"Yes!"
Ryan's voice rang out in the gradually darkening control room.
He immediately turned around and refocused his attention on the various instrument panels before him.
His thick fingers slowly worked the control valves, adjusting the Fearless's angle of descent.
Bakel also dropped his usual cheeky grin, bracing both hands on the nearby railing as he warily watched the dark blue seawater outside begin to grow thick.
The Fearless continued descending into the deep sea. All light around it vanished, and the drastic changes in air and water pressure made everyone keenly feel the oppression and danger of the depths.
"That sound really gives me the creeps. It's like this ship could get crushed flat at any moment."
Bakel rubbed his slightly reddened ears and muttered under his breath.
"It's normal compression from the water pressure, idiot."
Ryan retorted loudly without looking back, his eyes fixed on the screen.
"We've already descended nearly three thousand meters. The pressure outside is no joke."
"Of course I know it's the water pressure, but this feeling of slowly sinking really isn't pleasant."
Bakel sighed and rolled his somewhat stiff shoulders.
"If you're scared, you can swim back to the Sabaody Archipelago right now. Though I bet you'd be squashed into a meat patty before you even reached the surface."
Ryan sneered mockingly.
"Don't look down on me. My Iron Body can even stop cannon fire. Why would I be afraid of a little water pressure?"
Bakel slapped his chest indignantly and shouted.
"Then go out and try it right now. I can open the hatch for you anytime and let you get up close and personal with the seawater outside."
Ryan sneered without turning around.
"Enough, you two. You argue whenever you have a spare moment. Can't you be quiet for a while?"
