Speedrunning Warship Island

While the warship turned around to search for Apis.

A small boat appeared near the Going Merry, with a little girl sleeping aboard.

While surveying their surroundings through a telescope from the lookout, Usopp spotted Apis sleeping in the small boat not far away and hurriedly shouted to Luffy, "Luffy, there's a small boat just ahead of us! There's a little girl aboard. She might be a shipwreck survivor."

Luffy jumped up to the lookout at his words, took Usopp's telescope, and had a look. "There really is someone there. Leave it to me."

"Gum-Gum Grab!"

With a whoosh, Luffy stretched his arm out, grabbed Apis's clothes, and quickly retracted it. In no time, he had hauled Apis onto the Going Merry.

"Hey, little girl, wake up." Nami gently shook her as she spoke.

Shaken awake by Nami, Apis opened her eyes, looked around, and said groggily, "Where am I? Have I been caught again?"

Apis came to her senses in an instant. She looked around at the unfamiliar faces of Luffy and the others, then spotted the pirate flag flying high on the mast and jumped up in fright!

"Ah! I've been captured by pirates! Why am I so unlucky? I just escaped from a warship, and now pirates have caught me." Apis spoke sadly.

"Were you shipwrecked? Why were you all alone in a little boat out at sea?" Nami asked with concern.

"I live on a nearby island. Marine Admiral Nelson Royale read about the legend of an elixir of immortality in a book, and I have the ability to talk to animals. Somehow, Nelson found out, so they captured me and wanted me to help them find a Millennium Dragon. I snuck away yesterday afternoon," Apis said.

"A little girl being hunted by someone as important as an admiral? Honestly, I can hardly believe it." Sanji took a drag on his cigarette, finding it hard to believe.

Just then, the warship that had turned back to search for Apis found Luffy and the others.

Looking at the small sailing ship before him, the mercenary Erik was brimming with confidence and declared arrogantly, "Pirates over there, hand over that little girl aboard your ship, or we'll wipe you all out."

"Oh? Aren't you full of yourself? You think we'll hand her over just because you say so? I've got my pride, you know," Sanji said disdainfully.

"Why waste words? Go over there and take her," the Marine admiral ordered.

Everyone began jumping toward the Going Merry.

Seeing them leap over, Luffy and the others attacked without hesitation.

After a series of blows and splashes, every Marine and mercenary had been knocked into the sea, leaving only the thousand-jin fatso, Admiral Nelson. Then Liu Qing struck the warship with a Monster Strength: Sky-Piercing Kick, shattering the Marine warship outright and sending Nelson into the sea as well.

A day later, at dinnertime, in Apis's home.

Luffy and the others were wolfing down food at the table. Once they had eaten and drunk their fill, they went straight back to their rooms to rest.

In the latter half of the night, Apis quietly got out of bed, secretly took a basket of fruit, and carefully headed off in one direction.

Luffy and the others noticed what was happening, so they all secretly followed her.

Before long, they followed Apis into a cave.

When they entered the cave and saw Apis tossing food to an enormous creature, they were left gaping in shock!

After apologizing to Apis, Luffy stared into Grandpa Dragon's eyes and smacked his right fist into his palm. "I see! Tomorrow's when your companions come back, huh? Are you waiting for them to return? Don't worry. I won't let anyone hurt you."

Everyone sat down cross-legged and rested there with Grandpa Dragon.

Time slowly passed, and soon morning arrived. The sky had brightened just enough for them to barely make out things in the distance.

Just then, Liu Qing suddenly sensed more than twenty ships out at sea. He turned to Luffy and the others. "Someone's coming to cause trouble, and there are quite a few of them. More than twenty ships are heading toward this island at full speed."

At his words, everyone rose and headed down the mountain, rubbing their hands in anticipation. Luffy looked at Grandpa Dragon and said, "Just wait here and don't worry. We'll stop them."

Aboard a warship, Erik looked at the Straw Hat Pirates standing at Warship Island's harbor and said to Admiral Nelson beside him, "Looks like I was right. Apis brought the Straw Hat Pirates to Warship Island. Perfect. We can catch them all here in one sweep. Admiral, these are the Straw Hat Pirates, a notoriously vicious pirate crew. Give the order to sink their ship first, then capture them!"

"The Straw Hat Pirates? This is going to be difficult. Last time, we attacked without taking a good look at their pirate flag. They have Liu Qing, who can fight a Shichibukai. How could we possibly beat them?" Nelson said.

"Sir, however strong he is, he can't do anything to us without a ship. Let's attack their pirate ship directly, then take our time dealing with him," Erik suggested.

Nelson thought for a moment, then turned and gave the order. "All hands, prepare to fire! Aim at the Straw Hat Pirates' ship!"

"Yes, Admiral!"

The guns on the twenty-odd large ships immediately targeted the Going Merry, and the sound of cannon fire rang out nonstop.

Luffy flew into a rage at the sight of the cannonballs attacking the Going Merry. He leaped into the air and used Gum-Gum Balloon to block some of them, but there were simply too many. Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji could not stop them all.

Seeing several cannonballs about to hit the Going Merry, Liu Qing finally made his move.

"Wood Release: Super-Sized Wood Locking Wall!" An enormous wooden barrier shielded the entire Going Merry. Liu Qing said to Luffy, "Let's go fight aboard their warships. Don't worry about things here. Their cannonballs can't break through this protection."

With that, Liu Qing used the Body Flicker Technique to appear aboard a warship. Zoro was just about to ask Luffy how they were supposed to get across when he saw Luffy poised like a slingshot, his arms already stretched to their limit.

With a whoosh, Luffy launched Zoro and Sanji together toward the opposing warships.

Then a one-sided battle began.

"Sky-Piercing Kick-Monster Strength Fist!" Liu Qing shattered a warship with a single punch.

"Gum-Gum Battle Axe!" Luffy likewise kicked a warship in half down the middle.

Zoro and Sanji only attacked the Marines, without smashing the warships.

After a round of fighting, only Nelson's warship remained.

Just then, the sea shook, and the water began dropping rapidly. Before long, an island appeared before them, covered in animal bones and enormous eggs that looked like fossils.

It was the Lost Island Nelson had been searching for all along. Seeing the island appear, Nelson laughed wildly. "Haha! It's real! The legend is real! As long as I get the dragon bones, I can make the elixir of immortality! I can live forever!"

At the same time, Grandpa Dragon sensed the island's presence from inside the cave and let out an excited howl. "Awooo!" Then he struggled to prop up his aged body and flew unsteadily toward the island.

The frenzied Nelson happened to see this and immediately ordered his remaining men to attack. "Quick! Quick! Quick! Everyone, aim at that dragon and fire! Shoot him down!"

Then he turned to Erik. "Go kill Liu Qing. We'll handle the other three."

Erik pointed at himself in disbelief. "Me... You want me to fight Liu Qing? Whoever wants to fight him can go ahead. I'm not throwing my life away for some elixir of immortality. Have fun on your own. I'm leaving. Count me out." With that, he turned and left without the slightest reluctance.

Before long, Luffy and the others had beaten Nelson beyond recognition, while Zoro and Sanji had knocked down all the Marines, leaving them unable to move.

At last, Grandpa Dragon used the last of his strength to reach the sky above the Lost Island, then lost his strength and plummeted.

Seeing this, Liu Qing hurriedly used Wood Release to create a great tree beneath his feet that shot into the sky, swiftly catching Grandpa Dragon and setting him gently on the ground.

Luffy ran over, clapped Liu Qing on the shoulder, and laughed. "Nice work, Liu Qing! Now Grandpa Dragon can wait for his companions, right?"

With Grandpa Dragon's final roar, countless dragons appeared in the distant sky. They all gathered around him and began roaring.

Looking at his companions as they arrived, Grandpa Dragon finally closed his eyes and died.

Luffy and the others also returned to Warship Island aboard a small boat Liu Qing had made with Wood Release. Looking at the busy dragons flying in the distance, they immediately began buying supplies, preparing to leave Warship Island for the Grand Line.

Because Liu Qing had joined them, they had not been chased into the Calm Belt by Nelson as in the original story. Instead, they had simply defeated the Marine admiral through brute force.

Half a day later, with their supplies ready, the Straw Hat Pirates continued toward Reverse Mountain.
