Shengu Xuan joined Team 7, revealed overwhelming powers, and turned the Land of Waves escort mission into a hunt for Zabuza and Haku. At the bridge, Haku trapped Sasuke in the ice mirrors, and Shengu Xuan healed him before preparing to destroy them.

• Shengu Xuan gained talisman powers and Shadow Ninjas, then crippled Daisuke and his lackeys before confronting Mizuki at the graduation exam.
• Shengu Xuan defeated Mizuki, resisted Root’s attempt to seize him, and came under Hiruzen’s protection as a member of Team 7.
• Shengu Xuan overwhelmed Kakashi in the bell test and used the exercise to teach Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke about teamwork.
• Shengu Xuan completed D-rank missions with Shadow Ninjas, then killed the Demon Brothers when they attacked Team 7.
• Team 7 escorted Tazuna to the Land of Waves, where Shengu Xuan defeated Zabuza’s water technique and surrounded him with Shadow Ninjas.
• Shengu Xuan exposed Haku’s staged rescue of Zabuza but let them live, then trained with Team 7 and unlocked healing and energy-sensing powers.

Shengu Xuan crushed Gato’s gang, confronted the Third Hokage, and demonstrated his talisman powers during the Chunin Exams. After defeating Orochimaru and Dosu, he watched Gaara defeat Lee, and the official exam was set for a month later.

• Shengu Xuan destroyed Haku’s ice formation, and Gato arrived with armed thugs before Shengu summoned Shadow Ninjas to slaughter them.
• Shengu Xuan refused the villagers’ worship and demanded payment, then warned the Third Hokage about Danzo and Root.
• Shengu Xuan animated a Wooden Dummy with the Rat Talisman and used it to fight Sasuke before the Chunin Exams began.
• During the Forest of Death exam, Shengu Xuan overwhelmed Orochimaru, who still placed the Cursed Seal of Heaven on Sasuke before escaping.
• Shengu Xuan used Shadow Ninjas to obtain replacement scrolls for Team 7, and Naruto and Sasuke passed the second exam.
• Shengu Xuan defeated Dosu in the preliminaries, then crushed Zaku’s arm and knocked Kin unconscious when they attacked him.
• Gaara defeated Rock Lee after Lee opened five gates and used the Reverse Lotus, and the Third Hokage scheduled the official exam for a month later.
• Shengu Xuan invited Naruto to Yakiniku Q and encountered a white-haired man carrying binoculars, whom he said smelled like a toad.

Shengu Xuan defeated Neji, stopped Orochimaru’s invasion of Konoha, and resisted Danzo’s attempts to control him. As Itachi and Kisame came to capture Naruto, Shengu Xuan confronted them, and Itachi attacked him with Amaterasu.

• Shengu Xuan defeated Jiraiya in battle, then infiltrated Root and stole a scroll revealing Danzo’s plans to capture him and experiment on him.
• At the Chunin Exams, Shengu Xuan defeated Neji, while Orochimaru launched an invasion and Danzo’s Root squad tried to capture Shengu Xuan.
• Shengu Xuan stopped Gaara’s rampage by transforming Shukaku into a husky, then returned to the arena with Gaara and headed to the Hokage Building.
• Shengu Xuan broke the Four Violet Flames Formation, destroyed Orochimaru’s reanimated Hokage, and forced Orochimaru and the invading forces to retreat.
• After Hiruzen was forced to step down, Danzo ordered Root to attack Shengu Xuan, who killed Captain Hannya’s squad and confronted Danzo directly.
• Shengu Xuan used the Tiger Talisman to draw Danzo’s dark side partly out of him, then left after warning Danzo not to provoke him again.
• Itachi and Kisame entered Konoha and fought Asuma, Kurenai, and Kakashi, with Itachi trapping Kakashi in Tsukuyomi.
• Shengu Xuan arrived with Naruto, crushed Kisame’s Samehada and kicked him into the embankment, then faced Itachi as he unleashed Amaterasu.

Shengu Xuan drove off Akatsuki, brought Tsunade back to Konoha as Fifth Hokage, and led a mission to retrieve Sasuke from Orochimaru’s followers. He defeated the Sound Four and Kimimaro, then subdued Sasuke at the Valley of the End and unlocked the Thunder Demon Zhong Su’s dark chi.

• Shengu Xuan survived Itachi’s Amaterasu, defeated Kisame, and forced the Akatsuki pair to retreat.
• Shengu Xuan and Naruto found Tsunade gambling in Tanzaku Town, where he used the Rat Talisman to win her possessions and wagered that she must return to Konoha as Hokage.
• Shengu Xuan defeated Orochimaru, Kabuto, and Manda with a hurricane and fire tornado, then Tsunade agreed to return and became the Fifth Hokage.
• Sasuke left Konoha with the Sound Four, and Tsunade persuaded Shengu Xuan to lead a squad to retrieve him by promising to cover his barbecue bills and triple the reward.
• Shengu Xuan’s squad defeated Jirobo, Kidomaru, Tayuya, Sakon, and Ukon, while Kimimaro died after failing to injure Shengu Xuan.
• At the Valley of the End, Shengu Xuan defeated Sasuke and stopped Naruto from pursuing him, then the group set off for Konoha with Sasuke unconscious.
• Shengu Xuan healed Neji’s shoulder and unlocked the dark chi of Thunder Demon Zhong Su after absorbing Sasuke’s Chidori chakra.
