziyu looked at Nine-Tails and the Wind Wolves, who had already begun eating at the Canyon entrance, then at the extra 60 Evolution Points he had gained. He felt he could not have made a wiser decision.
He only needed these fellows to avoid killing their prey immediately when hunting and bring it back instead, and his need for Evolution Points would be met.
He had to admit, this idea really was wise.
By now, thanks to this decision, Yu Ziyu had already gained 120 Evolution Points from these pets. Added to what he had left, his Evolution Points had reached 172 again.
Something worth mentioning here was that he did not know whether it had to do with the progress of the Spiritual Energy Revival.
There were more and more Mutated Beasts, and even the prey they casually hunted had more or less reached Entry-Level Level 1.
Of course, they certainly could not compare with the beasts living around Yu Ziyu, the willow tree.
In just these few days, even the White Crane, who put on such aloof airs, had reached Entry-Level Level 2 by drinking from the little Spirit Lake Yu Ziyu had personally created.
Not to mention that clever little Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey. Besides drinking water from the little Spirit Lake, he even picked up leaves that had fallen from Yu Ziyu's main body and swallowed them in one gulp.
As a result, he had already reached the third tier of the entry level.
He had also awakened a very good innate talent-Extreme Absorption.
Compared with ordinary Mutated Beasts, his body could absorb beneficial substances to a much greater extent, allowing its strength to increase continuously.
In other words, as time passed, the Golden Monkey's body would become increasingly hard without changing in size, until one day he truly possessed "bronze skin and iron bones," an indestructible body...
Of course, that was the most ideal outcome.
Overall, though, Extreme Absorption was a very good innate talent, not much weaker than his Super-Speed Regeneration.
In fact, from a certain perspective, the Golden Monkey's innate talent was more advantageous in combat.
Still, what suited one best was the strongest.
Compared with this innate talent, Extreme Absorption, Yu Ziyu still preferred his Super Regeneration.
With this talent, Yu Ziyu could freely extend his branches and even make his underground roots spread faster.
At that moment, he raised his viewpoint again and looked at Nine-Tails, whose flame-colored fur stood out as she crouched at the Canyon entrance. Yu Ziyu could not help chuckling.
Nine-Tails sat on her hind legs with her ears upright. Although blood seeped from her mouth, she did not look particularly ferocious.
Instead, she possessed a kind of bloody beauty.
In contrast, the Wind Wolves ate in great mouthfuls. This was surely what it meant to wolf down food. Every so often, they raised their gleaming green eyes and surveyed their surroundings warily.
Without comparison, there was no hurt.
With that comparison, the Wind Wolves naturally looked far more undignified as they ate.
When I have time later, I'll try letting these fellows eat cooked food, or teach them to dine gracefully.
After some thought, this idea rose in Yu Ziyu's mind.
As Mutated Beasts under his command, they naturally could not keep eating raw flesh and drinking blood as they had before.
As they grew stronger, their intelligence would increase accordingly.
But Yu Ziyu did not want their intelligence to be used solely for combat.
Only through variety could their intelligence be developed to a greater extent.
And certain human customs and cultural practices could do a great deal to develop their intelligence.
Here, too, a considerable ambition of Yu Ziyu's was revealed.
As a Tree Demon, his hope of coexisting with humans was far too slim.
Those not of our kind must be of a different mind.
That saying was not merely empty words.
And Yu Ziyu, who knew humanity's bloody history of development well, especially a certain period of colonial history, understood all too deeply how terrifying this race was...
Could you expect a race that could raise a butcher's blade against its own kind without hesitation to willingly coexist with other kinds?
Even if someone was willing, faced with the majority's decision, he could only follow the prevailing tide.
Besides, putting yourself in their position, as a race standing at the pinnacle of nature, would you want other races to threaten your position?
Whether you were a compassionate holy monk or a butcher who had killed countless people, you would not hesitate at a time like this.
Because this was not a matter concerning you alone, but millions of your kind.
Mercy at such a time would only push the human race into a pit of fire.
Thus, Yu Ziyu also understood that he was not the only one without a choice. Even those humans would not have many choices.
Between races, there was no right or wrong.
There was only the eternal struggle of "you are strong, I am weak."
Unless... one day, Yu Ziyu became so powerful that humans feared him at the very sight of him, he could never have a say.
This was what it meant to say, "If you are strong enough, the world will treat you gently."
If you wanted others to treat you gently, you had to be strong enough-so strong that they trembled in fear.
And before he became strong, what could he do?
Wait?
No.
Absolutely not.
Yu Ziyu was not someone good at waiting.
And before he became strong, what he needed to do was band together with others for warmth.
Just like humans: insignificant individuals could be slaughtered at will by Mutated Beasts, but when they banded together, they were the most terrifying race in this world.
Grains of sand could form a tower; scraps of fur could make a coat...
Yu Ziyu's thinking was much the same.
He would use his own abilities to build an empire belonging to him alone.
That way, even if humans discovered his existence, their various concerns would make them truly hesitate...
At worst, he would start a war between races, using vast Beast Tides to draw humanity's attention, while Yu Ziyu could hide behind the scenes...
Here, it had to be said that Yu Ziyu was somewhat selfish.
But for someone living a second life, selfishness was necessary.
Every man for himself, or heaven and earth would destroy him.
That was something humans had told him.
He was not so noble that he would sacrifice himself for the sake of others.
Ultimately, Yu Ziyu was merely a lucky fellow who had been reborn as a tree.
And now, he was only fighting to survive.
Of course, if humans did not push him too hard, the situation would not develop to the point of no return.
At least, deep down, Yu Ziyu did not mind coexisting with humans.
Provided that humans bore him no ill will.
After thinking through so much, Yu Ziyu's thoughts became increasingly clear.
While strengthening himself, he would nurture many Mutated Beasts.
One point worth mentioning was that some Mutated Beasts did not need to be nurtured in large numbers.
For races like Bull Demon's and the Wind Wolves, he only needed to nurture them into the strongest, and they could compete for leadership within their own races.
That way, Yu Ziyu could gain a herd of cattle or a pack of wolves without paying too great a price.
Between races, there was no right or wrong.
