[Lu Sheng; Contribution 20.] [Liu Ruyan; Contribution 30]
Lin Yi looked at their Contribution with satisfaction, his smile growing even more sincere. It left Lu Sheng rather baffled.
"Is there something wrong with this guy's head?"
Lu Sheng shuddered, then hurriedly closed the window.
Sometimes, lunatics were even scarier than supernatural horrors.
Because you never knew what was going on inside their heads.
Lin Yi returned to his bicycle.
He took out a packet of dry instant noodles and began filling his stomach.
His thoughts, however, raced.
Food will become increasingly valuable as time passes in the apocalypse. I should try to give away less food from now on.
I grabbed some jewelry from that rich guy on the way here. Sure enough, food isn't the only way to raise Contribution.
Anything the other person accepts can count toward Contribution.
There should be other ways, too. Maybe I can explore them slowly...
Lin Yi's eyes shifted, landing on the woman who had gotten her best friend killed.
You don't look like a good person, anyway. I'll try it on you.
A smile curled Lin Yi's lips. He stuffed the last mouthful of food into his mouth and strolled toward her.
Huang Nana sat in a circle with several others, taking great mouthfuls of the Jeep owner's food. They were all survivors the Jeep driver had rescued.
"Ptooey, ptooey! Old fart, what the hell did you buy? Why does it taste so awful?" Huang Nana frowned at the biscuits in her hand. After a couple of chews, she spat them to one side, looking at the Jeep driver with displeasure.
"Uh, these biscuits were my daughter's..."
The Jeep driver's eyes dimmed as he spoke.
The fact that he was the only one in the car said everything.
"Stop, stop, stop. Spare me the sob story. Are you hiding the good stuff?" Huang Nana impatiently interrupted him, getting up to head toward the Jeep's trunk.
The Jeep driver had rescued two others, a man and a woman.
The woman also wore a look of disgust as she chewed the biscuits.
Though the man disliked them, he kept chewing with a frown.
"Hmph. All that blabbering, you old fart."
Huang Nana stood up and had barely taken two steps toward the Jeep when she suddenly felt pain at her feet.
Then her vision went black, and she began falling to the ground.
Just then, a figure appeared and caught her in his arms.
Huang Nana raised her head in bewilderment, but her eyes lit up. So handsome. Isn't he the cute guy who was riding that shared bike earlier?
"Thank you."
Huang Nana spoke softly.
[Huang Nana: Contribution 5.]
So it does work.
Lin Yi felt a surge of delight. Contribution really could come from all sorts of sources.
As for why Huang Nana had fallen, of course he had deliberately tripped her.
Having confirmed his theory, Lin Yi let go.
Before Huang Nana could react-
Thud.
She fell flat on her face...
"You bastard, fuck-"
Before Huang Nana had even climbed to her feet, furious curses were already pouring from her mouth like machine-gun fire.
Lin Yi ignored her and hauled her up.
"You creep, what are you doing?!"
Huang Nana pointed at Lin Yi, the fury in her eyes almost explosive.
"Say thank you."
Lin Yi spoke flatly.
"Huh?"
Huang Nana was rather baffled.
"I said, say thank you."
Lin Yi repeated himself.
"You fucking psycho..."
Huang Nana was only halfway through her roar when she saw a fruit knife gleaming coldly against her neck. "Say thank you."
"Th-thank you..."
Huang Nana swallowed.
[Huang Nana; Contribution 10.]
Heh, so that's how it works.
Looking at the Contribution, Lin Yi felt everything fall into place.
His gaze settled on Huang Nana, almost devouring her.
Gulp.
Huang Nana swallowed. "Wh-what are you trying to do? In broad daylight..."
"Heh..."
Lin Yi let go.
Thud...
"Say thank you!"
Huang Nana...
"Say, thank you!"
"Th-thank you..."
Thud!
Huang Nana fell flat on her face again. Looking at the broadly smiling Lin Yi, she felt nothing but a chill, and terror filled her eyes!
"Are you even a fucking man? Picking on a woman!"
An angry shout came from behind him. Before Lin Yi could help Huang Nana up again, the other man rescued by the Jeep driver strode over.
At a glance, he was clearly much sturdier than Lin Yi.
Lin Yi remembered him. He was the guy who had abandoned his own mother.
"Oh?"
Lin Yi looked at him teasingly. "Want a fight?"
Before the man, Xiao Chusheng, could speak, hurried footsteps approached, followed by a booming male voice. "What's all this noise? What's all this noise?"
Everyone turned to look and saw a muscular, six-foot-tall man striding over.
At the sight of his build, Xiao Chusheng instinctively ducked his head.
Lin Yi, on the other hand, studied him with some curiosity.
He should have been a member of the group of vehicles leading the convoy. Lin Yi had seen him a few times before.
"We'll let what just happened slide. The convoy's only just been formed, so let me explain the rules."
"First, fighting is forbidden in the convoy!"
"Second, the convoy doesn't provide food. Survivors without food can join the supply-search teams. Any supplies you find belong entirely to you."
"Third."
The burly man paused here, sweeping his gaze over everyone before continuing in a rumbling voice. "Third, the convoy is absolutely fair. No one is allowed to go against anyone's wishes."
After finishing, the burly man showed no intention of saying anything more. He turned to head back to his group.
Huang Nana, however, had already climbed off the ground and darted to his side. "Hey, handsome, you don't have a girlfriend yet, do you? As long as you teach him a lesson for me, I'm yours tonight..."
As she spoke, Huang Nana kept tracing circles on the burly man's muscular chest with one hand.
The burly man stopped, furrowed his brows, and looked Huang Nana up and down before saying in his rumbling voice, "You couldn't handle me."
Huang Nana: ???
Everyone: ...
Watching the burly man, Lin Yi also felt like laughing.
For him to say something like that so seriously was really rather...
The burly man's appearance had ruined Lin Yi's plan to farm Contribution.
But he did not mind. As long as he had proved his idea worked, that was enough.
I need to max out someone's Contribution as soon as possible.
Lin Yi lay leaning against his shared bike in a corner of the convoy, his right hand constantly stroking the Blood Dagger, which had been wrapped into a ball.
As for who would die in his place, he did not care.
Early the next morning, the convoy set off.
Supposedly, supernatural horrors were especially active at night, while daytime was relatively safe.
As for the convoy's destination, no one had mentioned it, and Lin Yi did not know either.
All he knew was that he could only survive by following the convoy!
To Lin Yi's surprise, after a single night, several dozen unlucky people without cars had actually caught up with the group!
Even so, the convoy, which had originally numbered well over a hundred, nearly two hundred, now had only a little over a hundred people left.
That showed just how cruel the apocalypse was.
As the convoy traveled, they passed vehicles abandoned by the roadside because they had run out of gasoline.
Quite a few of them were expensive cars.
Lin Yi had no designs on these cars. There was no gasoline in his hiking backpack.
Some survivors did try to start the vehicles.
Unfortunately, their efforts were fruitless.
Lin Yi, on the other hand, pocketed some jewelry from the cars along the way to farm Liu Ruyan's Contribution.
Liu Ruyan's Contribution had now reached 50, one step closer to being maxed out!
After the convoy had traveled for three hours, the outline of a small town gradually came into view.
In an instant, quite a few people grew excited.
Before you continue
